Maybe even a wee shape change to 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-3-2 to limit the work/running Las needs to do. But everyone knows McCall will not promote a youngster unless the only other option is starting with 10 (and even then I reckon he'd seriously consider playing for a draw wi 10!) No matter form or fitness,same starting 11 as friday. St Johnstone don't often lose at home and having done so today it will be interesting how they will react. As for us, with either an inexperienced central midfield or one still in rehabilitation it is inevitable we will be under the cosh. As such, I agree with MJC's assessment that we will really struggle to keep them out. The game in New Years Day was superb with both teams playing well and the margin of victory only came after they went for it when we went 2-0 and they lost the midfield. If we could start well and force them to chase, I suspect it will be our best chance as if they go for it like they did then they will leave space for Ainsworth to run at them. Not going to make any predictions on the team yet as will no doubt very much depend on how Carswell, Anier and Lasley reacted to the injuries they played with on Friday and also is there any prospect of Lawson being back?, never really heard what was wrong with him. If injuries permit, I'd agree that Anier has to start. We will require much more mobility and pace up front and John Sutton will need close support. If we go a couple of goals up then bring Faddy on, or if not bring him on for the last 15-20 minutes. Ideally Reid would slot in at right back but it depends on his level of match fitness. This is a massive game for us at a tough venue. If we can return to a conventional back 4 with a fit Lasley and/or Carswell in front of them, hopefully Ainsworth and Vigurs turn up and create chances. Back in October at Perth we had Lawson, Lasley and Carswell in the midfield and we simply didn't compete. They sat so deep that our attacks were stifled before they even began. Clean sheet? Conceding a single goal wouldn't be that bad given our recent record. In the last four matches we have conceded 3 - 2 - 3 - 3 which has to be a concern if we want to pick up points. Perhaps this is a little unfair on Neilsen because I think some of those goals were not his fault but Twardzik conceded 2 goals in 5 league matches. It's now 5 league matches since Neilsen replaced Twardzik and in that time we have conceded 11 goals. That doesn't make good reading. St. Johnstone have been mediocre recently and the excellent home form they had the last time we were up there has faded a bit. Stevie May has scored 10 of St. Johnstone's last 12 goals and they have failed to score in 8 of the last 12 matches so it seems clear that if you want to get something out of St. Johnstone neutralizing Stevie May will probably do it as they are struggling to get goals from other sources. And both defenders could be sidelined for a few weeks after sustaining injuries at home to Inverness at the weekend. Wright left the field in the 38th minute after damaging ankle ligaments while Scobbie - who replaced him - also suffered a knock and will require a scan. Steven MacLean is close to a comeback following knee surgery but midfielder Murray Davidson is out for the season. Meanwhile, Motherwell have an unchanged squad for their trip to Perth. Fraser Kerr has returned to training following an ankle injury but will not be fit enough to face the Saints. Also absent, due to injuries, are Simon Ramsden, Lee Hollis, Craig Moore and Paul Lawson. If we go with a right back as opposed to hammell there, I would like to think murray might be given a shot but it will more likely be Reid. Would also like to see leitch get a chance, he is a centre or left mid isn't he? We lacked in energy down the left on Friday.
