I know ive went on about it, but Longelo offers nothing. He cant cross or pass a ball. His defending and tracking back is awful. Compare him to Johnny who always busts a gut to get back.

Longelo and our failure to take decent chances cost us today.

Good first 20mins. Had to take the chances.

Said and Longelo not good enough defensively. Sloppy start to 2nd half really cost us. Hendry is not good enough full stop.

Sterling handball, Fernandez on Sparrow and Fadinger at the end would all have been penalties in our box.

I think we are 2 or 3 good signings away from a strong fibish to the season. LB, ST and another midfield option.

That’s another sore one in a season of sore ones. Our glaring weaknesses were exposed yet again. We can’t score goals when it really matters and we can’t shut teams down when they are on top of us.

Everyone knows we are hopeless up front, Hendry and AP are brutal, stating the blatantly obvious ie if you dont score you wont win any games.

I assume JBA knows this as well so i hope we have targets identified to come in during the January window.

That said, we are 2 points off 3rd and have just had our only defeat in the last 11 games i think,  so we are in a good position. A good transfer window to give us more firepower up front and we can kick on and secure a top 6 finish.

All very true but I wouldn't lose sleep over this result. It was always extremely  likely and Rangers will finish the season well clear of us. The bottom line is that we just weren't good enough. Our lack of clinical finishers is costing us dearly but everyone knows that. I'm stil very hopeful that we'll be in the mix for a top 6 finish. Tuesday evening again is a free hit. Next Saturday is more important.

I think we will be too (in the mix for a top six finish).

But this season and this team has all the look of “so near, yet so far” about them.

We won’t get any ‘big’ results like winning today or against Celtic on Tuesday. We saw it the last time we played them at Parkhead in October, 2-1 up yet lost 2-3 in stoppage time. The same with being 3-0 up at Tynecastle in August and clinging on to a 3-3 at the end.

We’re a good side, but frustratingly not quite good enough.

Frustrating to say the least. Another game that if we had a goalscorer we may have hit 4.

to be fair to rangers they looked better than I expected and also looked like scoring. Both keepers kept them in the game.

Ward I thought was excellent. We just need to beat Celtic and then St Mirren….. that’s all.

We just have to be patient.  The good work that JBA has done so far is astounding. He can’t fix everything at once and I’m surprised by how much he has fixed already. Players are going to have off days, bad spells, good spells and today we had several players with off days yet managed to have slightly more posession than Rangers did and could have been a goal or two up after 20 mins if had a goal scorer.
disappointing result but still not a team in the league that we should fear.

Our good run was always going to come to an end . We played well for 20 mins and didn’t take our chances .

As much as I hate to say it rangers were the better team and deserved to win .

i don’t like picking out individual players , I don’t think it was down to any single player today that we lost . Felt it more that we lacked belief that we could win.

Disappointed not to get at least a point today,  which shows how far we have come in 2025

One thing we do need as others have mentioned is a goal machine for the big occasion.  A Higdon , John Sutton, Moult (2015-2017) , a Tommy Coyne or a Dougie

Anyway onwards to the Celtic and St Mirren games

Thought O’Donnell played well when he came on. I see Slattery taking some stick but I thought he was decent when he came on, not so much Osong though.
For a while I had been giving our forwards the benefit of the doubt, saying that we didn’t give them decent service. Now though, I think we have been creating more chances but not taking them. While i think top priority is a striker for us we might also work on some shooting practice for the team. 😳

Just saw the JBA interview and he’s raging about the penalty? I have to say I thought it looked soft? Hopefully sportscene will show it better later.

Fadinger isn’t the type to go down easily so I think there must have been something in it. We all know that if it was in the other box it would likely be a penalty and the justification would be that there was contact, no matter how little.
