grizzlyg
I think also you don't accept the first bid, if they are keen they will be back plus we don't know what sell on % we would need to pay Newcastle jets We are under no pressure to sell
Stuwell2
Ok I’m plucking figures out of the air here but £250k to buy plus say £50k signing on fee and a years wage at say £3k per week, £150k, gives us a potential £450k outlay on him. Add the sell on fee and what’s left is not a lot for the club. Keep him a year and if he has a good season we could get around £1.5m. Buying him was a gamble, why cash in early for next to no return?

Yes he had injuries but the second one was a freak one. A ball hit off his arm in training and he broke his wrist. He made 16 appearances last season - a lot more than some other players who were injured did Who do we get to replace him? Do we really want to go into this season with no striker? And - I don't care whether he smiles a lot or if he has resting bitch face as long as he gets the job done I'll caveat that by saying I think we need another striker but I'm definitely on the side of keeping him Is there a world shortage of strikers .

You tell me who you think we are going to sign before our first game of the season? In two weeks time How do you know that JBA hasn't already sourced one?Two weeks is a long time in football.
well_said
Just now, wellgirl said: I don't know. But given the fact that we knocked the offer for Stam back it might allude to the fact that JBA wants to keep him - because as other people have said we don't need the money - apparently Udinese are going to make an improved offer for Miller in the next couple of days It would be absolute madness us starting next season with no striker BTW - if we sign Hale or someone else I might re evaluate but as it stands I'm for keeping Stam It quite possibly the reason we knocked the offer back that we are playing hardball and hoping they come up with a better offer. It's speculation only that an Italian club might sign Lennon . JBA will know of many strikers that we could sign that are better than ap stam We are a selling club , fact. We would not start the season without a striker. The transfer window is open until the end of August. If I was a betting man I would put money on tawanda to score more goals ap stam over the season. And lastly he might get a paper cut tomorrow and be out for six months .

Of course it's speculation that an Italian club might sign Miller but most people think he's going to go in the next couple of weeks - and if that's the case - we don't need to sell Stam We cannot afford to turn down offers like that for (in my opinion ) a bang average player who has done nothing in a motherwell shirt so far to convince me otherwise. The money we get for Lennon will most likely be used on infrastructure within fir park or a training ground so we will still need money for players in the future , we don't know when our next big player sale is coming from so we have to cash in when offered silly money for a bang average player . I have faith in JBA knowing what he is doing unlike one of our previous managers.

Anyway. It's up to Motherwell and JBA. Not a minion like me The first game is a week on Saturday. I would be amazed if we had a striker signed prior to then Prepare to be amazed minion. wellfan
Some folks are discussing Stama as if he’s the last striker on earth. He’s replaceable. And a profit for him, of any kind, would be a steal. We’re a player trading club after all. We should be looking to cash in and offer that money for Ronan Hale or similar. I’m confident JBA already has CF additions lined up.

I was forgetting Newcastle Jets may have negotiated a sell on percentage. So while we'd still make a profit, might not be a huge one. Large enough to make up for having to bed a new striker in seven days before the season starts? That's a judgement call for the board and the manager... That's the conversation people are having. No one is suggesting Stamatelopolous is the only striker on earth...

For what it’s worth, I didn’t rate Stama even before the transfer talk, so that’s definitely shaping my view that any profit is good profit. Either way, we need a new starting CF.

They have certainly cropped up in a few articles, and his Dad has talked about how Lennon liked the idea of Italy after he had been talking to Lewis Ferguson and Scott McTominay - so it's not outlandish by any means. If he starts against Rangers then I would say the club has not received any genuine / acceptable bids, if hes not in the squad then that would suggest a move may be forthcoming, time will tell. Richie
The curtent talk is that Bologna are looking to offload first, before committing. Udinese and Como apparently looking at him also.
Stuwell2
Hopefully this works. This is what I’ve seen over the last few days, all seems to be speculation nothing concrete - unless we’re doing a Delboy and selling him multiple times

Talks are ongoing re the transfer of a winger called Ndoye from Bologna to Nottingham Forest for around £35m. The player involved wants to go to England and has agreed terms, but Napoli are also after him although offering less than Forest. Talk is that Bologna are using the two clubs interest to push up the price. Should be resolved soon, maybe even by tomorrow. Great move for LM and Motherwell if it comes off. weeyin
It sounds like one of those rumours that is either 100% accurate, but everyone involved is keeping quiet, or a complete fabrication that the media has decided to run with.
