The header being a sitter is a load of nonsense and the first goal was made by his willingness to go for the ball, get in front of the defender and flick it out to the runner. Might not score as much as we - and him - would like but he does contribute.

We could always play Longelo through the middle. Watch the highlights of his goal, when RCC goes through both Henry and Longelo are about 20 yards deeper, Longelo sprints and Hendry jogs, either could have got that goal but only the full back was prepared to make the effort.

I’m not saying he doesn’t contribute. He does. The issue is that he keeps missing chances you’d expect a number 9 to put away. The header yesterday wasn’t the sitter; that was the chance he fluffed just before it. The comments on the header are more about the fact he couldn’t even get it on target. He just doesn’t do the bread and butter of a striker, which is burying those chances.

He's got decent pace, works hard and knows where the goals are.  Although he's missed a few chances he's not regularly lurking enough in the penalty box.

This is where the issue I think is, he's a penalty box striker who if we whip in loads of crosses etc into the box I'd wager he'll stick a few away BUT that's not how we're playing the game.  

I do think a confident AP with a certain type of play would work well for him but that's not how we're playing.  Not can I see it working for Hendry.  Sule maybe if he return but for now I could see us being more effective without either AP or Hendry. 

First half yesterday we played lots of cut backs from the bye line into the box & he couldnt get on any of them.....

For me AP’s header is fine the ball was just too high for him to get it.

I still think we're short of a main striker up front. Stama is falling short of what we need and Hendry isn't the kind of player we need, bless him. His signing raised a few eyebrows at the time, as he's never been a true goalscorer.  

I certainly don't think that we are anything other than a "work in progress" and that any chance to improve the squad should be looked into. My main point would be that it takes time for any new players to fit into a new club. Previous successes like Baer and Van Veen only flourished in the second half of seasons. Bringing in anyone in January therefore becomes more of a gamble, especially if we are looking for immediate results. We may also have players coming back from long term injuries. Perhaps we will get more from seeing what they can offer, rather than taking a chance on someone from outside the group?

People might think i am being daft but......how about getting Lennon back in January on 6 month loan?  Usinese get him having first team football plus Lennon has chance to get in world cup squad. Just my view

Is Miller good enough for our current midfield ? Rumour on my radar is that he's going on loan to Celtic with a £4M buy option.

I'd hope for a second left back if possible. Koutroumbis did well there yesterday but having someone naturally left footed there automatically widens the pitch...

We dont need another midfielder on the books, Watt, Slattery, Just and Fadinger  are doing just fine. At least one ideally two strikers should be top of the wish list

Oh his current form, Miller would be on the bench (which sounds like a ridiculous thing to say, I know).

I'd like to see a striker, a left back and another central defender in the mould of Welsh.

If we lose any players then, of course, that will change.

And anybody we bring in has to have played in a similar system because we don't have 2 or 3 months to get them up to speed.

Our squad seems pretty large, with our bench now containing multiple players who would consider themselves in the equation to start most matches I'd think. Question is, do we have room for more players to come in during this window without people going out the door 1st?

Financially, I'd say yes. Numbers wise probably one more if thats JBA's wish. However, there are a large number of complicating factors. I suspect there will some outgoings and maybe one return (Ewan Wilson, who hasn't set the heather on fire at Kirkcaldy).  We might also receive bids for some players and Welsh's position isn't 100% guaranteed. So its a bit unclear at the moment.  We also have the prospect of long term absentees like Nicholson, Robinson, Stuparevic, Sule and McGhee to consider.  Some of those could be punted out on loan. 

Potential outgoings? Rumours of Aston Oxborough being unsettled; Kofi Balmer, Andy Halliday, Esapa Osong. 

Loans for Luca Ross and Dylan Wells (whatever happened to him?)  

I don't think we need or will do a massive amount of business next month; more of a tidying up/fine tuning exercise.

That would be a decent move for him, and he might be the kind of player that could keep them challenging with St. J.
