Completely agree with you .

It’s bonkers that we knew the squad was too large and didn’t have enough quality yet could end up with +20 of the same squad

We'll only have ourselves to blame if we go into next season with the majority of the same squad and wonder why we're still crappy.

That's true, but the new manager's brief should also include "mutualling" any contracts for players he doesn't want.

Huddersfield apparently. Been a good servant, not without his faults, but one of our better centre half’s in recent times

Nowhere near the quality of Aldred , Hartley or big hutch. The fact that so many are sorry to see him go says more about the quality of our defenders in the last two or three years than anything else. He won't last long in England.

Seddon is a much better footballer than any of our other defenders , it's just a pity he's made of chocolate.

How's he made of chocolate?

Sneddon was decent in his limited appearances but I wouldn't be fussed either way if he stays or goes,I hope we don't see any of the rest return as it would be a backwards move and will limit any progress that were able to make.

Seddon played 200+ games in his career, including 30 odd in the season before joining us, so I'm not sure we can call him injury prone. Definitely not in the mould of Sam Nicholson, who is a genuine perma crock. Seddon had 2 injuries with us, and missed games at the start of the season when wilson kept his place. The big injury he had last season was the ankle one that put him out for months,  that i think happened in a game. It would come down to how hard those are to recover from long term.

I like him, and he's a better footballer than the other options there, he also gives us a good fdw options on the left of defence, whether LB, LWB, or LCB, so I'd like to keep him, especially since decent left bqcks dont grow on trees, but he hasn't played enough for me to be turning up at FP with a pitch fork if he wasn't extended.

Check his injury record since he joined.

Why only since he joined MFC and not throughout his career for a fuller idea?

I liked Casey. Good defender at our level and wore his heart on his sleeve which always endears a player to fans. But he isnt worth breaking the bank for so if he thinks he can get a better deal elsewhere good luck to him.

Seddon Id keep for all the reasons above.

Thompson - punt

Davor - punt

Paton - punt

Moses - if he has been offered peanuts and is happy to be our 80th minute chaos maker Id keep. Just because players like that arent easy to come by.

Id also be looking to move on Nicholson, Robinson and Stuparevic as soon as they are fit, so wouldnt be including them in our squad numbers as I dont expect them to contribute.

We might be able to loan them out if they're fit in time for the windows and don't figure into our plans. But it's very unlikely that we're going to mutual them. Even if we wanted to, I don't know why any of them would give up any of their contract when they face uncertainty after a lengthy injury.

At worst they'll not get back to full fitness before their contract ends, and leqve next summer, and at best a couple of them will be fit by January and save us from loaning in some children as deadline panic buys.  So I doubt the new manager will be hanging any hopes on them either way.
