Andy H
First proper test of our new way of playing. I have to say, despite it being likely to send me to the cardiac unit, I love it. Hoofball is a thing of the past and we are seeing players that have quite rightly come under criticism play silky football. Who knew! Where do we think we will finish this season? Personally, I think we are going to be 4th or 5th. I can't see us being anywhere near the playoffs / relegation and I think when it clicks properly (and the strikers start finding the net) we are going to give someone an utter scudding
joewarkfanclub
Despite how good we were to watch today, I dont want to get too carried away as I think we might struggle to replicate that application and energy over a full season. The city clubs have all spent money and strengthened, so it will be a tough ask to finish above any of them unless one of them has a mare. That said, 6th is still there for the taking and should be our target. If we do better than that, fairplay to the manager and the team!

Question is, can we do that every week?

That’s the mark of a good team, being able to perform at a high level week after week so it’s a lot to expect but I hope we can at least perform at that level more weeks than not. weeyin
I'm going to go against Kris Boyd's bold prediction and say we will not finish in the relegation play-off spot.
MFCL84
It is too early to say really. I think that we'll find it tough against the lesser teams that will sit in at Fir Park. That said, I don't expect this team to lose many to such sides. At a guess, I reckon we will make the top 6. We could take 2/3rds of the points available from the weaker 5 sides which is 30 points, plus a share of the spoils against the 4 others (we'll play one of them 3 times and the rest 4), which is 16 points pre-split and 4 points post-split. Finally, we'll beat both the old firm once and draw once giving another 8 points over the season. So, a total of 58 points. That is a hell of a good haul. It would have had us finish 3rd in each of the last 5 seasons, except 23/24 when it would have been enough for 4th. Based on all of that, my claret and Amber tinted glasses think that 4th is not out of the question. Of course, I reserve the right to modify this after we go on a miserable 10 game run without a win or the euphoria of the game today has subsided. Mad Dog
6th or 7th. Depends on how we cope with injuries and suspensions and also whether our forwards can score about ten goals each.
Spiderpig
We gave ourselves a chance of a top 6 finish last season while playing absolutely shitfest football. So if we can maintain the standard we've set so far, bring in a decent centre forward and a defensive midfielder, a top 6 finish is a very achievable target, for me i reckon it will be 5th or 6th
wellfan
Sixth would be a good outcome, but it will take a few more signings. The real challenge is sustaining the high-intensity style over a full season, which is never easy without real squad depth.

The way we went off the boil after November and the form we were in at the time wasn't that of a top 6 side I also think how we were playing well were never gonna finish top 6 and when we were 5th it was a false position. I will say yesterday was a bloody good time. and I think we'll be in with a better shot at top 6 this year if our last 3 performances are anything to go off. wellsince75
Honestly no idea where we’ll end up but as long as we keep playing football like many have said there’s reasons to be optimistic . We have a fabulous pitch , a very decent squad and a good manager . Looking forward to something different

Yes, more reinforcements would be required but we have to be able to perform at this level in midweek winter games in the likes of Falkirk or Paisley. Spit_It_Out
I shall go 8th but a very entertaining 8th along the way! Top 6 and we might not be keeping our manager for that long cause it would have been a season and a half!
grizzlyg
Long long way to go but very encouraging after Saturday. I reckon one place up for grabs in top 6 so that should be our aim but we need more players in. Balmer must be right out of favour if SOD comes on at centre half ahead of him. We need 2 central defenders and another striker. Saturday a totally different test so be interesting how we adapt.

twistandshout1983
Not definitely saying we are top 6 , but definitely think there is a very good chance of this More performances like we had on Saturday will have us higher up the league. It's all ifs buts and maybes so early on
mio
I’ve resigned myself to the prospect of an up and down season. I agree we could be capable of turning over some teams if we click but we are also more than capable of losing calamity style when it doesn’t click. it’ll be interesting regardless but having watched all the SPFL games this weekend there’s nothing there to fear really. Quite a lot of bang average sides.

Quite a lot of bang average sides. Exactly this. Although it's early days for teams, and I don't usually start judging them until a few weeks after the window closes. However, most seasons there are only small margins between 7 or 8 of us, so I'm hoping our new approach will give us the edge to climb a few places. Absolutely no doubt we will have a few disasters along the way, but we could well hand out one or two gubbings too. It certainly won't be boring.
joewarkfanclub
Watched the Hearts v Aberdeen game tonight. Despite having both spent a bit of money, I didnt see anything to fear. Hearts will do better as they have Shankland being played in his correct position. Aberdeen look as if they will struggle for goals. If we can get the 2/3 quality bodies in that JBA wants my expectations for the season ahead might get raised a little.....
Yabba's Turd
Top 6 if we find a striker. 7th if we don't

I only saw the 2nd half and Shankland hardly touched the ball, he was anonymous, for me hes vastly overrated. I agree though both teams looked average at best, nothing to fear from either of them.
