I honestly think Stam is going to come good for us and prove his worth next season.

I am predicting 15 plus goals from him next next season and Slattery at least 10 offt it's going to be sensational.

I’ve a feeling that we might get an offer or two for Slattery over the summer and if it’s enough then he will be away.

Good to see DT was at the match on Wed.  Pretty sure my uncle was trying to superglue his feet to keep him in Lanarkshire.

Wonder if he regrets not moving abroad v's moving to Celtic.

I feel for him, and can’t help but think he’s been badly advised by his agent. He’s certainly earning a fortune but his career has declined, I just hope Cardiff move him on as they will not be able to afford his wages and he can kick start his career again as he’s a young guy still.
for me he’s perfectly suited to German, French or Italian football.

In my opinion he’s still probably the most technically gifted young player I’ve seen break through at Motherwell. I considered him better than the likes of Gary Mac and Phil.

Agreed - I know Lennon gets and deserves lots of plaudits but DT was for me way above everyone .

I’d put DT up there with Bobby Russell in terms of technical and agree foreign leagues would suit him .

From the player we seen at us,it's crazy to think turnbull will be playing league 1 football next season.its a totally different game abroad and it's no wonder the likes of max Johnstone is doing well, any youngster should be advised to avoid the cesspits of Ibrox and parkhead at any cost.

I really can’t see lennons father allowing that to happen? I’d hope not anyway. He needs to head abroad. He could use DT as the example.
as for DT, I understand that both Lecce and Cardiff both offered similar amounts to sign him from Celtic but cardiffs wages were wild in comparison and he opted for there. When these offers come in, I can’t help but think agents play a part.

I don't think so tbh - we won't need money for Slattery once we sell Miller - and whatever offer we get for slats is likely to be peanuts - particularly if it's to another spl team

I think DT would have been better served abroad, but he was also unlucky with injuries at Celtic. Even so, he made 100 appearances, scored 25 goals and picked up a handful of medals along the way.

At his young age, ff he'd stayed fit, it might have set up him for a bigger move elsewhere. Maybe not a Henrik Larsson type move to Barcelona, but certainly a Virgil van Dijk type move (before he ended up at Liverpool).

His move to a struggling Cardiff side was a strange one, though - and then he picked up another injury which interrupted his chance at regular football again.

I always like to see Scottish talent test themselves overseas, so hope Miller takes that route.

If we sell Lennon is a loan move a possibility? I know it sounds ambitious but If ye don't ask

He was a first choice starter when he got back to full fitness, so not sure Cardiff would want to loan him out. Sell him, maybe, if they need some cash after relegation.

My mate said exact same about chilvers last night

Nah, his eighties hairstyle and gimpy arms can stay where they are. He occasionally looked good against us, which isn't exactly high praise.

How much do you consider peanuts to be?

Not as much as Slattery is worth to us. If someone offered us 100k for Slattery Id fire it in the bin

Hands off Slattery 🤣

Im serious. We don't need money for Callum if we sell Lennon and that is that

In fact even if we don't sell Lennon we are not getting rid of Slattery - that will be the very big hill I will die on

I just texted my brother and asked him would he sell Slattery for 100k And he's not always been the biggest fan of Slattery. His response was ha ha God no. He said more like a million and no one will offer that but if he plays like he's been playing recently he will move on for a lot more money than we could pay for him after he sees out his contract.

100k =peanuts

I personally wouldn't sell him for 500k but I'm a bit biased - no shame there either

At the risk of sounding like that WWF wrestler from the 80's, everybody has a price.

Of course but Slattery has a year to go on his contract and no one has made a bid for him the entire time he's been with us. He's an asset to us and I would prefer to keep him. Particularly as we will get hopefully decent money for Lennon in the next few months and we won't need to be selling off other players.

There's surely got to be some consideration as to whether selling or keeping Slattery is worth it. I'd say keep given his current form.

We missed Spittal when he moved. I don't think we can afford to lose Miller and Slattery at the same time

Just typing out loud - not aimed at anyone in particular

The problem is, Slattery could have a cracking season and then walk for nothing next summer, just like Spittal did. The club will have a better idea as far as his plans are, and how open he would be to signing a new deal potentially.

What I would say is, any player entering the last year of his contract who has any kind of financial value has to be considered fair game for sale if the right offer comes along.

I agree and if, by some miracle, a club offered £500k - £1m for him then I'd say "sell".

That's always true, but has to offset against the value he generates if he stays. An extra round in the cup plus a couple of league positions is worth a few bob.

Not an exact science, and carries an element of risk.

Plus, you can't afford to keep selling your best players unless you want another battle for 11th spot.

Slattery has a really bad injury record since arriving at us, I can’t see a team buying him until they see that he can go a full season without a spell on the sidelines.

id be really surprised if any team would be willing to take a punt on him right now.

id hope he gets a good pre season, stays clear of injury and has an excellent season with us. If he goes at the end of it, even as a free agent, then good luck to him.

I agree that selling Slattery this close season would be far from ideal. Especially as we are resigned to losing Miller.

However, we are a selling club and we cant dictate when another club will come in for our best players.

Its kinda stating the obvious. But the club will have a valuation for all our players where we say, ok, on you go son, and it will be weighed up against the potential value of keeping them vs the risk of injury.

Personally, Id be looking at extending Slattery now to protect ourselves. He may not sign, but given we looked after him through a career threatening injury, he might. As long as there is a release clause if a bigger club comes calling.

That way everyone is happy.

Based on current form, and if Miller leaves, Slattery will be our most important/valuable asset. We should look after that.

He played 31 games in his first season and 29 in his second. To be fair as well the ACL injury was a freak one. He's had no other injuries since signing for us as far as I'm aware.
