2025/26 Ins & Outs Discussion

The record posted yesterday that the window closes at 11pm. Wouldn't be surprised if they were wrong since their idea of journalism is guessing and searching forums, but finding definitive info on the correct time is proving difficult.

Unless we don't sign a CB in the next few days, the only activity I see happening on deadline day is outgoings.

Window used to close at 11pm, but the leagues agreed to close at 7pm this time

September 1 is the final day clubs can register transfers in Scotland. It's been confirmed to Record Sport that the deadline is the usual time of 11pm up here despite the change down south.

I got my info from, amongst other places, The Scotsman online:

When does the Scottish transfer window close? When is transfer deadline day?

The Scottish Premiership transfer window officially opened on Monday 16 June 2025, though in a change to usual summer windows, an additional transfer window was created between 1 June and 10 June, allowing clubs involved in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to register players.

The Scottish Premiership transfer window will officially close on Monday 1 September, at the earlier time of 7pm. This is slightly earlier than the last few windows and is aligned with many of the top European leagues.

Talksport agrees:

The Premier League, EFL and Scottish Premiership summer transfer windows will close on Monday, September 1, at 7pm.

Maybe we should jsut get everything done by Monday morning to be sure.

While I don't think Rice is a good option (particularly not on loan) I would never close the door on a good young player who made a poor choice. Especially if they made that choice as a 15 year old.

I’m not sure he made a poor choice. He broke into that Rangers team aged 16. He has been unlucky with injuries and also the constant change of managers at the club.

I think an injury free Rice within a stable environment would have played 50 plus games for them.

I agree staying at Motherwell would probably have resulted in more performances, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I think it was a poor choice because Rangers have a very poor record of developing young Scottish talent. They might prove me wrong with Rice, but their recent history is very much throwing money at overseas imports.

Wilson needs games to develop. He is the complete opposite of our other left back. ODonnell can play left back. So if Wilson goes and frees up a spot in the squad then fine.  Better players in any position can never be scoffed at.

We need a central defender with a bit height to him and is comfy playing the way Jens wants to play out from the back.

I am not confident that McGinn,Gordon shall be available for the whole season and i dont think Balmer is that fancied so a CB is a must.

He needs more than games I hate to say it, unfortunately don't think he's good enough! He's chunked up that much he can hardly run and because of that never takes on a man, always passes backwards and inside. Pity as I thought we had another find from the youth teams this time last season but he has totally regressed since.

Chunked up, as in lifting too many weights, or not eating properly?

I presume we must have signed another left back who is still to be announced. Otherwise we are pretty short there, with only SOD or Halliday ever having played there before? Neither have the legs to do what Longelo does.....

My thoughts too Joe. Having said that this move doesn't surprise me, as Ewan Wilson has failed to develop after a promising start and doesn't seem to fit our current system.

Oh totally.

Boy needs games to see if he can develop past this current plateau that he is on.

Not currently what we need at left back, but who knows, he could be in the future.

We definitely do need cover for Longelo though. Dynamic fullbacks are integral to how we are playing.
