Why 1/6?

Some years ago, Stewart Robertson told me that in cup ties and the like 1/3 of the gate receipts  goes to the home team, one third to the away team and one third in costs. In effect then, the home team takes 2/3 of the gate money. (Dundee is an exception LOL). In the semis, the SPL/stadium owners will pocket 1/3 of the gate money for costs. The other 2/3 will be split 4 ways. Thats the theory. However, I'd imagine the SPFL will take a cut over and above costs. Also, I don't know if the 20% VAT is included in the 1/3 allocated to costs.

Ah gotcha.

So if my rough maths is anywhere near correct we would take 1/6 of £1.8m so £300k.

Add on the £50k uplift in prize money and the £30k tv rights and we have a nice tidy wee sum.

I’m not keen on the 5.30 ko as at last years semi the amount of absolute steamers turning up was ridiculous. Having another couple of hours for them to get tanked up is a nightmare.
I like a pint but I never get folk going to big games half or full Jaked. I love taking in these games and remembering them. Wanting to fight with folk round about you and screaming nonsense pi5hed and then falling asleep is for the brain dead.

I know I don’t think I’ll ever sit in the directors box again 🤣

You’re always going to get some absolute rockets turning out for games like this, they’re part of but not limited to, the fair weather glory hunting element of our support that don’t go near Fir Park for run of the mill games. I get the ‘special day’ aspect that a trip to Hampden for a Semi or more so a final brings and there’s nothing wrong with having a few beers before and (hopefully) afterwards, I certainly will be enjoying a few, but there’s always some who seem to see that side of the day more important than the football itself.

My 2017 league cup final was ruined as we foolishly got tickets near the singing section and was full of folk not even interested in game and just wanting to fight the stewards.

Anyway the majority of folk going are there to support team and generate great atmosphere so we should focus on that element

Avoid buying tickets for the Celtic end, that's where the "singers " will be, plus the view of the pitch is shite.

The north stand near the back or South stand lower section I 6 seem to be the best views available.

I get that they need to offer different sections with differing price points for these games, but I very much doubt that we will sell anywhere near 10k tickets at those prices.

Our support is gonna be spread out and St Mirren will be the same, which will have a negative effect on the atmosphere in the stadium.

For me the should have just ignored dthe South Stand and try and get as many fans together in the north and east as possible.

I suspect the Police would have a say in this and their interests may not coincide with those of the SPFL or participating clubs.

Sounds like any other game where the Well Bois are concerned.

I take you have not been to any away games this season then? If you had you would have seen how well they have supported every player and been a credit to the club. No more so than last Saturday where they drove the team on from start to finish. Well done Bois. Perhaps to back up your claim you could give some recent examples of what you are talking about.

I have been critical of the them at times, or at least some of those that attach themselves to the core group, and will continue to call out stuff I disagree with. But his season I have seen nothing to complain about. The opposite in fact. Even at Paisley which is usually a concern.
