  1. It’s right enough, he did come to us and trained for a couple of weeks. He was desperate to sign but was screwed about a bit by McGhee and it all broke down on transfer deadline day. I know he was very much p1ssed off about it at the time. I think if memory serves me right he went back down to Leicester who immediately punted him on loan to someone as they didn’t want him. He ended up back at Dundee and was excellent for them for a few years.
  2. Hanley did ok tbf Dykes is a carthorse and should not be in the squad never mind playing. The boy Conway has been exceptional for Boro for about a year and should be playing. Anyway, I was disappointed with Biereth last night, I thought he was poor but I thought that Danish side were poor irrespective of their FIFA ranking.
  3. https://x.com/snsgroup/status/1964028463154663557?s=46&t=8C9VuM5V_21MGVj9jGzzoA If we had these two and we remained injury free we’d win the league this year.
  4. There’s quite a lot on social media from Liverpool fans talking about him too. Considering he’d played with them such a long time ago it speaks volumes of the impact he had when he arrived there. Injuries really screwed him over at Liverpool. I remember a friend of mine who knew him mentioned how he really didn’t like bill shankly which was the first time I’d heard anyone speak negatively about him. I think Bobby had got a really bad injury and was out for a long time and shankly didn’t speak to him at all after that. Would purposely ignore him if he were to walk past him. He then got him punted to Coventry? I think? without as much as a thanks and good luck. managers were mental back then.
  5. Really sad news, a good guy and an absolutely fantastic player.
  6. Yeah it’s just a shame. I do get it right enough. A legendary goalkeeper for Motherwell. Weird his league cup winning medal isn’t up for sale ?
  7. https://www.mctears.co.uk:443/auction/lot/lot-1807---john-johnston-of-motherwell-fc-scottish-cup-winners-medal-and-runners-up-medal/?lot=388184&so=0&st=&sto=0&au=1796&ef=&et=&ic=False&sd=0&pp=96&pn=1&g=1 I get the man is dead etc and there is money involved but I couldn’t sell anything like this from a family member. That’ll be my Motherwell blinkers going on though. I suppose if they are sold I hope they go to a good Motherwell home.
  8. That’d be great but I just don’t see him getting any more than 5. Happily eat my hat to be proved wrong.
  9. https://x.com/kilmarnockfc/status/1962923478333681973?s=46&t=8C9VuM5V_21MGVj9jGzzoA Kilmarnock have an even worse (for us) camera angle for that equalising goal on Saturday. So frustrating!!!
  10. I said “decent”, that’s somewhat down the pecking order from “great guy” “good guy” “ok guy” “he’s awrite” and then there’s “decent guy”
  11. I was speaking to a decent Celtic fan I know this morning and he likes Welsh. Said he’s a big honest centre half who is good on the ball and is steady, he thinks he’ll do well with us.
  12. Yeah he’d probably do fine there too. Not to be disrespectful of the position but It is the easiest position on the park imo. Any decent midfielder or defensive minded player could play there and not look that out of place.
  13. I think we are keeping Halliday for the back up left back. He’s played there in the past and might not be the worst option.
  14. You know what they are like though they are notoriously bad at transfer dealings. They’ll be sitting there with their biscuit tins out and lawell is like Arkwright from open all hours. (Sorry for the younger viewers, most folk over 50 will get it) he’s a big unit of a lad tho but he comes with a bit of an injury jinx. Anyway if he appears let’s hope for the best. Trust the process in the words of Russell Martin
  15. If it was an improvement fair enough but I’m not at all convinced by Stephen Welsh. He’s a player I was always happy to see playing against us. Celtic have been trying to punt him for years and their penny pinching prevented that from happening.
  16. We will be the invincibles this season…… and finish on 38 points
  17. As much as Ward is decent on the deck and a potentially good No2, we need a goalie who can use his hands so I hope Ox is back. touch wood slattery is fit and the international players come back uninjured. striker is a concern for me and I still think AP is the best we have but I’m sure JBA will know more than any of us by watching them in training over the next 2 weeks to make a judgement call. a win is a must
  18. Big solid looking side they have. Lennon isn’t a wee guy either but these guys are units. I’d imagine he’ll have to bide his time
  19. Take that back 2-1 to udinese. Inter goal just chopped off due to VAR
  20. Miller on the bench tonight. 2-2 at the moment. Both teams look good.
  21. That’d be great news, we really missed him yesterday. Said did fine but the 4 of Watt, Fadinger, just and slattery play really well together.
  22. I watched him quite a bit at the game yesterday as I have been quite critical of him in previous games, and in the first half he wasn’t great but in the 2nd half he worked his ar5e off and helped create quite a bit. He also played a big part in both our goals.
  23. Fair enough. I prefer a good unreasonable snap judgement though 🤣👍
  24. Well he hasn’t looked good at all? Has he impressed you? clearly we need to give him time and games but we are all entitled to a view, even if it’s a really early view. on another player, Charles cook has played less time and looks like he will be an impressive signing. Or am in making too early an opinion on him?
  25. I heard this morning he might be out for a few weeks, not sure what the issue is but it’s disappointing. a centre half and centre forward is required. I actually felt AP did better yesterday and was decent in the 2nd half in particular. In the cameos Hendry has made I have seen nothing so far other than him throwing his arms about in the air when players aren’t passing to him. I’d accept that if he was in good positions but he’s stood static next to defenders,. He also seems to have a poor touch and can’t hold the ball up and is unaware of players in better positions. I’ve not been impressed.
