Swings and roundabouts.

Alot of it depends on the state of the squads and how Röhl performs.

Johnston got injured again last night and CCV done his achillies as well. Ihenacho also got injured.

An injury to others Eg Scales, or McGregor and they are in a mess.

Not forgetting injuries to Walsh,  Clancy,  beaton and Robertson.

We were up against a rangers team in 2005 that had bob Malcolm and Ross in side. We had O'Donnell and Scot Mcdonald but still lost 5.1. There's usually old firm bias. Budget divide is massive.

Aye but had we not had Gordon Marshall who absolutely sold the Jerseys that day the result could have been different or at least alot closer. We brought it back to 2-1 within 13 mins and had them back peddling then that big Diddy sold the Jerseys.

That whole occasion brings back bad memories. Its up there with one of my least favourite matches I’ve ever attended. From being hijacked a bit with the Davie Cooper final tag (I loved cooper but I didn’t particularly like the constant love in build up with Rangers… we dont get to finals enough for that to have happened) this ended up with Rangers fans thinking it was fine to snap tickets up on mass….. pardon the pun… for our end. We had dozens of them pi55ed up wandering in draped in union jacks, singing the sash and FTP and wanting to fight with our fans who told them to Fk up and get out. By the time they got ejected we were 3-1 down.

it was a rotten day.

While that might be true we would never have got to the final without a brilliant performance by Marshall in the semi final.

Was looking at previous starts to the season up to this point.

25/26 Askou - 8pts

24/25 Kettlewell - 13pts

23/24 Kettlewell - 10pts

22/23 Hammell - 10pts

21/22 Alexander - 14pts

20/21 Robinson - 8pts

19/20 Robinson - 16pts

18/19 Robinson - 5pts

17/18 Robinson - 13pts

16/17 McGhee - 8pts

15/16 Barraclough - 7pt

So Askou's start is in the bottom 5 and there has only been 2 worse starts in the last 10 years.

Looking closer at the seasons with 8 points or less (but obviously not including this one) there are 4.

We finished Bottom 6 in 3 out of 4.

The manager was also fired or resigned in 3 out of 4.

The exception was season 15/16 when Barraclough was fired after 8 matches, McGhee came in and we shot up the league.

Now I definitely don't want another manager replaced and I think the season can still go either way but just looking at the facts over the last ten seasons it doesn't look great for Askou.

Really need to win at Livingston tomorrow.

We’re lucky to have eyes though and a modicum of footballing knowledge to realise we are watching 100% better football than any of the statistical seasons above. We could easily go on a run of wins and I still don’t see us finishing in the bottom six.
we have the keys to a suped up twin exhaust Honda civic here 🤣 time we all realised it

I see that Livingston are releasing blocks of seats in the same way that the Hampden authorities are doing. Best views are released later. Its one of my bugbears that clubs like Livingston constrain seating to tight sections.  I'm not saying that most of the stadium should be opened up for our benefit but its annoying when most of the available sections are full; latecomers can't find seats and they steadfastly refuse to open up another section.

Thank you for taking the time to pull the data and insight together @Ya Bezzer!.   I hadn't realised how poor the points tally was v's previous seasons.  Shows the impact of draws.

Like Mio posted it's the best football we've seen and got a level of faith that we'll pick up wins.

It does highlight the need to be a bit more savvy and not go all out attack for the full match, when I listen to the gaffer I've got complete faith that's what he wants as well.

Ideally I'd like to see us take the lead and simply keep the ball of the opposition and pick them off a bit more.   Today I think is the perfect day for just that.

Seriously?

How any Motherwell fan can so easily dismiss getting to a cup final is beyond me.

Im 56 years old and Ive seen us play in 5.

Ok, we have only won one of them, and having either Celtic or Rangers in the final always makes things harder. But these are not strong Rangers and Celtic teams, and this Motherwell team has already shown it can go toe to toe with both of them this season.

The League Cup semi final is a huge game for us.

Given that we cant win the league, surely we can still dream of winning a cup?

I love the fact we are at Hampden regardless if we win or lose , and absolutely hope we win

I remember having this gut feeling coming back from the Scottish cup final in 2018 after losing both finals that for some reason we could be waiting for years for another final

Of course we have a very very important game today and hopefully looking for at the very least 4 points from those next 2 games then see what happens

Nice to see Slattery on the bench. I imagine RCC will feature at some point. Hopefully see more of Just in this game. Thought he was pretty quiet last week, which is understandable since he was out for a while but now has that game time under his belt ao hopefully a wee bit sharper.

Head says 1-1

If we could just get that win it could potentially make all the difference to our season. Just do it Motherwell 🙏

Can you not just go back to predicting defeats all the time ? Your optimism is frightening every one else !
