Orinoco
I wonder if we could get Spittal back on loan in January. His style of play would fit in well i feel.

If they are serious about winning the league they need a decent squad not just a starting 11.

If we are spending money then its a striker we need in January as we are lightweight up front.

Too many players ahead of him, but he's contracted to the end of next season.

He’s done ok for the 35mins he’s been on but he’s been the picture of misery since he left Motherwell. he’s on a fortune down there right enough so I doubt we’ll see him back in Scotland any time soon until he’s out of contract. I heard from a guy well connected at Hearts that at the start of the season he was offered to us - unsure if it was a loan or permanent move for cash - but we knocked it back. I’m 100% sure this is true and 90% sure it was a permanent move. Maybe someone else has heard similar.
weeyin
I like Spittal, but wouldn't start him ahead of Slattery, Watt, Fadinger or Just.

No, but he would be a very decent Slattery replacement when he inevitably moves on either in January or in the summer.....
dennyc
I think Spittal would strengthen us even if not immediately starting. He would have to bide his time and get comfortable with our approach. He certainly has the ability. His delivery from out wide is streets ahead of anything we currently have and a great option to have sitting on the bench. If we get the 'old' Spittal that is. mio
I dont think Spittal is better than slattery, just, watt, fadinger, said, Charles cook. I’d personally have them all in front of Spittal. also we don’t know what Spittal we would get. If my memory serves me right he was absolutely rotten under Alexander and Hammell and only started performing under eddy munster. He also seems to be a permanent bench warmer at hearts, not getting any mins on the park. I think we should just count our blessings that we seen the best of him and we’ve now moved on to better Honda civics.
weeyin
I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him, but I'd rather be looking at another Welsh type defender as a priority. I'm sure, however, the management team knows exactly what they want in the next window.
Kmcalpin
The thing is that Slattery can defend, whereas that was never Spittal's strong point.
texanwellfan
On a different subject, where did Allan Campbell end up? Is he still playing?
weeyin
1 hour ago, texanwellfan said: On a different subject, where did Allan Campbell end up? Is he still playing? This was from an article in The Record earlier this month. Short answer, still a free agent: Quote Allan Campbell has played for Scotland, helped win promotion to the English Premier League and played in Europe. The current free agent is still driven that his best is still yet to come. He has played with Motherwell in Europe, helped Luton Town go from League One to the EPL and won a Scotland cap back in 2022. Campbell also helped Dundee United back into Europe before his short-term deal expired last season. The 27-year-old remains a free agent after leaving Tannadice in the summer. The all-action midfielder has had options but has been waiting for the right thing that can help him to achieve his future ambitions of playing at the highest possible level. Campbell said: “I’ve always been somebody that tries to set goals for myself and the main thing is always just to try and play at the highest level I possibly can. “You have a lot of doubts in your career and it always gives you motivation to go and achieve more than what people might think and I’ve done well since I was younger. “People might not have seen me as somebody who went down there and done well but I've been able to go down and make an impact, get to the Premier League and be established in the Championship and I've still got so much more to give. “I’ve still got so many more goals that I've set myself and ambitions and that drive to get better and improve and as I said at the start, I'm just ready to just get my career to where I want to go. “I just want to try and take my career as high as possible really. “I think you see there's a lot of boys out there playing at the top level in European football and that's the goal, to try and play at the top level, try and play in the biggest of stages and prove myself at that level.” Campbell also has further international ambitions. He admitted: “I managed to get my cap so that was probably the highlight of my career so far but that's definitely something that's in the background that I'd love to try and get back involved in and try and get more caps under my belt. " The good thing for Campbell is that he can still move outside of the transfer window. He has had interest in Scotland, England and in Europe. It is now about considering those options and deciding what is right in helping him to achieve his goals. “I think I'm obviously a free agent,” Campbell admitted. “A lot of times I think it opens your eyes up to see what opportunities are out there. “As I said, if something came up overseas and it was best for my career and it was a good opportunity, then I'd definitely consider it. “I’ve had a few options in Scotland, England and in Europe. “I am open to anything. “It is just about trying to think about everything and what's best going forward. “It's taken a bit longer than I'd like but it's just making sure that I keep considering these options. “I’ve still got to make the right decision to continue on in my career. “It’s just making sure that everything's right for me to kick on in my career and trying to achieve the goals that I've set myself.” Campbell also knows he is getting to an age where his prime years are still ahead of him. He stated: “I’ve just turned 27. The next couple of years will be prime time. “I’m feeling healthy, fired and ready to go. “I’m a motivated person, I set myself goals, I'm dedicated and I've got so much more to achieve. “I’m determined to get my career to where I want it to go.” Campbell might not have been training with a club after leaving Dundee United, but he is working harder than ever and putting the hours in to keep himself in prime position. He said: “I get up about 6 o'clock and I go to the gym. “I then do some one v one training and then a bit of running. “I then do a bit more gym work in the afternoon to do some strength work and power sessions. “After that there is the recovery, ice baths, saunas, recovery boots, sleep and then obviously nutrition. “So it's just trying to follow a week that I would be used to. "So I am ready to go when the right opportunity comes up."
