  1. When I heard us linked with James Cameron, I assumed it was to direct our next social media movie...

  2. I think our fans have totally missed the point here. Im not saying on first viewing I didnt find the ad a bit cringey. I did. But this isnt being trailed as a professional pitch to serious investors. Its a media stunt designed to grab attention and get people talking about the fact that Motherwell are in the market for investment. And to that extent, it is a huge success! The professional pitch should be part of the follow up strategy directed at those individuals who have requested further information. The strategy to secure investment going forward may or may not be a success. But the marketing company and the club will be delighted with the response to the marketing campaign so far.

  3. Just been contacted by staff at a couple of US and Canadian Colleges who know I'm a 'Well fan to ask about the video. They tell me everyone in their respective staffrooms are talking about it.

  4. As someone who was similarly critical of Bairs signing (more so the length of contract than the actual taking a punt on him) Im more than happy to put my hands up and say he has proved me wrong already. Is he the level of striker we should be looking at as a first team pick? Probably not. Is he a decent squad level player who will chip in a number of goals and assists off the bench or during an injury crisis? Absolutely. He has 5 goals and a number of assists in half a season, where he has had limited game time in a team that couldnt buy a win in 3 months. If we can strengthen the squad and get some consistency of performance/results and confidence within the squad grows, he will do ok. If we are seriously interested in Main though, he would be behind him so we should be looking to move on Obika and Shaw. Edit: Whether you rate Bair or not, he has proven he is clearly better than Canadian semi-pro level. So a little credit shouldnt be too hard to offer his way.

  5. Okay, a footballer at the level we should be signing and playing. I feel many think he's done relatively well based on the fact that the bar was so low with him to begin with. Basically, he's done okay-ish in possibly the worst Motherwell team I've seen in many a year. If that's good enough for you then that's perfectly fine. I still don't rate him, and definitely not enough to warrant a two-year contract. It'll take more than two or so games where he looks decent to change my mind on that front.

  6. The chairman saying "it has worked well" for me that speaks volumes of how the club is run if he thinks releasing that video was a good move. Yes millions of views online but only because it's cringeworthy, if it was meant as a professional pitch to attract potential investors it's a serious own goal. He mentions other clubs and individuals putting in millions each year, I very much doubt they are doing that without return, Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen are much bigger clubs than us, with more potential to make money, what could an investor hope to get in return from a club of Motherwells size. For me nobody is going to keep pumping money into a club year after year to keep it running with no return, especially if they don't have a controlling interest in tbe club.

  7. I read Bair saying his second effort against Livi was only his second best ever goal. His best goal was the first one he scored in the MLS. I tracked it down - it was pretty good.

  9. Certainly not the way I would have done it. I think you can be funny without being cringey and achieve the same goal. But it is what it is. Certainly not worth getting bent out of shape for.

  10. It is certainly getting lots of coverage which is obviously great and if it works then great. But for me and no criticism to the young lad being asked to say it but the "gies yer Dosh" line is embarrassing. But time will tell if it has been a success or not

  11. Well they randomly loaned him out to St. Mirren last season despite being in a relegation dogfight and needing goals at the time so anything is possible.

  12. Nah not having that, the Ad company and club board may have thought it was a good laugh, off the wall, tounge in cheek etc but they meant it to be serious ie geez yer dosh. Yes it's went viral, but honestly is a serious investor going to watch that and say you know what I'm giving them a call I want to put millions into that nice wee Scottish club, I think not. Time will tell whether we get any bites and if we do attract a Motherwell Daft/ daft investor to give us their dosh then I'll be the 1st to admit I was wrong but it was all a bit amateurish for me

  14. Honestly Wasn't having a pop at yourself bud, more of a general comment, there was a lot of comment around the guy before he had kicked a ball, If olly Shaw can earn a living as a pro footballer, bair is much more effective imo Similar theme but different, just watched the guy Oakley ( Morton) and his hat trick v Dundee utd, he looks useful...again it could be a one off or a three off if you like

  15. Took him to 24, but he's into double figures now. We'll all have our opinion on how good he is, same as every other player we sign, absolutely no issues with that. Stats may prove he's not the greatest striker to grace Fir Park - they also show only 10 guys have scored more goals than him so far this season. They certainly don't suggest he's incapable of playing above amateur level or isn't good enough to be regarded as a footballer.

  16. think most 23 year old strikers have double figures in terms of total career goals scored. No-one is doubting Bairs effort and he's clearly in a purple patch. I know this isn't popular to say at the moment but he's not a natural goal scorer, positioning, awareness etc just aren't there. BUT he's a hard worker , gives it all and going through a good patch so fair credit to the lad.

  18. Kettlewell is known for his love of Canadian amateur-level players. He hangs his hat on those kinds of signings.

  19. That’s easy. You don’t. I think the statements made by the present Chairman and CEO in December, albeit rather clumsily, made the point the club was seeking additional investment. This raised the obvious question as to what the strategy would be to do so. In this respect it would be reasonable to expect that the club would have a written business plan or strategy document as to what their approach was going to be to attract such investment.

  20. He commented on one of the Facebook posts. Thought it might be another Les Hutchison, but seems to be him alright. "I love it ….. well done guys 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 A more positive, light hearted approach may create some interest. The old negative attitude “it’s going to fail …. It will never work” …… hasn’t worked so far. Good to see a more positive approach. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ COYW"

  21. As I said before, look at most smaller company/brand advertising on television during the ad break of any TV show. They usually come off as cringe-worthy. But there's a reason for that. The only mistake I think the club made is in spending time coming up with this really imaginative video, and then using the blandest YouTube video title of all time. "WHY YOU SHOULD INVEST IN THIS FOOTBALL CLUB" That is piss poor. It has zero keyword value. The whole idea of this video is to try to make it go viral and get it out there. That title does absolutely none of that.

  22. I tend to agree but with this board you can't be sure, that said though even if it is only part of a wider plan the video is a shambles, embarrassing and not something a professional football club should be releasing. Yes it's had over 1 million views but only because its so bad all this any publicity is good shite that people spout is nonsense. The only impression you get from it is The club is skint and we need cash it makes us look like a local boys team on their annual fundraising drive, Yes by all means use social media to advertise and seek out investors but do it properly and professionally two words that don't seem to have any relevance at Fir park just now.

  23. Kettlewell said that Bair would be a project, I took from that that he would be coached through the season to improve parts of his game so that he would be closer to the finished product as the season goes on. I think he got more game time than expected early on due to injuries. But watching his link up play, then his assists and now his goals I think the project is a success.
