It's about identifying individual players that fit into our system and style of play. We should be looking at all available markets - Ireland, England, Scotland, Scandanavia and elsewhere. I never said that we "sign a league." I said that when we sign players from the lower reaches of the English game our fans tend to complain a bit, despite the quality being comparable with the Championship, if not better. Of course, it always depends on the player. But scoring goals in the Championship isn't an indicator of their ability to do it at our level, as evidenced by Shields's time here.

He seems like a genuine hard-working leader. 2. The next manager won't be Richard Foster now.

I thought he was retired when he signed for us, other than the equaliser at Parkhead he has contributed feck all. I hope he's a better coach than player, he should call Stevie Woods and ask him how he's managed it.

It's also clear that he knows it and isn't trying to play on His injury record was well known before we signed him, so it should never have happened, hes contributed feck all. He has been getting pelters on here on a regular basis, now it's awww poor John he's had to retire, as i said he's been retired since he signed. Only my opinion, maybe harsh but very fair. 12 clubs over 16 years and only 86 goals in total, just over 5 goals a year average ie he's not very good. By being a better coach than a player, probably, which would hardly be a first.
wellfan97
Dundee United fans seem to think we were in for a left back Will Ferry from Cheltenham but they've beaten us to him.

I don't know about this particular case, but if we don't attract some additional investment from some source then this will become increasingly common. The likes of Ross County and St Johnstone and maybe even Dunfermline and Falkirk will be pipping us to signing targets.

FirParkCornerExile
For a club thats always pleading poverty we create some amount of backroom jobs, if someone left fair enough but if not the money cold have be better spent.

I wouldnt be expecting the playing budget to be sacrificed for a back room wage if a backroom member of staff hasnt left, that's my very point. Investment - beyond what we're used to from the Well Society to keep us afloat - is the only way we'll be able to compete with those you mention. So potentially the club hasn't gone over budget signing him as a coach Am sure someone wiser than me will rock up shortly to tell me I'm wrong though Whether he had another option of a player is immaterial if we've swapped his playing wage for a coaching wage and no one has come of the coaching staff we've in essence wasted a wage that could have gone to the playing budget.

I don't see any issues with it. He had a contract extension that isn't being triggered We had budgeted for another year as a player if we had taken up 1 year extension. However he has retired so a possible wage on a player has went on another coach. That's not a dig at Obika, and if he turns out to be a good coach then great. I just feel we are not prioritising the key areas
