  1. Paul Slane definitely, massive disappointment........utter bellend of a human. I always like Forbes but the lack of pace and more importantly a real lack of confidence was the reason his career slipped, Craig Brown continually dropping him didn't help the lads belief. I remember Paul Mills also, great talent but from a dodgy family and I believe he hit the drink. a couple of players from the 80s, early 90s, Stevie Bryce, another boy with great talent just confidence knocked out him from Tam Forsyth and wee McLean and Marty McBride, just ended up a ned waster from Blantyre.
  2. It was Flamenco, My dad was at the game and they had quite a few players that played in the 1970 world cup. Guys like Gerson etc. St John ran them ragged apparently.
  3. The Celtic fans i know are about: 70% (good guys) want rid of the Green Brigade and find them an emarrassment and hinderence to their club. 20% (questionable beliefs) Think they help the atmosphere at a generally dead stadium. 10% (moronic imbeciles) Believe their political agenda should be listenened to. i always follow the 70 / 20 / 10 % rule with most things to do with Scotland and its population!! 70% ok 20% iffy and 10% cocks.
  4. Paul Lambert in Dortmund Cooper against Aberdeen at Fir Park around 1992....total humiliation of the Dons defence (who were good at the time) for 90mins. I know its laughable but Neil Simpsons debut against Airdrie at Broomfield sticks out, incredible performance......unfortunately never played very well ever again for us. Johnny Gahagan around winter 1981 against Kilmarnock at Fir Park. I'm sure i'll remember many more from the past.........I live my life in the past.
  5. What a great season that was to watch, feel quite sorry for the younger generation that missed it. Tommy Coyne and wee Dougie were just phenomenal. I was always convinced if we had a keeper that year we'd have won the league!!
  6. I'm aghast at McGhee's opinion on Louis Laing as a midfielder? was he at the game? I understand completely him not saying anything too negative but that was out and out admiration for someone who had no idea what he was doing. I actually felt sorry for Laing, I think he's a decent big centre half but he was totally lost today......obviously, as he's never played there before!!! it has to be one of the worst celtic sides ive seen as well, awful. Anyway, i'll give it a month to see improvement, as much as it was honking today, I think it'll get better.....it needs to.
  7. Bring back Bara!! Worst 45 mins I've seen all season!! Shown zero!! Lasley, ainsworth and macdonald have to get on.
  8. Dortmund away semi final replay 91 twist & shout day, fir park midweek game at ibrox 93ish?? beat them 2-1.....Doooooougie!!!!!!!! Cup final day 91............bit too nervous to enjoy it fully tho. Any of Davie Hay's 81/82 season......first full season I had a childs season ticket....went to every game with my dad that season home & away...still have the programmes. Hard to put them in order......just been a privilege to have so many good memories connected to Motherwell FC
  9. Bitton and Brown missing tomorrow through injury apparently. Good chance for Pearson & Lasley to stamp some authority down on the centre mid. I trot along not too bothered by Celtic or their fans most of the year but I do like a visit on their forums prior to our games, gets the blood boiling pre-match....they really are a horribly vermin like bunch. I fancy us for a win tomorrow......got the feeling.
  10. Definitely!! As much as I thought Baraclough was a nice enough guy, and had some decent ideas, I never really believed he meant what he was saying, he had a definite civil servant air about him. As much as Mcghee comes over a bit twatish a times, I think he's a proper manager and wont suffer fools. I doubt very much the players will take a loan of him like they did with our previous incumbent.
  11. You've just described McGhee
  12. Quite good to see this guy Boles in who actually looks in prime health, as opposed to Gordon Crawford who could've be mistaken for a pish stained vagrant. What sort of message were we sending out, with a conditioning coach resembling a big issue seller.
  13. I think he's a safe pair of hands that'll kick some much needed arse!! I feel more confident he can do a better job than some the names touted about!! i'm hoping with age and a bit more realism, he's more settled at Fir Park than he was before. Whatever happens, he deserves respect, even from our most ridiculous fans, due to the way he handled the Phil situation.
  14. Lets face it do any of us know anything really about Valakari as a manager? I knew him as a player and he was average at best!! I doubt any of us know what the Finnish league is like? what his general tactics are? The players in Finland? Checking him out on Wikipedia doesn’t make for a rigorous vetting for our vacant managerial position. As much as I don’t like the guy, McGhee is unfortunately ticking the boxes for me. I like the idea of McCallister but he didn’t want it before because of the spending restraints so I doubt he’ll want it now. McGhee I think/hope is now too old in the teeth to be punting himself for bigger jobs so he could be a safe bet. We don’t need to like the guy to be a good manager…look at wee Tommy, he was an insipid wee character but he did a good job for us.
  15. Too many monkeys running the ship with the lack of an organ grinder. Thought it was a huge failing of Baraclough getting a number of players involved in team discussions, scouting games and giving signing recommendations. I can understand taking the views of staff in a normal office environment and treating people like adults but for football it doesn't work...too many egos and too many people thinking they're smarter and further up the pecking order than the next guy. I believe this has lead to the mess at the moment....too many thinking they're the leader and they're opinions are of greater importance. monkeys
  16. First attempt at goal and the bbc reporter stated it's not deserved...........sounds like we've been bowfin' against a truly woeful Dundee team. The Craigan love bubble may be slightly deflated tonight.
  17. My mate who's an Aberdeen fan thinks Calderwood was the best manager they've had since Ferguson!! My mate is also a complete fucking imbecile!! Just saying like... As for McGhee, just cant see it happening........still think it's Craigan...unfortunately!! or Craggs as some people call him........is it acceptable anywhere outside football to call a 40yr old man a nickname??

