thewelllfan
I don't know why the media are bothering speculating our new manager will be appointed mid june and probably won't be linked with the job until he's announced

star sail
Would love to see MVG as next manager. It just seems like something that has to happen once. I think he would bring a similar vibe and presence as JBA and I prefer using first letter name abbreviations rather than Kettlewell, Alexander, Robinson, McGhee etc. It feels so much more continental. I don't think he would have seriously considered it a year ago but Jens has made the club a much more enticing proposition now.
AllyMax
I'd put money on 4 of these not being on any list at Motherwell.

Apparently a clone of Jens Berthel Askou That's one lazy as fuck list, just pulled out of their area, as expected from them. Then they type in, "who should continue the lineage of Jens, and chuck in the first Jensen they can find.
Big Stall
As we know, most of these media or bookies lists are nonsense. Scramble together some names that are out of a job, even better if we can push for someone friendly to the paper in question. Given our recent appointments & the chairmans statement last week, it doesnt look like we will be changing course. The idea that fir park insiders would spill beans to bad journos is laughable

Kmcalpin Posted yesterday at 07:40 AM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:40 AM Well, the directors can't be far away from making a decision. Recently, its taken us about 3 weeks to make an appointment. When JBA left last week, unlike last year when Michael Wimmer resigned suddenly, we were told that the recruitment process was well underway. Given that it seems the board knew about his likely departure some weeks previously, we surely can't be far off an announcement. These days, the Board is being far more professional about managerial appointments with no leaks, premature or otherwise. Evidence of that is the lack of even remotely credible media articles, if indeed they interested at all.
joewarkfanclub Posted yesterday at 09:53 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:53 AM It certainly seems that the board were well aware that Jens was away long before it happened, so I would agree a 3 week process from that point seems reasonable, albeit potential candidates may still be in employment up until the end of the month. Would certainly expect an announcement early June so we can get some the recruitment signed off before the players come back on June 19th. Be nice to know and be able to relax before I bugger off to the World Cup!
postiejim
Why would John McGlynn leave Falkirk and join Motherwell. They’re arguably as big a club if not bigger than we are.

I don't think he'd come, and I don't really want him to come, but I think you'd lose the "bigger than us" argument for the 2026 versions of both our clubs. What would bring him to Fir Park could be more money, a crack at Europe and a squad that doesn't depend on 5 or 6 loan players every season. (and a stadium with 4 sides )
fizoxy
Falkirk aren't bigger than us. Time at the top level means something. McGlynn would be daft to move from that gig unless he gets a significant pay raise. My guess is he will end up at Dundee Utd in September when Goodwin has a bad start to the season. joewarkfanclub
No chance Falkirk are bigger than us. Similar sized club and support. But our history in the top flight and European football edges it in our favour. No way McGlynn moves here though. He is onto a sure thing at Falkirk. We cant pay him significantly more to risk that. Neither should we. Stick to the plan! 🧡❤️🧡

Why would we want him in the 1st place, weve been down the scottish manager route, and decided we want something better to move the club forward, oh and for me hes not that good a manager. A few good seasons and got a top 6 finish this year but after the season weve had can you really see the board appointing him, no feckin chance.

He's done a great job with Falkirk, but the our new manager has to be hired with a view to progressing even further next season and I don't see McGlynn fitting that role. We might be mince next season, of course, but we should aspire to being even better.

Disagree hes not a good manager, Falkirk play some tidy football...think JMcG suffers from not really looking or sounding the part, but his record is decent. I'd agree. McGlynn's a decent manager, but a guy who fits into the 'safe pair of hands' category. He also seems to suffer from the traditional Scottish attitude when it comes to facing the Old Firm. We've just enjoyed a season based on risk and reward, with a manager and players who were willing and (sometimes) able to go toe to toe with anyone, anywhere. It could very easily backfire, but I think most of us are in the mood to twist rather than stick.
Mad Dog
The Scotsman seems to think that the young Belgian chap Will Still could be our man. Could possibly carry on JBA's legacy and add a more aggressive attack?

I watched a tactical analysis when talked about what he wants his players to do in and out of possession he would have a field day with the players we have. fizoxy
From this article? https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/scottish-premiership/latest-premiership-news/next-motherwell-manager-odds-ex-hearts-celtic-and-rangers-men-join-fir-park-hero-amongst-favourites-for-role-8646186 Thats just a list from the bookies, which has never been close for us in the past, because its essentially made up shite, and even in this case Still is the outsider candidate.
