Who's Making The Top Six?

There are now only 8 points separating 2nd position and 11th position in the league. Tight doesn't begin to describe it.

So, once all 33 games have been played, what position will we be sitting in? Why?

Feel free to make your predictions for the top six teams too...

Ross County are the form team in the Spl behind Smeltic taking 14 points out of 18 unbeaten in the last 6 games

Also St Midden are putting a bit of a run on after the Smeltic semi final.....

Hopefully the league cup final will distract them and the Jamboes

Next two home games looking like 6 pointers then away to County

Massive few weeks for us me thinks...

ICT - a must for 3 points

Utd - would take a point

County - Could take 3

Celtic - not expecting anything from a TV game!

If we get through the next 3 with 6/7 points then I think top 6 at split will be

Celtic

'Well

ICT

Utd

St J

Aberdeen

A lot of teams are quite close to each other but they all have to play each other so it will be difficult for them all to catch up with us and ICT so I think we are pretty much there. How it will go after the split I have no idea. We really need a win on Saturday.

With eight games to go until the split (i think?), that would mean we have still 24 points to play for. Strange despite being in second place we could still potentially miss out on a top six spot. This is one tight league, however if we keep picking up points like we have been doing we should be safe.

we have eight games everyone else has only six or seven

on the positive side yesterday we secured enough points to be safe from relegation :whistling:

and we're closer to securing top six than basic arithmetic of 7 x 3 shows

as if one team is winning all those points others are losing

that'll be why directors can meet at Fir Park and discuss financial matters for the footballing department.............

8 games to go before the split for us and March looks like it could go a long way to deciding where we finish in the league

Hearts (A)

Aberdeen (A)

Hibs (H)

Dundee (A)

If we can pick up 4-6 points in our next three games and then 7+ from March's 4 fixtures I would be happy and I'm pretty sure that would see us comfortably in the top 6, as long as all the other teams keep taking points off each other as they are.

My prediction

Celtic

Motherwell

ICT

Aberdeen

Dundee Utd

Judging by our last two displays, we appear to be doing our best to ensure that we miss out on a top six place. If this happens I can't bear to think what the crowds will be like at Fir Park, we will be lucky to see 3000 in the ground.

ICT have had the correct approach, they have taken a few knocks however they are battling hard to hold on to the second spot. Motherwell on the other hand are doing everything in their power to reach second bottom. :(

This thread is deja vu.

Lost count of the number of times last season (and the season before) where doom and gloom set in because we hit a dip for 2 or 3 games.

I understand the disappointment of a poor performance, but sometimes I wonder if posters on here actually follow our team. We have a small squad, many youngsters, who will be inconsistent. After the Utd. game, McCall said he was worried about a number of players carrying knocks and we just don't have the dpeth of squad to deal with large scale changes.

I remember all the talk prior to Sevco when people were saying they didn't care if we had to field our U-20 team every week. I can only imagine this place if that had happened.

People talk about wanting a competitive league, but then moan when teams can all beat each other on any given Saturday. Seems like what they mean is they want a competitive league where we finish a clear second and everybody below us is of a similar (but poorer) standard.

yip games like yesterday are painful as hell to watch, mainly because everyone knows the players can do a lot better and expectations are raised

but over the last five or six years we have had at least one real bad spell, yet the club/team/management have always got us back on track eventually

Small club, small budget, small group of fans still going along, small squad, get the drift

we're gonna have off games, maybe even 5 or 6 close together

thousands of us pledged to stick by the club over tightening the purse strings even further, yet folk are goin off the rails a few games into a bad spell

nobody can write off yesterdays atrocious performance, especially those that spent quite a few quid paying to watch it, but we've got to stick in and hope that the right changes are made to sort it out.

nobody is happy it happened, but I've seen many folk wet their pants to the extent they've mentioned relegation

Good post Brazilian and you are quite correct about teams going through a bad spell.

Mosts negative posts are the result of frustration. For myself I did believe we would bouce back yesterday and felt we could sneak a win or even an away point. To lose 3-0 was hugely disappointing.

Added to that fact is that we have Celtic up next. The only saving grace is that I am missing the game due to business committments / travel. When that happens we have games like skippy Sunday or the 6-6 Hibs game - the only home game I missed that season

So expect the unexpected.

Hopefully we will come thought this blip, but I still have fears over the defence.
