I dont think Just and Said were on board at this point last year so theres no real comparison.

Both played in pre season games last year and both played in the league opener against Rangers

Good to see cookie fit and in form after slightly off it last season prob due to some injury niggles, decent player for us.

I wasnt saying that after first 20 mins but he came onto a game and took his goal well.

I think Longelo and Williams could be a great double act on the left

Longelo on the left,TJ on the right and get a decent man for the middle  we might have an outstanding season.

Did you not have a feeling last year something was good? I know I did and the guys I go to the game did. It felt as if something exciting was happening. Even with the occasional lapses in the LC games there’s was something there. I don’t get that this year…. I hope I am wrong as I do like Alfred and I do think a couple of the signings, Moorman, Reich and Williams look decent.
time will tell and it’s probably not right to doubt anything until half a dozen games in. I’ll just hope for the best.

Iv had a worry in the two matches about the differences as well. What i would say is that there was a period early 2nd half lastnight where it looked to have clicked & we were really zipping the ball about. Hopefully its the start of the development. No reason to panic yet & once we have three or four league games under our belts we will have a better idea of where we are

Keeper worries me a wee bit, times looks solid, other times a bit shaky. That one he spilled 2nd half was brutal

I'm pretty sure most fans think their keeper is the only keeper that makes mistakes.

They never think that about outfield players, but for some reason keepers need to be perfect.

He is really good with the ball at his feet, I know that’s why we got him but he is “super” confident doing it….. which does scare me a little as goalies all think they are better players than they are. I’ve not seen anything so far to make me worry too much though, apart from his height.

keeper’s are always liable to have a nightmare, even the world class ones. I think he seems to have settled well so touch wood he continues to improve

They definitely have a hard role.   Can make a dozen great saves in a game but one howler and that hets remembered.  I am sure Paulsen will be fine, still settling in

Is he that good with his feet though?

I know thats why we went out and got him, but there were points last week and again last night where he looked less than comfortable and launched it long. On one occasion he booted it out the park under no pressure at all.

I will reserve judgment on him as we are only 2 games in and he has a brand new defence in front of him, but Im yet to be convinced by him.

More than happy to be proved wrong though!

They could be if Longelo is around long enough…

Good point. Certainly looks like we are in sell now where we can mode despite earlier Board assurances to the contrary. And given our left back stock it would not surprise me in the slightest if Longelo goes in this window.

The keeper has played 2 competitive games, one on dodgy AstroTurf.

None of his passes were as bad as our players passing inch perfect through balls to the HB strikers.

But as I said before. For some reason, if you are a Fadinger or Priestman, your poor passes are judged much less harshly than if you are a keeper.

Learning when to launch it long when there is no obvious pass to beat a high press is a good thing, if Ward had done it at parkhead last season we would have had another 3 points, and if Connelly had done it at Aberdeen, we would not have been dumped out of the Scottish cup.

Id be quite impressed if thats what he was doing, but it isnt/wasnt.

Of course the options in front of him have to be good as well, and I dont think our rotations are where they were last season (yet) but Paulsens body shape / positioning whilst receiving the ball isnt doing it for me right now.

Like I said though, early days.

If we sell Longelo on top of those that have already gone and the liklihood JT is out the door, then Kyrk is gonna have some questions to answer re his comments on " squad management".

It would be like a fire sale, just with loads more money involved!

Yes, I think questions would be justified if that scenario comes to pass.
