  1. I saw him at the Motherwell pantomime a few years ago, so he'd fit right in.
  2. He's made the smart move. He built it, but looking at that squad in action over the last two games, he must've known it was only a matter of time - because they're shit, or because they're not playing for him. Or maybe both. Leaving now saves his reputation possibly taking a battering over the next few months.
  3. Ally MacLeod was probably the quickest out the door into a new season that I can think of, up until today. If only Hammell could do a Davie Hay.
  4. Alexander gets to keep his 'hard done by' reputation intact by going now. He's no stupid.
  5. As soon as he started wheeling out the limited budget patter last night it was inevitable.
  6. Last night it was mainly white, with some claret and amber.
  7. Your point was about managers not wanting to come to a club that keeps sacking managers. The fact is, Robinson wasn't sacked. All clubs have managers leaving for one reason or another, but I think we've probably booted fewer than most.
  8. Robinson wasn't sacked.
  9. Christ, ref, the guy's got an armband on. Is that not ringing a bell when you blow your whistle?
  10. Seriously? You're basically saying there's no point in moaning about this game because we wouldn't go much further anyway. I don't expect us to win a cup or sack the manager, but we've got to live in hope, and if I ever get to the stage where I just shrug my shoulders at performances like this, last week, and huge chunks of last season, I'll give the whole thing up. You keep saying Scottish football is shit. Fine, but given our record in 2022, what does that say about Alexander?
  11. We've pretty much no chance of winning the League Cup either, so when we get booted out of that, no problem. Same with the Scottish Cup. Same with the League. Why bother about losing time after time? As for other Scottish teams, if they're all as crap as you constantly say, where's the big risk in dumping Alexander?
  12. You're meant to be excited by the first game of a new season, right? Even allowing for fitness, just looks like more of the same guff. No idea why that would surprise anyone.
  13. I think it's cracking. Not superstitious, but....was that our last relegation kit?
  14. He was a great option for Rangers at the tail end of the season, when injuries caught up with them, but for quite a while, he was a bit part player. Probably the only thing we could offer that they can't, is regular football. Maybe he wants that, maybe he wants to prolong his career by playing sparingly. It seems to have helped him keep going for Northern Ireland. For all the reasons you listed, I agree, it would be a major surprise if he signed for us.
  15. His expression did literally look pained most of the time.
  16. Alexander obviously knows more than us, but I can't see what Ojala will offer us next season, even as cover. He could easily have been hooked early on in several games and moved with the ease of a guy waiting on a hip replacement.
  17. 2 year deal? Glad he's staying.
  18. The 4 months thing was in an interview, so I assumed they knew what they were talking about. These stats show he wasn't out injured for that entire time, it was a mixture of injuries, being on the bench and not being in the squad. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steven-davis/leistungsdaten/spieler/28973
  19. Yeah, it's just my opinion. Might be utter shit, but I don't think being concerned about the ongoing fitness of a guy approaching 38 makes it a wild one. He's undoubtedly got a fantastic record behind him, and 41 appearances is some going for a guy that age - though I don't think that stat tells the full story. He's had a strong finish to the season, but here's my worry - since playing against us in September, he only featured in 6 SPL games until the split, and only 4 of those were for more than an hour. Europa League, very similar. Played in the group games until September, then didn't kick another ball till 75 mins into the Final. I've seen some great players do a real turn for us in their mid 30s, but we've seen what happens when they suddenly hit that brick wall (McClair). If Rangers think he can still play a bit part role, he'll undoubtedly stay there. He's got nothing left to prove, and I wonder if he'll fancy going somewhere else and being expected to play a major role, week in, week out. But if he signs for us, I'll be delighted to be proved utterly wrong.
