4 defeats in the league all season, the first in nearly 3 months and all of a sudden the players are full of themselves or we need X, Y and Z. Sometimes it'll just be an off day or luck won't quite be in your favour. If people can't just accept that without the character assassinations in this season of all seasons then I honestly don't know how you manage to go about your daily life.8 points

The sad thing is that when we look back on what’s been a great season with so many good results , the results that have really killed it have been 3 winable games. St Mirren in the cup semi final. Aberdeen in the Scottish cup . And today away to Dundee. This team could have been legends but the In years to come we’ll look back on this at it will be just another hard luck story.2 points

We’re getting so massive we might have to ask for entry to the EPL just to find some proper competition.2 points

Crowds haven't gone up this season because we won the cup in 1991. The hope is, if we carry on down this path, success will follow. If someone said we'd have a better chance of winning a cup were Robinson to return, with his footballing philosophy in tow, I'd say, no thanks. I realise some would roll out the welcome mat.1 point

We need to be up for it to keep Hibs at bay. They play Livingston while we play Celtic so we are realistically going into a head to head with Hibs with only 4 points between us.1 point

Ive never been in the camp that we could win the league , you just needed to look at our remaining fixtures before today and we' realistically needed to win 9 of our remaining 10 games. That meant winning at Celtic Park, Tynecastle , Ibrox , Easter Road and Celtic and Hearts at Fir Park , In no world was that EVER going to happen.1 point

We were a bit off it today but fort the life of me I cant believe folk saying Dundee deserved to win. They had two efforts on goal and scored with both. One being an absolute gift. By any measure of all statistics today we didnt deserve to lose even as below par as we were.1 point

No-one knows for sure, but I'm assuming JBA will be offski and has probably already been sounded out by clubs higher up the food chain than us. However I trust the directors have a very good idea of the kind of manager that now suits us and will source another in the same vein. We are a selling club and it may well be that some or all of Just, Manwhanise, Said and Watt move on for healthy fees. Welsh will also be moving on. Those fees will greatly help the club financially long term. As we sourced Manwhanise, Just, Watt etc we can source equally good replacements, but the difference this time will be that we'll know were our weaknesses lie. We're a good footballing side but management will know that we lack bottle, hardness and ruthlessness and that will be addressed.1 point

Good post Grizzly. We have a helluva fight on our hands to hold onto 4th place. Lets get behind the team. By next weekend Hibs will likely be just 4 pts below us. Then 2 huge games against them and Falkirk. The 2 easiest games of our run in. We've come a long way in 1 year. But we're very much work in progress as Dundee pointed out today. If that result can bring a few of us back to reality then its been a good day.1 point

Dundee got their tactics spot on …..leaving both wings open and encouraging us to try and play through the middle……we never took advantage of this and unfortunately lost a soft goal…….the second half was better when we did have bit of width and failed to take our chances and lost the second trying to win the game We need to start having a shot instead of trying to score the perfect goal / walking the ball in the net Some of the pish spouted at the final whistle and on here is beyond belief ….we lost our FOURTH league game of the season FFS !!!1 point

This is the most sensible post that’s been posted on here today and it resonates completely. This season has been very good for us and we have played some brilliant football throughout which have helped bring about some great results. But ultimately it’s yet another very good Motherwell side who will have nothing to show for it come the end of the season. And this year it feels even more of a missed opportunity given that we had the team to achieve something while both Old Firm teams have had their worst seasons in decades at the same time. We will be waiting a long, long time before that happens again. And before anyone asks the question “ahh but would you swap our season of great football for St.Mirren’s season, however that ends up for them in the league”? then yes, you better believe I would because they won silverware and have tangible success to point to from this season while we, yet again, have none.1 point

Today. Dundee had just over 30% possession. They scored twice. Had a goal chalked off for offside and hit the underside of the bar. That's being efficient. Too many times we don't turn possession and touches in the opposition box into goals. We need more strength in the midfield to win tackles. Too many times Dundee easily won the ball in the midfield and broke forward. We need to find ways to win scrappy physical games. The balance between finesse and strength is not quite right. We are a better footballing team than Dundee for sure but we need to add some physical strength.1 point

Can't see us improving next season as probably half team will be sold and manager off also. Every season is rebuild for Mwell unless we sell one player and invest wisely.1 point

I agree with most of that Jim but in the cold light of day this team is excellent but simply not good enough to win silverware. Or, should I say, lacks the necessary qualities. Margins are thin, but but good football alone wins nothing. Lets just enjoy the football and irrespective of whether we end up 4th or 5th it will have been a great season and gives us hope that we can improve for next season.1 point

Ffs why are people still going on about the 5 changes that put us out of the cup. It was 10 men after 3 mins and 9 after 46 down to ridiculous referreeing and var, that put us out that renders any changes or game plan irrelevant. Only our 4th defeat in 29 games today, the title might be a step too far now, but our start to the season made that an unrealistic objective. We can still finish 2nd or 3rd and qualify for Europe, which given where we were at the start of the season most fans would have bitten your hand off for a finish like that. Its a sore one today especially after pulling it back to 1-1, but there are 27 points left to play for, so runners up and a champions league spot anyone1 point

I just get over emotional as this was our only hope of a league title but we've blown it before we have even got to the split. Was probably a pipe dream and still been an amazing season. Would love it if we could beat that horrible mob next week1 point