    Joe Wark

My first Motherwell hero, from a time when players were proper heroes. My dad got me my first 'Well top with the number 3 on the back because of him. Very Sad day...Thanks for some great memories Joe..... RIP
  19. I thought he came over a bitter little orange man the other night on Sportscene.......sounded just like almost every h*n I spoke to after those games. I felt the comment about Motherwell fans was a bit schnidey, but cest la vie....his time with us is over. Good luck to him driving the team minibus, pumping up the balls and cutting the oranges as 3rd in command with Scotland!!
  20. I'm just not excited about any of the proposed new managers, I think the last time I had a smidgin of excitement about a manager was when Harry Kampman arrived and he was quite possibly the worst (apart from maybe Bobby Watson) manager I've witnessed in my 40+ years of supporting Motherwell. I think it'll almost certainly be Craigan, not that I want him - I thought he was a very poor player, an imposter as a captain and a complete peddler of bullshit on the telly. His pandering over the h**s, Coisty and laterly with "Stuarty" last season made me want to vomit, culminating in his pathetic pre- match discussion before the first play off game when he told us all how "terrifying a full Ibrox is" and how Motherwell need to "worry about Rangers midfield as they could run over the top of Motherwell" made me realise why we failed to win any games at Ibrox during his entire tenure as captain. He then quickly retracted his comments at half time when he realised we were pumpin them!! If it's him then fine, i'll need to deal with it.....but I think he's way too close to the players, the fact they all want him should raise some serious alarm bells. Anyway that's my anti-Craigan rant over.............whoever gets it, will get my full support........for a wee while!!
  21. 12/1 for Lomas is a reasonable shout....irish connection with Craigan and Robinson, also Macdonald at Millwall. No thanks Craigan / McCall / Houston / Reid / Frail
  22. Mixu or Pressley i'd be reasonably happy with. Billy Davies will be touted and some of the other usual suspects. I really don't want Craigan, if he's in charge we'll be waiting for another 17 years before any wins at Ibrox, he's straight out the McCall school of bumming up the "terrifying" atmosphere at ibrox /parkhead (as he stated pre-match of the first play off game) He's also too pally with the players, although financially he would suit the board/society/whatever we have? as long as we avoid / Williamson/ Jeffries/Calderwood etc etc etc

    Baraclough Out

Good luck to the guy, I've no doubt he did his best. In a way I think he's been let down a lot by certain individuals at the club but a more clued up strong manager wouldn't have let that happen. We need a manager that'll rattle some cages and not ask players to give too much of an opinion....they need telt!!

    Baraclough Out

Whatever happens he was in charge of one of the happiest occasions of my Motherwell supporting life, so if he goes, he goes with my best wishes!! I think most of us were willing to give him another season due to a general slight improvement, the play-off games, and the feel good factor they brought. I have to say as well I was reasonably happy with the signings he’d made minus a couple of the loan players…..although the signing of 5 strikers did start to raise some concerns. I do now however, think it’s time for him to go as he’s not getting anything out of some of the good players we have, whether that’s his fault, the players fault or a mixture of both the buck definitely lies with him and as he says take it out on him not the players…..ok then Ian. My ultimate concern is who is to replace him? some of the names mentioned…eg Calderwood + any other dinosaur is just not the way to go…Craigan/ Robinson/ Leitch…definitely not….McGhee? maybe, but the way he left us originally, still sticks in my throat and is he really going to want to manage us again when our support sang at him about abusing children? I doubt any of us have the right answer but we are putting our faith in a board and chief exec with no real football experience and a track record of employing someone who they liked as a person and interviewed well with his middle management positivity speak!! Whatever happens, I’m guessing there will be many who are not happy!!
  25. That's the last away match i'll be attending.........£34 I can ill afford, to watch under achieving born losers.
