Has anyone seen Joe Efford's coaching videos on Tiktok? If not, look him up. He doesn't half like the sound of his own voice. You'd think he was a footballer in a past life. 😁

Quite a few sports the best coaches have never been elite players. No idea if efford is good at coaching or not but fair play to him making a go of it

Absolutely. In fact I'd say elite players who are good coaches are very much the exception. Playing and teaching are two very different skill sets.

I remember as a kid being quite excited that we signed him and it was for quite a bit as far as I remember. I also remember getting a football card of him from a packet of chewing gum and being elated. He was wearing the Motherwell admiral kit with the 2 claret stripes down the front.

Rest in Peace Mike.

Me too mate. He scored goals for fun with Clydebank, went down south and did nowt, came back to us and scored a few but never lived up to what he'd done at the Bankies previously. I had the card as well 🙂 May even still have it. I have a Gola football boot box of early mid 70s football cards somewhere in the loft !

He'll need to work on that accent out there unless he likes saying everything twice.

He's right about some of the big college American Football teams averaging crowds of around 100k every week. It's quite incredible.

If he's expecting a similarly large crowd for the Choctaws college soccer matches, he'll be disappointed with the 1 - 200 in attendance.

Interesting opportunity though if he takes advantage of it.

So is he just away for his schooling and he'll be back with us? Or is he dropping out of professional football to follow in his father's footsteps?

I think that he’s going for the degree but on a soccer scholarship. My mate did a similar thing in the 80’s, went over to visit him and the majority of the team were either European or South American some of whom went on to play in the North American league so possibly he has both options in front of him. All the best to him but as said previously he’s going to have to learn to speak differently :)

Good luck to young Harry. He has seen an opportunity and is going for it. He deserves credit for taking a less standard path but one which offers benefits beyond football.

As for his language skills, all he has to do is slow his speech down slightly. I had to do the same when I move to NZ.

He's not in the squad, but on the roster as a freshman. How American does that sound?

He'll be in the deep south. A world apart from life here in New England.
