  1. To his credit, it didn't take SK long to figure out how to best utilise van Veen.
  2. Before Robinson, McCall had even more success and he didn't need to resort to any grim stuff. Based on early season, SK looks like he wants to play from the back and through the thirds (as they say). Those tactics don't require wingers necessarily, but they do need players all over the pitch that can pass the ball.
  3. Presumably Tierney's new employers don't see him as lightweight, despite League Two having more than it's fair share of bruisers.

    The Pitch

It's changed days when the only complaint about our pitch is that some bits of grass are a slightly different shade of green.

    The Pitch

Looked great on the stream too.
  6. I have no idea if yesterday's strikers will end up being productive, but I wouldn't write them off in preseason. The classic slow starter was Chris Porter and he turned out OK. Higdon took time to get into his stride too.
  7. Replacing van Veen is a bit of a double edged sword
  8. If nothing else we're starting to see the answer to the question "what style will SK want to play when he starts bringing in his own players?" Definitely more passing from the back and definitely playing more through the midfield. It worked in spells, and it others it lacked cohesion. The movement for the goal was excellent. Queen's Park are probably as good as some of the teams we'll play in the league this season so a good early test.
  9. You come at the Queen's you better not miss Make your choice...
  10. Not sure why a CEO would be involved in any aspect of recruitment other than budgetary.
  11. In the UK it is. For the overseas subscribers like the Texan and me, it's a video stream.
  12. Looks like we're in luck - it's showing up now in the Motherwell TV site.
  13. Whether it ultimately works out or not, you have to think our recruitment strategy is a bit more creative than some of our neighbours' efforts (we're looking at you Paisley).
  14. It was amazingly poor - only the two relegated teams shipped more goals. From what SK and Frail have said it sounds like they are setting up the same way again this season, so could be an entertaining afternoon.
  15. He must give good lunches. I see the SPFL has cost the league a few quid too by fighting and losing their case against Ranger's sponsorship deal vs the Cinch deal. Something you'd have thought any decent contracts lawyer would have figured out when negotiating the original deal.
  16. It doesn't yet. For Saturday's game we'll only get an official stream if Viaplay say's it's OK (and let's us use their video). I'm not holding my breath on that one,
  17. St Mirren were in the same boat last season and they finished in the top 6. Sometimes the group stages are a predictor of form for the upcoming season, but it's a bit early to be reliable.
  18. The more successful players are after they leave us the better it is for us. Prospective signings can see we are a good step in their career progression and prospective buying clubs can see the value in players we are selling.
  19. Doonshamers? Take your pick...
  20. Watching the text commentary on the BBC site is like the good old Ceefax days.
  21. Kelly being deployed in his Scotland role tonight. Another interesting line-up. Might not be pre-season, but SK is definitely working through his rotations.
