The sarcastic response to the questions about Watt and Hendry made me wince a bit. I know it's a stupid question given he answered the same question last week but journalists need to do their job.

Too much of it and there will be journalists who will be itching to put thr boot in should we hit a slump...

The journos love him for the big tease that he is.

I thought it was very clever of Askou. Not only did his comments reassure us fans, they also sent a clear message to the Club Board. Promises made should be promises kept and the time to consider a sale is at season end.

I’ve a feeling that there’s some sort of agreement or understanding between the club, the manager and the players to see out the season.
I feel that there’s players are totally onboard with JBA and are willing to wait and see how we finish the season and some may also agree to stay on if he’s stays and that the club will back their decisions.
For the club it’s a win win situation as everyone’s stock will only increase (injuries avoided) and Europe could be a money spinning miracle should the core of the team remain and additions are made.

From what we've heard from the Chairman, CEO, and JBA himself, they all have a good working relationship and are in constant contact, so I dont think he needs to send messages to his own board through the media.

I took what he said as making it public that the club is aligned, which means it would take a ridiculous bid for a player to change anything.  We will have our price, like anyone else, but there's definitely a premium in January.

I'm very heartened from JBA's presser. It seems like a steady as you go approach is no longer acceptable. Its no longer our plan to just keep a successful squad together for as long as we can; rather we want strengthen it if possible by bringing in another 1/2/3 players. No massive overhaul required just gradual improvement. Our rivals will be trying to strengthen this window so we must keep that bit ahead of them.  We'll see what the next 10 days or so bring.

O'Neill was supposed to let Jens know on Monday about Welsh.

He's not the diplomat he's portrayed.

TBF, most diplomats just say what their bosses tell them to say, but nicely.

We should be signing a CB anyway regardless of Welsh situation/timing

Ideally I'd like a replacement for Gordon (who I reckon might leave in the summer) in now so that he can get settled in so that in the summer he's used to how we play and ready for (hopefully) European games. My thinking is if we're shopping in the Scandinavian market, their close season might make a permanent move easier...

Our transfer Windows are usually more miss than hit but our summer 2025 transfer window must be by far and away our best one ever. Considering that also included our new manager coming in who has been nothing short of exceptional and Wimmer's one and only signing also being superb it's hard to think how it can be beaten.

To think we also managed to make our biggest ever sale and replace with a few players now worth over a £million in the squad it genuinely beggars belief how good that window has turned out to be.

It should turn out to be genuinely transformational for our club and stand us in good stead for years to come. The board also deserve massive credit for this.

Must be in contention for not just our but possibly even the league's best transfer window by a club?

He is a Celtic player at the end of the day and they can do what they want with him but it must leave a bad taste is his mouth. He’s been doing really well with us, enjoying his football and has actively tried to move on and get games instead of being content sitting on the bench and picking up a wage. He’s now recalled to sit in his house and watch the game on his telly. Just seems petty from Celtic.

in some ways it might end up good for us as he may have a bit extra between his teeth to do well if he comes back to us.

Agree that he’s Celtics player to dictate situation however either this means SW is back with us mon or Tuesday at latest or confirms suspicion that MON’s loveable grandpa act is just that and he’s screwing both us and Welsh over.

Was just about to post that. I just don’t understand what Celtic get out of screwing him around like this.

Playing him against a junior side and then taking him off (when he was their best defender) after 60mins did strike me as being quite petty.

you never know though and we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. Maybe he’s not been giving a toss in training and made his feelings known he wasn’t happy at being recalled. Who knows?

Given recent history, I expect it's the Board rather than MON that's playing silly buggers.

I would’ve agreed but MO’N came out and said “I’m stepping in here” with the January window and presumably he does pick the matchday squad.

Either way I think we should move on if not sorted early next week.

Well I think we can kiss goodbye to Stephen Welsh. Tierney off injured again and Trusty sent off.

maybe it’s for the best we look at a permanent signing anyway

For me plan A was get an another CB AND get Welsh back. So Continue with plan A amd see what we can get.

We've already got 3 CBs in Mcginn, Mcghee and Gordon as well as SOD who he keeps playing there I think we need to bring in 1 more CB and a LB before the end of the window provided we keep Maswanhise, Just etc and aren't scrambling to replace them as well. (I know we've said we're not selling our best players but if we get offered big money for any of them there will be conversations being had.) Hopefully Nicholson and Halliday are back fit and can provide some depth especially Nicholson as we have no real depth in the RW/10 area and Jens seems to be impressed by him from what he's saying in press confrences.
