FirParkCornerExile
I see sections A and B in the Main Stand are nearly sold out. They hold approx 950 and seats are starting to sell well behind the goal. A Motherwell crowd in excess of 1000 looks on the cards if the St Johnstone ground plan is accurate. That is a pretty decent turn out for the League Cup. The League Cup would never generate the same fans response as the Scottish Cup. So not too shabby for turnout. .

I would hope that the style of football. players skills and optimism has a lot to do with it. It certainly has with me. This time last year I would have been very down with Miller, as the only talent, leaving, not so much now that we have quality in the management and players. A big crowd always makes me nervous and I accept it may be my imagination but it seems we underperform more often than not when fans come out in numbers. That said we had 6000 against Rangers, historically a big home support for that fixture and we didn't blow it, Maybe this season will buck, what in my head, seems a trend of letting a big support down. Whats the cut off point for ticket sales that guarantees defeat? We didn’t win either. And today we can’t really draw as it is a knockout tie which is played to a finish. We don’t have goals in us so I can’t see us winning so as I said another draw is the most likely outcome, with a penalty shootout defeat to follow. And let me be as clear as possible here, if that is what happens and we exit the Cup today then that will be unacceptable. This game is a must win game so if we play well and show promise but ultimately fail to reach the next round then it’s not good enough. It won’t necessarily be an indicator of how the season will pan out but Cup runs are important to us as a club and as a support.
