When in the same breath he’s saying about Bowie being worth £6.5m….. get yersel to fk Andy.

When both of those poisons have recently bought Idah for £9m and Chermiti for £9m and TJ quoted for £3m utter baws!!

I didn't say it was my valuation of Tawanda, but 3m is still a decent wedge, he is worth more imo

The quicker we get shot of Halliday the better if I was a manager I would not be wanting my players sat actively celebrating other teams in our leagues goals don't care wither they are a fan or not and slating other teams players on their podcast. Now he's talking valuations of his own teams best players. It's a shame cos he seems like a good guy around the dressing room but his social media stuff draws unnecessary headlines for the club.

Why does anyone think that anything Halliday says in a podcast will have any relevance to what fee Maswanhise goes for?

His goals, the length of contract and how big Brian Caldwells balls are, are really the only factors.

Everyone just needs to chill oot a bit!

It's not going to have any effect on the fee,the problem is halliday has just created an unnecessary headline for a player that for all we know could start to be getting unsettled with all the speculation,he should be keeping his mouth shut.

If the club was worried about it they would ask him to stop.

While he sometimes crosses the line, I think he's a net benefit for all the positive stories he tells.

This weeks presser with JBA will be a fun one if the JT stuff comes up again.

I'm not a huge fan of open goal, but Halliday has been a positive for us and generally speaks well about the game. As said above, he'll know what he's not allowed to talk about, and there's been a few times where he has refused to go into detail about certain things.

The rags are desperate to make something happen with JT, and we've seen them run with tranfer links for literal years, so you just have to ignore it. I'm very sure that even bin fires of clubs dont take transfer advice from hacks wo are desperate to fill up column inches with AI slop.

A large factor in a transfer fee is the length of contract and what the players current terms are. Think of it as compensation for the selling club to replace the player. There's other market factors that come into play, as well as how desperate a club is to sell, but when you see a club like Hearts or Hibs get bigger fees than us for similar players, the length/value of their contract is a big part of it.

The player is also going to be more expensive the further up the food chain they go because they've proven themselves at a higher level.

On our players, we will have our valuation, and when that's met, we will sell them. That's the model we're trying to follow.

Absolutely raging at that Halliday on TJ and the only reason I can see is he's publicly low balled a valuation as the currants are interested.  He has no right as a paid employee of the club to band about such pish.  As for those staying oh it's still a lot of money, get a grip. You don't see other clubs drip feeding shite valuations of their players.

Get that prick to fk out the club asap.

Does he think noone on the press watches Open Goal??

There is no excuse to mention this.  He can politely pass, but no he wants his puddle drinking mates to pick him up on the cheap.  No ginger bottles allowed guys, sorry.

Not sure how Halliday has "low balled" us.

He was asked what he thought Maswanhise was worth and he said "at least £3m".

Thats the minimum.

But its the January window, if clubs are desperate and we stick to our guns, the value could be significantly higher.

Pesrsonally I dont think Tawanda is going anywhere this window. The club and the manager have proved they know what they are about. They will have a quiet word in his ear and tell him to keep doing what he is doing and an even bigger offer will come in the summer.

And it probably wont be from a team in our league.......

There we go…. It’s only a matter of time. Daily record report

“Motherwell insider says it’ll take £3m fo Celtic and rangers to get Maswanhise” lol

I know many of you don’t think it’s a problem but if I was manager of the club and I had to deal with crap like this initiated by one of my own players I would be going fkn mental.
Just another problem the manager now needs to deal with and answer to at his press conferences…. A problem he can do without

Jens will no doubt just ignore the report in a shit stain news rag that he doesnt read and get on with his job of preparing the team.

Of course he will probably get asked about it in this weeks presser, but he has already shown he likes to swat those kind of questions away like flies.

I look forward to more one liners and that rye smile.

This is from the same paper that read a made up transfer rumour on a hibs website and ran the story as fact! Not the first time they have done that. The main stream media with regards to scottish football is and has always been shocking. All they want is readers and listeners and their beloved glasgow teams to win without competition. The pundits are mostly failed managers and coaches.

The easy answer to any enquiries is Not for sale in this window, but if you really want our player then offer us the same level of millions you have spunked on average joes from abroad.

With Shankland out for a bit JT has a decent chance to capture top goal scorer for this season.
another few Bob into his value at end of the season

I’d like to see us keep this group for next season in Europe, assuming we get there. Perhaps talk with the likely transfer targets and convince them to stay to see how well we can do in Europe then they can go after that

The journos are going to ask the same old boring questions regardless of anything Halliday says - it adds zero to the narrative they are already pushing i.e. any player having a good season is a transfer target for Celtic and Rangers.

And the club is going to give the same answer - also regardless of anything Halliday says.

Unless the club has cleared him to discuss such topics, I’d say Halliday’s crossed a line here. His insights on Motherwell can be valuable, but commenting on a player’s value amid intense transfer speculation is probably pushing it too far.

I just watched Stephen O’Donnell on Go radio and he was asked about Maswanhise.

Clearly O’Donnell is a Much smarter cookie than Halliday. Discussing that he’s a contracted Motherwell player and if any bids do come in that the board and manager will do what is best for the club.

I can’t help but think that this sounded like a pre recorded message and maybe one which has been “advised” following Andy’s word soup last night.

If we were offered £3m for any player that cost us nothing and had only been with us for 6 months I think he would be gone. Hopefully with a decent sell on clause as an addition. Especially one as raw and relatively unproven as Maswanhise.

Askou was recruited on the basis he would develop players. Young and old.  Is that not exactly what he is doing? So we should not be surprised or disappointed at others showing an interest.  Securing players on longish term contracts and selling them on our terms is the gameplan. If an offer is not considered good value then it will be rejected. Watt still being with us and not on his way to Poland as an example if what I was told is true.

As for Halliday. He said he hoped Maswanhise would not be on his way and also that he considered £3m as the minimum we should expect. Nothing wrong with that. He did not say we should accept £3m from Rangers or any other club. Personally I think setting a minimum figure did us a favour as it will  frighten off clubs seeking to rob us (Celtic). SODs follow up today merely emphasised we will not give our contracted players away at a bargain price. But we will listen to offers. We have to sadly.

Given our model and our on field success so far,  the interest being shown in our players is confirmation of the progress we have made. It's a good thing.  I trust our Board to manage any departures so as not to disrupt that progress to any great extent. I also trust our Manager to continue to identify and develop players to fill the gaps which will inevitably need to be filled.

I sincerely hope the likes of Maswanhise, Watt, Just, Fadinger and others are still with us until season end at least. But I am realistic enough to realise that may not be the case. I just hope Askou is given the funding to bring in suitable replacements. He has earned that right and I am sure he will already have identified a few players just in case the inevitable happens sooner than later.

Just consider the mess we were in only a year or so ago under Kettlewell. This conversation way back then was inconceivable.

It’s quite incredible what has happened over the past year. At this time last year we had something like 12 loan players? Right now we have none and about 5 of our players that are the target of big clubs along with potential big fees. The main big fee is for a player who wasn’t even selected in the first 11 last January.

i know I may be mocked but I sincerely believe if we keep our players and win the next 3 league games (which is entirely possible) that we will be in the mix for the league. Again a year ago to think this would be laughable.

In the mix I think  is highly unlikely but I think if we won our next 4,  which I also think is unrealistic, we certainly would  be in the mix.
