Pity we didn’t give him enough time to adjust and break through, thought he had something about him. He had his chance, the occasional good game but for me he was not that good, so he would probably be a regular starter in the current team. fizoxy
Tierney was injured for a huge chunk of his time with us and when he was out on loan, and seems to have landed at his level. He had the knack of getting on the end of things on the box, but was anonymous in midfield.

Another one we will need to look after thru a long rehabilitation. Do the football gods not know Ketts has left and his bad luck isnt transferrable? wellfan
Cammy Murray died yesterday. Following his footballing career, he became a local legend in Lanarkshire, teaching PE to generations of kids at Lanark Grammar.

sinjy
Cammy was a real gentleman. He was so pleasant and easy going. I got to know him in the late sixties when I was a reserve player and Cammy drove me to training. I met him a few times in Hamilton and he was always up for a chat. He had a mountain of stories from his long career in the game. He once told me that one of the best things he did in football was to get a leave of absence from his work (he was a PE teacher and part time coach at Fir Park) so that he could be involved in the preparations for the 1991 cup final when he worked along with Tommy McLean and Tom Forsyth. I'm so sad to hear of his passing.
joewarkfanclub
Never saw him play, but remember him on the coaching staff during the 91 Cup run. RIP Cammy.
mio
I was fortunate to know Cammy and his family and it’s a really sad loss. An absolute gentleman and a guy who would always have time for you. He was well respected at every side he represented as we can see from the genuine messages of condolences online from st mirren and Arbroath. Rest in peace Cammy.

I mean, by contrast, Havertz and Martinelli? We were fortunate to have seen Mika at FP, and if that clown Dunne The Bun hadn't whacked him, we would have a much better season last year. We complain about our recruitment but what about those in charge at Arsenal?
weeyin
I know he wasn't a full blown Arsenal youth player, but he was in their youth set up later on. There are all sorts of complicated rules surrounding Financial Fair Play where academy player income gives you some kind of credit I believe. Maybe that's why they sold him. But they only got £4m for him. He would cost them £40m to buy back right now. Thats mental.

I took a look at the rules, and it's a bit more complicated than that. Clubs are allowed to amortize an incoming transfer fee over 5 years. As youth players are considered to be "free" any profit from their sale is regarded as pure profit. That means Mika's £4 million fee can be offset against £20 million worth of incoming transfers - £4 million a year over five years. So it might not be a huge number, but still means those academy players are worth 5 times more than than their transfer fee to a club. Of course, from a footballing perspective, it looks like it was a terrible idea and Arsenal played themselves out of the title race by having no available strikers. A quick look at the Arsenal fans' opinions and they couldn't believe he was ever sold.
