2025/26 Ins & Outs Discussion

I’m not in the Tam Cowan school of selling anyone we can and keeping our “diddy club” going, although if a crazy offer does come in (which I’m 100% sure it won’t from those 2 parasites in Glasgow) then it does need to be considered.

But if players are contracted and we are at present flushed with a decent bank balance then I agree….. fk selling to anyone.

let’s strengthen this month and see where it takes us.

It’s all and well saying we don’t need to sell so don’t but if the players contract has a sell clause, another team offers the correct amount and the player want the move how do we stop that without upsetting the player and running the risk of putting off future players by not honouring our side of the contract?

Not saying that it will happen but things are never clear cut and as such we need to trust in the board that whatever happens it’s done for the best reason.

I doubt very much our prized assets have clauses with sell ons considering we got almost all of them when they were out of contract and clubless. I think it was more of a verbal contract to say we are a shop window for you

Never said there definitely will be clauses, was using it as an example of how the don’t sell anyone stuff ain’t clear cut.
Also fuckin someone over if you break a verbal agreement won’t go down well and would damage our reputation and relationships with present players and potential signings. .

It sounds like you're just making up stuff to be worried about.

Some players will want to stay, some players will want to move on, some new players will be happy to join.

Same as every season.

That's for dealing with in the summer. Just enjoy the ride for now.

Realistically if you we're getting offers for Watt, Maswanhise or Just of 3m+ we're going to take it. Also if you look at it from the clubs perspective you'd rather JBA being the manager to replace them.

If Slattery wants to stay get him signed up same with SOD all the others OOC should be allowed to move on.

If Hendry's out we need a Striker in asap as Osong is poor and people seem to think Stama wants to move on which is fine as long as we recoup what we paid.

Think for me this month we need 4 or 5 in everyone around us will strengthen so we're going to have to as well.

From his tweets on X Watt's a Rangers fan so if he's angling for that move let him go and make as much as we can from the sale to replace him.

Wouldn’t sell any players, we would rather keep, to another Scottish team.

I don't disagree I'd far rather they go down South/abroad but at the same time the same way it was when Turnbull went to Celtic if the player wants the move and the money offered is at the level you want it to be their going to move on that is the clubs model and there's no way this time it would be any different.

I’m not worried about anything, was just replying to folk thinking that it’s easy to say no to offers and players leaving.
Personally I’d be looking to sell Slattery and leave the rest until the summer.

Yes, bottom line pretty much always comes down to what the player wants, which is as it should be.
However, what annoys me is agents/potential buyers getting inside players heads while they still have year+ of contract to go, basically unsettling them so that keeping them becomes almost impossible and you are practically forced into selling them.

We have a lot more players on 1 year options than I thought, I dont know how enforceable they are, but at the very least it gives us more negotiating power for fees.

This summer
Koutroumbis
Gordon
Connelly
Robinson
Nicholson
SOD
Slattery

2026 +1 year club option
Balmer
Stuparevic

2027
Hendry - paid a fee
McGinn

2027 + 1 year club option
Stam - paid a fee
Maswanhise
Watt
Just - paid a fee
Said - paid a fee
Longelo - paid a fee
Ward
Ox
Sparrow

It's the gaffer we need a fat contract on!!!!

Does he currently have a contract with us now you mention it?

It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve had a manager operating on a non contractual basis. Craig Brown springs to mind.

I'm sure he is on a 1 year rolling contract

I listened to sports sound this afternoon and they played a clip of JBA’s interview from yesterday; he mentioned looking to see what the rest of this season could look like and what we could be as we head into next season. Someone mentioned this before - perhaps the platform Motherwell give/ have given is more important than a few extra pounds each month. It certainly is a great time to be on this particular Motherwell rollercoaster

No-one should be shocked at Thelin being sacked. After yesterday's result it was odds on. Have they/will they approach JBA? Who knows. Will he approach them ? Again who knows. If there is interest from either side then our Board will have no say in the matter. Thats not to say he would be interested, but money talks and he could double or treble his salary with them.

Time will tell. The first test of his mettle.

Anyways he can't leave for both Celtic and Aberdeen.

If it came to that which I don't think it will the club most certainly can do something about it. They can refuse permission to speak to the manager .

The extra gate money coming in under JBA, with home crowds clearly up, should absolutely be used by the Board to sweeten his current deal. It would keep his focus on us rather than counter offers and would be a logical, now proven, investment.

JBA isn't going anywhere christ he might be more than happy at Motherwell everyone calm down sure he is going to leave us at some point but to Aberdeen nah I don't think so.

Now if I was a St Mirren fan I be worried Robbo will be already speeding up the motorway as I type this after a sneaky couple of texts with Burrows.
