  1. Huge 3 points tonight. Really disappointing start and sloppy goal to lose (again) but I thought we responded well and controlled the game. 72% possession first half tells you we were tge better team. Granted we could have been better with that possession, but when the other team sits in its very difficult for teams like ours to break them down. The changes second half definitely improved us and we scored 3 good goals and ran out deserved winners. For those questioning why we didnt start with that line up, you need to consider the manager knows who is carrying a knock and who can last 90 minutes and makes decisions accordingly. Some of the players were absolutely done after Sunday so no surprise to see a couple on the bench. 3 points of top 6 now with a run of winnable games coming up after Rangers away. Thats a free hit now. Hopefully we will go out and give it a go. Vale and Gent will certainly have a chance of starting having been rested somewhat tonight.
  2. Thanks for this information. As a contributing member I may be willing to increase my monthly contribution if the WS continue to hold a majority share and have control of the club. If an outside investor came in and wanted to take a majority shareholding and that was voted through, fair enough. However, I would not longer feel compelled to contribute financially. I would suggest that I would not be the only on to feel this way. So there needs to he an understanding with any investor that the money coming in from Society members cannot be taken for granted should they try and force through majority shareholding. There would undoubtedly be a further gap in funding they would need to meet in those circumstances
  3. 3800 may well have been the number. My short term memory isnt what it was! 😆
  4. Was sure Id read a communication from the club that as a result of "the video" that we were now up to 3,600 members. However, checking back the feeds, I cant see it. Anyone confirm or refute that?
  5. I thought so too. Was initially starting for Stirling Albion but has been getting minutes as a sub recently. May as well do that for us. Be good to see another youngster develop and cone through the ranks.
  6. Regardless of how good or bad anyone thinks Paton is. Not having him available even to freshen up the team say, around the 90 minute mark, hurts us and seriously reduces our options in midfield. Restricts us tactically too.
  7. Havent seen any timescale given. Was supposed to be a calf issue so wouldnt expect it to be a significant lay off, but its been a couple weeks already......
  8. I think when the season is done and dusted we need some sort of analysis done on the injuries we have sustained this season. It maybe that we have just been dreadfully unlucky, but I really dont remember too many seasons as bad as this one. When we are looking to be running with smaller squads, we really cant afford to be down to the bare bones as often as we have if we expect to remain competitive. I remember when Les Hutchison came in there was some investment made in injury prevention. We really need to be looking at that again. Paton will be a miss. With Halliday already injured we are going to be asking the same guys to go again and again until the end of the season. So no matter how little you rate him. It will effect the team/squad.
  9. That would make sense, with the revenue going into the club. And yes, happy to move the discussion.
  10. Aye he wont be with us for long. Just need to enjoy him while we can and extract as much revenue for him as possible.
  11. Im not sure he is on this one. Ive heard Lee Miller interviewed on this and he stated that it was more important for Lennon to be getting first team football at this stage of his career to allow him to develop. His attitude was that the money will come. Of course we would have to wait and see how far that could be tested, but I dont think he will be off at the first offer. It would be nice to see us improve his terms at the end of the season with a little bit longer on his contract to provide us with some protection. On the understanding that a significant fee would trigger a release clause. No guarantee he would sign, but you have to show the kid how much we value him.
  12. The Well Society own 70% of the club. To maintain a majority shareholding obviously requires 51% So the Society could sell 19% of its shareholding to an interested party and still maintain control of the club. Investors could of course try to buy up the other 30% of shares that are in private hands. The Society would have no control over that, but they dont have to. That money wouldnt go into the club though. It would go into the pockets of the individual shareholders. The club could obviously hold a share issue to generate money as other clubs have done, but I couldnt comment on how that would work or the pro's and cons of that......
  13. Sounds like the kind of thing that would sit well with the Well Society ethos.....
  14. No. It would be up to the Society as a whole to vote on the matter. The Society owns the shares not the individual. We are all "members" of the Society.
  15. No issues with Vale being substituted. The guy had put in a shift and, as you say, been targetted for some rough treatment. He had run his race by that time. Our issue is we have no one else who can do what he can do. Obika isnt mobile and Shaw doesnt appear to be able to get himself involved in games when he comes on. Not sure what Nicholsons instructions were but he got nowhere near Bair to offer any sort of support.
  16. You could point to any number of things if you choose to. My point was that after he went off Bair became isolated and we were not seen again as an attacking force therefore were unlikely to score a goal. Given we had to score to win, our chances ended with his substitution. Just my opinion mind.
  17. Thought Devine and Mugabi were the pick of the defenders. McGinn had a poor game by his standards giving the ball away quite a few times. Gent had a decent first half but struggled with Yang second half. Miller had a poor first 20 mins with his passing uncharachteristically poor. But it all seemed to change for him with his Zidane turn and lay off for the goal which was exceptional. Spittal was full of energy and industry and scored a great goal but faded second half. I thought Vale was our best player. Tidy feet, held it up well and is forming a very good understanding with Bair. Our chances of winning the game ended with his substitution.
  18. The Well Society currently own 70% of the club. We could sell 19% to an investor and retain majority shareholding to generate some revenue if the St Mirren model is so attractive.....
  19. And do Kibble gift them this money, or does it require to be paid back in the form of a soft loan?
  20. Depends on whether everyone is fit or not. No injuries and I think we have enough about us now to win this one. Gent, Devine, Vale, Spittal and Bair all essential to our success. Millar returning to the scene of his harsh red card might have a point to prove. Gonna go 2-0 Motherwell.
  21. Watched on tv. Thought Collum was actually not too bad today. Nothing too contentious and was surprised he stuck with his original decision on the potential red card for Butcher. A long way from his worst game at Fir Park.
  22. Thought our first half performance today was generally excellent. We were very disciplined without the ball and made Celtic play around us. We only really coughed up the one chance to Kyogo and Kelly did very well to close him down and block the shot. With the ball I thought we were very good and played some nice stuff and created the better chances. The goal we scored is a thing of beauty and young Millar showed great skill and maturity to set it up. Just a shame we couldnt capitalise on some of the other chances that came our way as a one goal lead is never a comfortable one. The changes Rodgers made in the second half really made a difference for them. Yang gave Gent a much harder time than Kuhn had in the first half and Idah's physicality and directness was a much different proposition to Kyogo. I see some criticising the players for their first goal and I guess there are always things we could do better, but its a fantastic cross and superb finish, so cant be too hard on the defence for that one. Thought we responded quite well to the goal and had a couple of good chances to get back in the lead before we eventually ran out of steam. I agree with others that a number of our players were out on their feet towards the end of the game and that substitutions were necessary. However, I also agree with those saying that SK got them wrong and over complicated things. Whether that would have made any difference or not, we will never know, but I do wish SK would just keep things simple. Overall, very frustrating to lose the point we probably deserved, but we are probably a couple of more windows away from having sufficient quality on our bench to avert what seemed inevitible today after the 70 minute mark. Hopefully though, the players will take some confidence from our first half performance and take that into Wednesday nights game which is the real biggie.
  23. Now THAT would really be something! Bad enough that the fans and the Well Society didnt know, but the manager himself? 😳😳😳
  24. There's already a thread on the AGM which appears quite positive. Can you expand?
  25. 15 goals is certainly achievable at this point That in itself would be quite remarkable given the circumstances.
