I think McGinn will do a job for us at left back until the end of the season and we have O'Donnell as well who can play both sides.

Max Johnston looks more of a threat going forward than either of the two of them and seems to have the engine and the running ability to get up and down the park. If we have McKinstry attacking from wide left then having an attacking right back and more defensive left back makes sense.

I know conditions weren't great but based on last Saturday, McGinn will not do a job at left back. Either play O'Donnell there as he's looked more comfortable than McGinn did or sign a left back. If Hammell thinks McGinn at left back will do, he should get his jotters...

If we are to do more business this month then the priorities should be

• A left back 

• A defensive midfielder

Any talk of another central defender is wishful thinking...

At the very least the moves that have already happened proves that maybe, just maybe, Hammy does know what he is doing, does know where the problems in the team lie, and has been actively trying to fix them.

I've  got loads of confidence in Hammys ability to see the issue and know the positions he needs to solve.

Previous managers post match comments often led me wondering if I'd been watching the same game. Although it's been dire with mistakes I've always felt Hammy's summary of games was akin to many of us , general punters. 

The key is can he solve the issues, here's hoping he can. 3 points today would get some off his back.

my point was he can see the issue - that’s different from being able to solve the issue

I hope we have clauses in these new players  that their wages will be reduced when in the championship as that’s where we are going to be next season and for the rest of the players I hope we just can terminate the remainder of their contracts!

Celtic are looking to punt Yosuke Ideguchi and he's a central midfielder. Never seen him play but could be an improvement on what we already have. Maybe loan him in until the end of the season?

Have already brought in one CB this window and I'm not convinced he's any better than what we already had. Are you expecting another two?

That’s exactly what we are trying to get from what I’m told. And a left back. Whether the board can fund it or not is another question

Interesting. As someone said in another thread, is this a year with no season ticket income coming back to bite us?

I would ask is this two CBs on top of the one we've already signed or two including Blaney? 

If finances are that precarious then it is a difficult decision for the board. Do you gamble now on the basis that relegation would make things even worse? But sadly throwing money at it won't guarantee staying up so it really would be a gamble.

The Daily Ranger has also reported that a move back to Norway might be in the cards for Sol, the next few days are going to be very interesting in terms of players coming and going. I actually prefer big Sol to Lamie, I swear I suffer from anxiety now with his extremely slow pace and launching balls out of play under no pressure, take him instead.

On the injury front Mugabi isn't back in training until March, I think Efford is mid Feb, and McGinley and Carroll likely out for the season, perhaps beyond. I don't know if it's just the misery we have had with injuries but reading the worst on Mandron.

Someone suggested they would be happy to keep McGinn at left back this season, after Saturday's showing I think a natural in that position is a must. A defensive midfield player would also be most welcome. 

Does anyone know the script with Morris?

I would suggest a year with no season ticket money (which was largely our choice) and spending what we did on a pitch following 2yrs of hardship wasn’t the wisest decision

 

admirable in the case of the season tickets perhaps but financially suicidal in my opinion and I’m sure others

And add into that how it was paid through a covid loan (despite the low interest) that eats into our cash flow each month you have to question commercially why that money wasn’t spent in a revenue generating income flow

Was the theory not that it would save us money in the long run by reducing maintenance costs for the pitch..?

On an average of £2k per week (if you were paying full price wages) until end of may. Is it not worth putting £200k in to get you up to 5 players on loan to help you get to the end of the season?

with Maguire out on loan among others, I can’t see how that wouldn’t be worth the investment?

if we were run with a Benefactor esq structure alongside the well society you can 100% guarantee that would be happening

I’d love to know what the costs saved would be per year against the income that could have come in if invested elsewhere. Unless £1m is saving you £100,000+  A year I don’t think it was the wisest move at this particular point

if it allowed us to commercialise the pitch then I would perhaps agree that it was worth the investment 

although not overnight cash cows I would have rather seen that put into our own academy pitches or even in income generating areas such as hospitality

I'm sure at the AGM they said that the annual cost of maintenance will drop from 125k to 20k. 

As for spending money on players to keep us up, I'm all for us having better players, but look at what hibs, Utd, and Aberdeen are paying, it guarantees nothing.
