  1. I think he would make a descent SPFL player. I'm surprised that no manager ever sent him out on loan to develop. Best of luck to him.
  2. Looking for a good performance with hopefully Johnson & Moult putting themselves in the shop window
  3. Nothing meant by using him as an example, only he came to mind first - will have to see who we release before naming current squad but Leitch Springs to mind there although others are probably as good if not better.
  4. [quote name="Lobey_Dosser" post="470232" timestamp="1462779893 Wee bit harsh on McManus as you'd expect him to be an ever-present barring injury but I suppose we are cutting our cloth accordingly in order to pay back Les. Wee but harsh on the club, Les debt not due to be payed until 2020 if I recall correctly. Possibly reduced terms for McManus to increase terms for Hall - would that make u feel better?
  5. I don't really see what good it is to give McFadden a contract over one of the younger players we no doubt will release. I'd prefer to keep one of the youths and send him on loan to see how he develops - as an example, would we still have Lawless if we had done this?
  6. Cheers. I stand corrected
  7. Thought Cadden still had a year to run so effectively a 3 year deal. No?
  8. Possibly getting mixed up with Robbie?
  9. Ideally we will be looking at a 3 year deal but I suspect his agent will be trying for a 2 or even 1 yea deal, allowing him to move relatively cheaply which should attract interest if he keeps improving. Can see some folk going tonto on here if it's not a 3 year deal.
  10. [quote name="Lobey_Dosser" post="469417" timestamp=" Don't fancy Motherwell moving to Ravenscraig though, such a bleak area. The area is being continually developed so if the new stadium is done correctly with integrated bus/ train stops and some leisure facilities it could also become a venue for other events.
  11. I'd think that most fans know we cannot stay at FP due to costs and as such cheap or free ground at the 'Craig would be the preferred or only option but as you say the final decision will be with the new owners - aka the well society.
  12. We will no doubt end up at the 'Craig but I think firstly housing sales will have to return to 2006/7 levels before the club can sell the ground for a good profit and be able to afford to build a new stadium - even if we can get NLC to help.
  13. Sure I was at that game with my brother - seem to remember a picture or story about it in either the daily record or express the following week
  14. 4th place, a nice break for the players then back for a full preseason with McGhee to set us up for next year. That will do me.
  15. So should we keep every player who might go on to become a better player? - even loaning them out costs the parent club and we just don't have cash for that.
  16. Two weeks extra for the ground staff to get the pitch ready for a Euro game
  17. IIRC the usual way is that at the start of the season the SPFL assume the top six last year will be the top six this year and as such the home/away fixtures reflect this. If one team fails to make it then the team who have got their place also get their allocation of home/away games - this led to us previously having to play Celtic 3 times at Parkhead. The fact that ITC, Dundee & Dundee Utd all failed to make the cut means that things might be different this year but potentially we could see Celtic back at FP again this year.
  18. Not sure if I like the idea of both them starting as I dont think they link well but don't know who to drop and who to bring in - probably bring in Lietch.

    Europe

Europe could be an expense we can do without this year. I'd rather see any extra money we make if we finish in the top six go towards improving the squad rather than being used up on flights and hotels to some far flung place - or places - only to see us get get pumped out before we make any cash.
  20. I think that once we're safe MMcG will start playing some fringe players to get a better idea of what cover we need for next season.

    Relegation

Not the first I've read on here - some even thought they were talking football
  22. If Celtic beat Dundee then Dundee can't overtake us so no matter how the rest do we would be safe.
  23. Hopefully if Campbell keeps improving we try to extend it by a year again next year. I believe we should be trying to do this with any younsters who show improvement year on year. That way we either keep them or get a good return if we sell them on.
  24. My understanding of things is that people can stop paying whenever they like but that the idea is to build up a significant balance in reserve - £1.5M? - then there will be no further need to keep paying. LH said as much in his recent interview but I'm assuming that the society will wish to continue building the reserve and as such would be happy to keep accepting anything people were prepared to pay.
  25. I think he would have been 44 today - RIP Phil.