Poor performance. Did we have a shot at goal apart from free kicks? To be honest you could have subbed anyone today. Maybe some of them like Maswhansie and Just believing the press hype that appeared this week with talk of big moves. I am afraid that Dundee wanted it more and thoroughly deserved the win. That's three times we have bottled it when it really mattered. Twice in the cups and then today. Had to feel for Priestman. Comes on as a sub and then gets subbed. Especially when Just was screaming to be subbed today1 point

Apart from European places? That's about as good as it gets apart from a cup win , which is always a long shot1 point

We were never going to win the league, this should relieve any pressure that was on us and we can go out and enjoy the rest of the season, causing mayhem to the other 3.1 point

I must admit, i've been having to check myself quite a lot in the last few weeks, as I've come away from a few of our wins like 'meh' 😕 Previous seasons, especially when battling relegation, a win would put me on a high for at least the rest of the night, and the wins against Rangers put me on a high for days. I think I might be developing 'Old Firm Fan Cunt Flu' and need to find a cure. Going into games expecting wins is not normal and complacency is something I don't think any 'well fan has ever suffered from before, except maybe when Davie Hay was the manager and we were skelping everyone 5 and 7 nil.1 point

I agree with the attendances, football success is cyclical. For us in recent memory the trend has been good for a couple of seasons then mediocre for a few, above average for one and repeat on a five year cycle, heavily influenced by manager, recruitment and academy progression. I do think a new stadium if designed wisely could get bump in attendances for home and away fans due to the novelty and nuance. What maintains that long term is emulating the footballing side from the past 18 months as much as possible. Hosting Livi midweek in early December has a lot cobwebs even now. I think you can do things integral to the design to enhance the atmosphere even at half capacity or less. Stuff like steep stands (building regs have it at 42 deg pitch max I think). Proximity of opposing fans, similar to the old shed where tribalism manifests and can flourish, one of my best memories was at Brockville and the too and fro'. Perception, situating the fans so on telly at least the stadium looks busier (ie none under the main TV gantry), Hampden does this when the OF aren't involved. If parts of the stadium are unused there's no need for stewarding, McLean stand for Ross County fixture for example. If you count the top flight three OF, potential of top six and a fourth, a city club requiring more than 4,800 tickets and a early cup tie then we have potential to oversell our current offering in roughly a quarter of our home fixtures, and outsell massively in three to five of those games. If projected income can be used to give us a much better stadium to enter when we get the keys, I see the negatives as minor. The spaces I suggested in the presentation, only one corner I envisaged as being office space (both for the club and an incubator space for SME's). The other corners/stands were a mixture of spaces where people have/wish/aspire to go to, such as a gym with or without a pool/dance studios, etc, street-food court and a "Makers Space", using one set up in Boston as an idea. I suggested our executive boxes could be used as hotel bedrooms on non match days. For me the stadium and it's spaces have to be fully dynamic, configurable and adaptable plus the asset has to be sweated massively outside the 25 games hosted per season. A coffee shop/restaurant is complimentary to all of the above and ensure the building would be in use universally almost 24hrs a day but certainly from 0700-2300 if all ideas employed. A 12,000 capacity allows us to mimic what we have at present by and large, except our current maintenance costs are swapped for a large mortgage and lesser maintenance costs, this would undoubtedly affect our player budget. Moving to 15,000 or 18,000 stadium allows the club in theory to recoup approximately £20m over 20 years from other clubs supporters to finance the stadium while filtering the same ticketing revenues we currently enjoy to fund the team. Add in increased home crowds, enhanced hospitality functions, rents of sub leases, etc. all of these allow us to move away from current peer clubs like St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Dundee.1 point

Yeah funding is key, I took from the AGM we're due eight installments for Lennon spaced every six months, if we realise some or all of the interest in our players that's been brought up in the past couple of months then we in theory have a healthy downpayment to get the ball rolling. The skill is talking to institutional investors and making the case and extracting every penny from the public purse as possible. You'd hope the authorities see a fan owned community club as a different entity to Dermot Desmond or the 49ers when it comes to decision making. Issue is the developer of Ravenscraig has been sitting on it for 25 years with minimal movement for a host of reasons. If we make player sales in excess of what Lennon went for in back to back seasons then they'll know that and we move from being an anchor/draw to further development on the site to being asked for money for land that limits our ambition. We have a unique situation in Scotland where two clubs hoover up support from the entire country. I have no issue with following what Motherwell has done in the past and extracting every single green and blue pound possible. I'd also add the figures I cobbled together only account for three OF visits per season, we've qualified for the top six half of the time since the split was introduced, a high flying Hearts, Hibs or Aberdeen have potential to exceed the McLean if there were extra seats available, not to mention home cup ties before semi final stage. When you add National team matches at all levels there is plenty of scope for these to all be cream over and above any repayment commitments. With respect to the feasibility report, as things are kept close to the chest, maybe only enough to endorse the decision made at board level to sell it to the wider support. While I'd favour a move if the decision is a new POD then I'll shoulder shrug and see it as a lost opportunity. If it's a Ravenscraig move, then I suspect there were be a genuine heads gone from many.1 point

An indoor 200m one, not a 400m which I agree with you on. Not intrinsic to the design, just trying to sweat the asset. It would be below the pitch anyway and not get in the way.1 point

That's where I am impractical and greedy, I want us to grow as a team and be as good as possible on the park....think we just got to enjoy this season and go from there....life was a lot simpler when we all stood on the terraces...getting misty eyed👀1 point
