  1. I wasn't there today but have just watched the second half on Alba - that was a strange one as, having heard about the sending-offs, I was expecting St. Johnstone to be giving us a pummelling but we never seemed to be under great pressure. We weren't threatening very much but St. Johnstone weren't threatening at all. It was only near the end when we were down to eight that they were exerting any pressure. We were really exposed at the last goal but that was to be expected considering the numerical advantage. I didn't pause it but Carson looked outside the box and Thomson obviously has to go with his initial judgement so I don't think he can be blamed if people can only prove him wrong by freezing video footage. I though McHugh's tackle was reckless and always would be a yellow card but it was very difficult to tell with Dunne's which may have been an accidental clip at worst. Initially I thought Carson looked poor at the third goal but it took a deflection off McHugh and he was trying to adjust his legs when it went through them. Strange game, second half anyway, where we didn't seem to play badly but ended up losing heavily due to a few moments of slackness, poor decision making and a lack of players in the end.
  2. Hope all that are going enjoy it. It's a bit different and a good example of coming up with new ideas. Well done to whoever is behind it and whoever is involved from the distillery side.
  3. And Falkirk and Livingston both brought on a fourth sub in extra time on Tuesday night without it even being highlighted as a scandalous mistake - probably because it wasn't.
  4. Great result when up against it. Are we the first team to use the four sub rule or has someone used it in an earlier round?
  5. That's a very impressive and perceptive piece of work. What a talented Motherwell supporter - perhaps the club should be looking to do a piece on him for the programme or see if he can work with them in some way.
  6. I assumed that to be the case (not the Dancing Queen bit) but it doesn't stop me thinking about bizarre situations involving Swedes in flares and jumpsuits.
  7. So did I. Was actually quite impressed with some of his passing out of defence - played with pace to feet. Yes he was guilty of a clanger but hopefully he's learned from that.
  8. Having not seen it, I have some very strange mental images of what this involved.
  9. So he's no latter day Ian McLeod (to be more Motherwell related).
  10. Can anyone tell me if there are still roadworks on Airbles Road?
  11. That's what I thought when I was estimating it as a 406x178!
  12. Guys at my work are very impressed with the sidekick being a cutting from a Universal Beam section - that's one for all the steel fabricators and engineers out there!
  13. It's Banana Man in the jester strip! I don't mind it although it was fairly obvious it was going to be Steel Man or very similar.
  14. I was wondering when the mascot was going to be revealed as I thought it was going to be the open day. Sounds like the sort of puff piece sky sports news love.
  15. I joined the society when it was set up and made the one off payment but didn't set up a direct debit when the scheme was changed. Surprisingly I have never been contacted directly by the society by phone or email to see if I would be willing to do so (although I do receive circular emails). I did sign up recently but I thought the society was trying to contact lapsed members, particularly with the Les pledge.
  16. I thought we'd been playing with a back three in all the league cup games. I don't like it but I can't see him switching now (unless you think Tait is pushing up into midfield).
  17. Much has been made of the latest signing of Plummer ahead of developing a youth - I get that for some positions but from what I've read in reports and on here, it doesn't sound as though we have any stand - out defenders ready to step up. I don't watch the under -20s so am happy to be corrected on this but it does look as though our fringe talent are almost all midfielders.
  18. I don't think we can play three at the back with McManus in the middle of the three. He's far too slow for it - even Edinburgh City were able to score when they got one chance to get past our midfield. If we're going to play him it has to be part of a back four.
  19. Oh dear. That's the most upset I've ever been through my years watching the team and that's just brought it all back although I like the editing to miss Burns' decisive penalty. The dummy he sold Bonner is always the stand - out memory I have of Walker but I hadn't realised Boyd was captain at that point which is incredible considering that continued until the cup win. And for all that's said out about him, an enthusiastic celebration after scoring against Celtic.
  20. Yeah, I'm not sure we could have fitted him in but I'm a bit disappointed Killie have got him. McCulloch has made some interesting signings and looks as though he's going to give promising youngsters a chance alongside some experience. Might be a bit of a risk but should be exciting.
  21. I don't know about Turnbull but Rose is probably about six inches taller than Campbell which I think is a big selling point to Robinson.
  22. That's the sort of result that gets the scouts circling.
