FirParkCornerExile
1 minute ago, David said: Absolutely not. We've already earned twice as much financially in Europe as we would if we actually won the League Cup. In a season where we aren't in Europe, I'd absolutely agree that the League Cup is a priority, but when we have more lucrative European games, and we currently sit two games away from the actual group stages and the chance to earn millions? It's not even comparable. We need to agree to differ. I  don't support Motherwell to watch the balance sheet, I watch Motherwell in the hope one day Ill live long enough to see us win a trophy again. We will lose over two legs to Freiburg , yes we will pocket £1.2 million from the European run. But if I had to choose between the League Cup in the Fir Park Trophy Cabinet and £500,000 or £1.2 million from 3 round in Europe Ill take the League Cup every day of the week.

So there's definitely something in that... I don't think that the schedule has anything to do with it, at least regarding Williams; he only played a few games before getting crocked. I hadn't heard the Priestman news, what happened there?
Happyhonest
1 hour ago, Bart Verheul said: I totally understand that frustration however I was much more raging last year when we lost to Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup when Jens rotated the team because the only team that were left in it that we wouldn't have been favourites against were Celtic and even then I would have fancied us last season. We have basically got a full team out injured already and are having to play on a Thursday then Sunday so I totally get why we would rest players anyway never mind playing on that abomination of a pitch. Can you imagine how raging everyone would be if Said or Longelo ended up getting bad injuries that then puts them out of league games too. I think everyone is getting a bit bent out of shape because of the European game coming up and thinking we are resting players for that. There's guys there that need rested for the league games which like it or not are the main priority for a team the size of ours in the eyes of coaches and the board. Agree. Ā The load on faddinger priestman is massive Lowry hodge just in the door Williams is out. SOD McGinn out Ā need a fresh MM for Thursday. Ā We havenāt been able to really work on patterns of play due to the weekend and mid-week games. Could we have performed better? Yes but with the psychology of Thursday we have lost today. Ā Ā Learn from it. Ā First loss of the season. Ā Now we need a performance on Thursday. The team owe us. Ā The team need us. Ā Ā we knew there would be a drop from last year with the players we lost we are still in the process of rebuilding, letās see where we are at the end of the window. El Grew
Artificial playing surfaces have no place in professional football and the clubs who have them are lower league part-time semi-professional. I think the Scottish League and the SFA need to have a complete re-think on their use in cup competitions. If a team with such a pitch is drawn at home they should have two options: 1. Find an alternative venue with a grass pitch; or 2. Forfeit home advantage. If the latter, they could be compensated financially by the home team, say based upon their average home gate. Unfortunately we've been dealt a really bad injury list too which has meant we have had to throw in young guys who aren't really ready yet. I'm sure AJ knows they aren't ready yet but he can hardly come out and say this in public when he knows he has to rely on them in order to rest the first eleven when he needs to. If the rumours about Priestman being out for a while too are right then thats another hammer blow but may have been due to how many games hes had to play so early in the season.
