  1. Longelo gave the officials a decision to make. Very soft but the sort of challenge that the old firm get awarded penalties for week in week out. The issue like the game at Fir Park is that questions need asking on why the officials failed to send Celtic players off for obvious offences. Tho it is a recurring theme for all teams against them. Then you have the officials turn a blind eye to shoves in their box or over zealous challenges. The shove was soft but a foul everytime outside box. Just was targetted yesterday and was kicked constantly with no protection from the officials. Given how tight the title chase is these officials and the decisions they make are only going to be more biased and outrageous. Hearts have no chance. As for the media and Authorities they ignore the big issues and as a result our game is still in the dark ages and struggles to modernise. All we can do is play our football and try to grow as a club.

  2. It's just amazing how quickly some have forgotten the absolute dross we've watched under previous managers compared to this season. I'm not getting hyped I'm just happy to see the team play football the way it should be played and to great effect most weeks. Christ, we've earned it.

  3. Absolutely. It's one of those rare seasons I don't want to end. While I'd love to win a cup, I enjoy watching us perform at this level week-in week-out, and would be delighted to see us play the same way for another 38 games.

  4. If you think our season's basically been over since Pittodrie, fair enough. I don't feel that way at all, and whatever happens in the summer, I'll wring every bit of enjoyment I can get out of the remaining games.

  6. I dont think thats fair. The only big game I dont think we turned up in was the League Cup semi-final, and even that game was down to "moments". Performance wise, we have been excellent against Hearts twice, Celtic three times and Rangers three times. Results wise you could make an argument for it, but given all 3 teams have significantly bigger budgets than us and are above us in the league, they might just be better/luckier than us. The fact that we have been able to go toe to toe with them is a significant improvement on mindset and performance levels from years gone past. Of course, if we want to develop and get better, Jens will have to find a way to bridge the gap and turn those performances into results.

  7. I took a couple of Falkirk fans in before that game. No issues whatsoever. In fact there were a good few in there. Last few games the place has been packed, with queues waiting to get in as folk leave. Probably because the place across the road shut down. So if you go, get there early.

  9. It was a judo move from Maeda which made Longelo land on top of him, foul to Motherwell!

  12. Of course we can build. JBA has been revolutionary for us, but the style he plays is very common across most European leagues with teams big and small. The fact that it's unusual in Scotland speaks volumes about our approach to the game, but there is no reason we can't find a replacement who adopts a similar style. As I have said before, you only need to watch the "wee" teams who regularly beat Scottish sides in the European qualifying rounds to see how common our style is. In fact, I predict 2 or 3 other Scottish sides will be recruiting to copy us next season.

  13. I agree. Using the above logic our season has been over in January for the last 4 years as we have never thought winning the league was possible. Whether you believe we had any chance of winning the league this year or not, just having a conversation about it was something new. This season wont be over for me until the last ball is kicked and we see how high up the league (or otherwise) we finish. I think 4th and European football would be a very good return on top of the entertainment we have enjoyed this season.

  14. I was always against VAR because, as I said at the time, it was madness to think the same people making bad decisions on the pitch would somehow start making good decisions when they looked at video. It has turned out worse than I thought, because now they are intervening far more than the original claim of overruling "clear and obvious errors" and are practively refereeing games. When you add the ability to make decisions that change games in favour of big teams then the game, as they say, is gone.

  15. I can 100 percent accept that was a penalty but 100 percent that is not a red card if thats a red card then no match in world football should be being finishing with 22 players on the park at the end. And the fact I witnessed a Ox Chamberlain stay on the park after a horror tackle proves to me that paying for something that doesnt really work you tend to throw it away and VAR as we use it needs to be thrown right in the bin its refs backing up pal refs with terrible decisions. So reading the messages no we haven't been found out,no the bubble hasn't burst and I don't know what game some of the folk here were watching or listening to yesterday but we were firmly in the game until the Red Card. Its like folk on here are itching at the bit for us to get beat have a bad game so they can moan.

  16. If beaton needs var to tell him it was a penalty given his unobstructed view of the incident , then maybe refereeing isn't for him. Cowardly bastard.

  17. Also agree about the mentality thing. We' re not perfect, but I see no evidence of a mentality issue. We always knew this approach would sometimes create mistakes that cost goals. It's an intense approach that, more than other approaches, needs all the players to be 100% switched on at all times and all players to be in sync at all times. I also think the amount of success and quality play we have watched tends to make errors stand out even more. A bit like when someones makes an aimless punt and there's a collective groan.

  18. For me its the double jeopardy that i have issue with. Penalty yes, and denial of a goalscoring opportunity. But its only a red if its cynically denial of a goalscoring opportunity, otherwise just about every penalty is a red also. Its jostling at a corner, maeda gets the better of him, and the foul happens. Is that a clear and obvious red, when its basically a result of jostling? Not for me. Not like hes scythed him down through on goal. VAR right to step in regarding penalty, shouldn't be recommending a red though. Making it up as they go along though as usual.

  20. Thats a fair point and we won't know the answer about mentality until the dust has settled on this season. The proof of the pudding and all that. I was speaking to a Hearts fan during the week and after complimenting us for our refreshing style of football he said that he thought his team would falter as their character and mentaility were not what it takes to be winners. For all of the top 6 teams there are hard games coming up and there will be no hiding places. A good start for us will be to beat Hibs next Saturday. If we are to be ruthless, I'd like to do so in a manner that impacts negatively on their confidence. Just read Joe's post on P & B and I agree that we need to mix things up a wee bit. Maybe we've become a bit stale and predictable in recent weeks?

  21. I’m still annoyed by the Dundee game, much more so than that yesterday. If we’d have played with the same attitude against Dundee as we did yesterday we’d be sitting on 56 points and miles clear of Hibs.

  22. Just in and watche highlights Oxlade-Chamberlain should have been on 2 yellows Maeda flings an elbow JT pen claim is no softer than the Celtic one. Fed up of this refereeing time and again.

  23. I wouldnt include the Aberdeen Cup game. Nothing wrong with our mentality in that game. Even after the first freak red card, we regained our composure and control over the game. At 10 v 10 we were the better team and looked like we had every chance to get back in it. Our second red card kills it, and Im not having that as a red card ever. Killie had a player brought down on the edge of the box tonight goalside and absolutely getting a shot away. Yellow card. The standard of officiating in this country is horrendous.

  25. I thought some of our football was excellent today. Watched it on Celtic Tv and Peter Grant was full of praise for us. It was a pen, but the red card was awful, terrible decision that has changed the game. We lacked a bit of cutting edge up front today and were wasteful in good areas. But our play from the back to midfield was outstanding. Keep playing the way we are then 3rd or 4th is achievable which let’s be honest would be a fantastic result for the club. Just got to keep building this style of play into next season as I’m sure it will bring success to the club.

  26. Irrespective of the penalty we have been poor in the 2nd half. Defence overall today has struggled and no threat up front. Like first game we shot ourselves in the foot conceeding a soft goal and never recovered. Never a disgrace to lose in Glasgow given the resources they have and officials to help out when needed. Said, Longelo and Sparrow way to slack with ball and poor defensively. JT was non existent. So thats four players down during game. Struggle to win when thats happening.

  27. I like the idea behind the Birmingham City stadium. It would be nice to have a tip of the hat to Ravenscraig incorporated within our stadium, whether that be a museum or just in the design. Realistically, Kansas City Womens stadium is probably more in line with we could afford. Albeit I dont like stadia with open sides as per Falkirk or Hamilton.......
