I agreed with you on the Championship but we had the Premier Division long before England had the Premier League. Perhaps we're just copying their copying. There has been innovation with the split although I appreciate it has been done elsewhere. I don't think there is a perfect size of league for us in Scotland but the split has grown on me despite the anomalies it throws up.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying but where are we copying the league names from? It's been a variation of the Premier league / division since 1976 and I wasn't aware we were copying anyone then. Ok - I'll give you the Championship.

Yes it was obvious which club he was referring to but I just felt it was such a comprehensive interview it could have been developed into a fairly sizeable feature on us rather than taking the one piece which alluded to Rangers in a roundabout way. I appreciate the Evening Times are in the business of selling papers and usually take an Old Firm slant where possible but they do normally serve us fairly well also and this was an ideal opportunity to write a really good article on us. We appreciate the information that the club now shares with the fans but Alan Burrows must be banging his head off the table in frustration that an interview like that only gets picked up as a Rangers titbit.

So the Evening Times have watched the Alan Burrows interview on the club website and taken "Rangers have been told" rather than any of the other things covered in a very wide ranging interview. Lazy journalism of the highest order.

I think Accies have been the only Championship team to win a play-off but that was maybe more down to Hibs in freefall.

As with his first stint, I don't think anyone can accuse him of alack of cocommitment even although he knew he was leaving. The effort he put in at Accies in particular was striking.

It may have been the way negotiations were carried out that left a bad taste in McDonald's mouth. It may have been suggested we wouldn't be looking for a fee then changed our minds and asked for one. I wouldn't have a problem with him staying on for coaching duties and also signing on as a player. We're allowed enough subs that he can be listed and come on on the occasions when we need an experienced head when we're trying to see the game out.
