mio Posted yesterday at 10:52 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:52 AM He’s all about load management. I hear him as when I sit watching TV at night over the weekend and I’m half way through a family bag of Doritos and large bag of minstrels, I too consider my load management. Sometimes I transition to the floor to enable me to use a quality counter press to complete the job in the final third.

Mintymac
Was a strange atmosphere at game last Tuesday and think manager has  picked up on it very quickly . Players  following instruction then a mistake at the back and they score . Vast majority of of fan base stayed calm but very small percentage started booing . Actually turned round at that point and there were a few angry chappies in full throttle booing 8 mins into the first home game . . Each to their own I suppose but the way the manager explained staying calm was important at that point re. the players not rushing things it was very telling . I for one will be buying into his methods as the last few years have been an awful watch . Not sure everyone in our support is though or even willing to give it a chance . The reason he was brought in was because even the Chairman wanted a different style of football to punts up the park and winning second balls  stuff as per Robbo Alexander Kettlewells. Chairman has been brave in this appointment . He could easily have taken the safe appointment but chose to try something different . Im sure the vast majority of us will buy into it . The boo brigade ?Mmmm not so sure

If they shouted like that in the house when the missus told them to do the dishes or hang out the washing there would be hell to pay. MFCL84
This will be my first away game in a few years. I'm going because, I saw enough on Tuesday night to suggest that the football that we will be watching this season will be worth the entrance fee. I like the manager's interviews and I am buying into his philosophy. So, I am going along tomorrow to see a little bit of improvement and some attractive football. I will accept the risks of this new style of play and have high hopes for the season ahead. That said, it won't be plain sailing tomorrow. I expect that we'll lose a goal, but will eventually win out. 3-1 to The Well.

wellsince75
Patience is required.  It will be interesting to see us holding our nerve when we ship goals getting caught in 18 yard box. Those goals are obvious but not in my mind any worse than booting up the park only for the opposition run straight through us and score. There's a few similarities to York who last year moved to this style of play.  At the start of their season it was very similar to what we're seeing but by the end of the season the ended up scoring 2x and conceded less.  They lost the play offs due to a howler  in their box inbounds the final game and many fans still felt the style was wrong. I'll be delighted if we can follow in their footsteps , increasing goals scored and moving us far further up the league. There will be massive moments of embarrassment but overall should see much better football being played.
wellfan
Stenny have just this morning announced a raft of short-term signings to make up the numbers for their remaining League Cup games. If we can't pump this mob comfortably, I’ll be both surprised and pissed off. https://www.stenhousemuirfc.com/2025/07/19/warriors-there-is-no-better-game-day-feeling-than-adding-players-to-our-ranks/

I’m willing to give this an acceptable amount of time and as long as we remain safe from relegation then I’ll accept the style of play, but if we are sitting bottom or 2nd bottom of the league 3/4 of the way through the season, shipping ridiculous goals due to our limited defenders , due to a “project” by our manager, with what awaits the future of the club/staff/support, in the lower leagues then I doubt I’ll be as patient. I’m not entirely convinced this defensive set up / style, is necessary and there is an element of vanity project about it but I do like the attacking winger element of what I think he’s doing? anyway, it’s something different so we’ll see how it goes. Kmcalpin
Personally I couldn't care less if we lose goals through the sweeper keeper project with one condition...it creates more goals than we lose through it. If there's a net gain then fine, if not then ditch it.

There won’t be a comparison? Unless he plays half the season one way and the other half the other way. we just need to see how it goes. We've had Alexander, Robinson, Hammell and Kettlewell and everyone of them got dogs abuse for the style of football they had us playing. Now we get a new manager in with new ideas, new style etc and we still have people moaning about it after 4 games and a lot of new players ffs. People need to get a grip and judge the team and how we are playing not now but later in the season, give the manager and his players time to implement his new style etc. Or they can always go to Killie or St Mirren if they are missing the kick and chase tactics. I wasn’t being negative at all.
