Stuwell2
I’d take him back as a permanent move to see if we can improve him and sell him on in 2 years but a loan deal would be pointless unless Rangers are willing to give us some cash for our work.

Kmcalpin
I've no inside knowledge at all, but will be surprised if there's not more comings and goings before Monday at 2300 hrs. One or two additions and the same number leaving, either permanently or on loan.

I read that this year we're also closing at the same time. From an article in the Scotsman: "The Scottish Premiership transfer window will officially close on Monday 1 September, at the earlier time of 7pm. This is slightly earlier than the last few windows and is aligned with many of the top European leagues."  https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/scottish-premiership/latest-premiership-news/when-does-the-scottish-transfer-window-close-how-late-can-celtic-rangers-and-rivals-make-transfers-5256299

weeyin
The lower league clubs can bring in loans after the window closes, but not the Premiership.
fizoxy Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM The record posted yesterday that the window closes at 11pm. Wouldn't be surprised if they were wrong since their idea of journalism is guessing and searching forums, but finding definitive info on the correct time is proving difficult. Unless we don't sign a CB in the next few days, the only activity I see happening on deadline day is outgoings.

It's been confirmed to Record Sport that the deadline is the usual time of 11pm up here despite the change down south.

weeyin
I got my info from, amongst other places, The Scotsman online: When does the Scottish transfer window close? When is transfer deadline day? The Scottish Premiership transfer window officially opened on Monday 16 June 2025, though in a change to usual summer windows, an additional transfer window was created between 1 June and 10 June, allowing clubs involved in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to register players.  The Scottish Premiership transfer window will officially close on Monday 1 September, at the earlier time of 7pm. This is slightly earlier than the last few windows and is aligned with many of the top European leagues.  Talksport agrees: The Premier League, EFL and Scottish Premiership summer transfer windows will close on Monday, September 1, at 7pm. Maybe we should jsut get everything done by Monday morning to be sure.

Especially if they made that choice as a 15 year old.   I’m not sure he made a poor choice. He broke into that Rangers team aged 16. He has been unlucky with injuries and also the constant change of managers at the club.  I think an injury free Rice within a stable environment would have played 50 plus games for them.  I agree staying at Motherwell would probably have resulted in more performances, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. weeyin
I think it was a poor choice because Rangers have a very poor record of developing young Scottish talent. They might prove me wrong with Rice, but their recent history is very much throwing money at overseas imports.
