Grass pitch - plastic bounce. It's not terrible, but looks like it will be another ploughed field by November.
-
They're not bad, to be fair.

He's in charge of the tactical whiteboard. Not sure what's happened to the camera, but it looks like one of the colour filters is broken.

I'm not a fan of loans from any team in the same league unless we have a chance to sign them at the end of the deal. As much as anything it puts unnecessary pressure (and scrutiny) on the loanee, who is open to accusations of not trying (or worse, cheating) when a poor result for us would benefit their parent club.

When I watched us win the cup at Hampden, we sold more than 1000 tickets. Our biggest Friday night attendance was the recent Dundee Utd cup game. I can't remember the score for that one, maybe you can remind me,.
-
I said the games were better, not the facilities.
-
Games were always better with terracing. That's a scientific fact.
-
I was always amazed we kept him for so long. He'd be gone in a year if he played that well for us now.
-
Noooooooooooooo!

Honourable mention to wee Dan Twardzik, btw, who is still listed as 6ft in wikipedia.

I always used to wonder who enjoyed programmes like Mrs. Brown's Boys, but reading the "jokes" on here I can see their target demographic.

That's true. And fans remember keeper howlers that cost a goal much longer than they remember strikers' howling misses that also cost a goal.

I genuinely don't think he was as bad as some people thought he was, He had his moments, of course, but was at least at decent shot stopper. Something Gardiner struggled with on his best days. Aye, I mentioned Gardiner again - he was THAT bad.

From the Forest Official Site: "After making 10 appearances for The Millers in the first half of the season, the forward joined fellow League one side Cambridge United for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. The 20-year-old will spend the upcoming campaign north of the border, playing in the Scottish Premiership for Jens Berthel Askou’s team. Head of Football Development & Talent Management, Craig Mulholland, said: “Esapa is now entering an important stage in his career, and we believe this platform provides a positive opportunity for him to showcase his learnings over his Academy and Loans journey so far. “Our Player Pathways team have analysed the data, and we believe Motherwell, and the coaching staff there, will fit well with Esapa’s style and that he can contribute to success for their team. “We wish Esapa well for the coming season and look for to monitoring, and where appropriate, supporting his journey.” It shouldn't really be a surprise these days, but was interesting to read that they have a data analysis team dedicated to developing their youngsters, and identifying loan moves.

As I said above. If you didn't choose Gardiner as worst keeper, the only possible reason is that you never saw him play. Guys like Hollis and Woods were Randolph-esque compared to him.
-
I'm curious to see what kind of striker JBA brings in. Maybe none of the names were are throwing about suit what he wants - or maybe they all do. Who knows?
-
If John Gardiner isn't in everybody's nightmare 11, then consider yourself lucky you never saw him play.

Malpas was a key player in a Dundee Utd team that at it's peak, not only won the League, but proved they were one of the best teams in Europe. Jim McLean's team was talented and tactically astute. He had also played in World Cup and Euro finals. So when Malpas took over at Fir Park, I was looking forward to him bringing some of that experience to our team, and instilling them with some tactical nous we had previously lacked. Turned out the only thing he had learned from McLean was how to be miserable.

Good call on Ian St. John. We would likely never had signed Bobby Graham if it wasn't for the influence of his old team mate.
-
Given the way Simo likes to play, I hope so.
-
Gannon seemed to be great at scouting players, and definitely brought in some good performers. He just completely lose the plot when it came to coaching them.
-
If he could capture his Scotland U21 form, he'd be great, but never seems to have quite fulfilled his potential.

Wee Tommy is obviously a legend for the Cup Win. His first SPL season in particular, however, was an eye-bleeding park-the-bus system that still ended up with us in a relegation slot, saved only by league reconstruction. If any other manager had a season like that now, he'd be out the door by Februrary.
-
Malpas was easily the worst for me - on and off the pitch. Jock Wallace was second worst. Davie Hay gave us a great promotion season and I liked McCall both as a person and as a manager. We played some fun stuff under him with some impressive league finishes.

Biereth had 12 senior appearances (on loan) and 2 goals before he joined us, so sometimes it works out. I agree, however, we need someone (or someone else) with a bit more first team experience.
