We were a bit off it today but fort the life of me I cant believe folk saying Dundee deserved to win. They had two efforts on goal and scored with both. One being an absolute gift. By any measure of all statistics today we didnt deserve to lose even as below par as we were.

They scored twice, had the ball in the net but fortunately for us it was offside. They also rattled the underside of the bar. So obviously they deserved the win.

I read it as they deserved. to win because they came into the game with a plan and left with three points. So well played Dundee. It was up to us to break them down and we just couldn’t do it today. Another day we might have.

Even if they get relegated?

Yes. Because you can go through your whole life and see your team winning nothing of note. St Mirren supporters will remember winning the cup for the whole of their life. Just like those who saw us winning in 1991.

So by that theory every game you don't win you deserve to lose? don't agree. Dundee didn't deserve to win today.

We were miles off it today unfortunately

Bringing on the big man at half time was the right shout, but uv got to give him something to attack in the box

just a bad day at the office in a great season

Might be in the minority but I wouldn’t swap St Mirrens cup for the entertainment we’ve produced this season

I think we have all got carried away thinking we could actually win the league.  Our aim is to make sure we finish 4th.   2nd defeat in 20 games .

Rewind 13 months and we were at end of Kettlewell reign.   Shows you how far we have progressed since then.

True . Wise words

We came a long way . But others have won cups and thus made legends . If we even keep a 3rd of squad together we should make top 6 next year and chance of cup semi final

Dunfermline 3-0 up v dons,   at least OX still got chance of Scottish cup success

I’m just glad we weren’t playing Dunfermline today.
Thats a shocker for Aberdeen though, to have the 3rd biggest wages bill in Scotland and getting thumped by a championship team is not acceptable.

Ive never been in the camp that we could win the league , you just needed to look at our remaining fixtures before today and we' realistically needed to  win 9 of our remaining 10 games. That meant winning at Celtic Park, Tynecastle , Ibrox , Easter Road and Celtic and Hearts at Fir Park , In no world was that EVER going to happen.

100% and thats also true of finishing in the top 3. Its just unrealistic and not going to happen.

Well strictly speaking, yes! The team scoring the most goals deserves to win but I get what you are saying.

I saw it, and I remember it. I also remember being relegated twice, and the years of damage that did to the club. To each their own.

Yeah but the damage has been undone , Silverware is permanent form and status are fluid.

Crowds haven't gone up this season because we won the cup in 1991. The hope is, if we carry on down this path, success will follow. If someone said we'd have a better chance of winning a cup were Robinson to return, with his footballing philosophy in tow, I'd say, no thanks. I realise some would roll out the welcome mat.

success in terms of silverware will always be a longshot because as soon as clubs like us get success the manager and players ae taken from us. That is why its so infuriating when we fuck up when a tournament opens up for us. Rangers and Celtic will never both be as bad in the same season for many years to come. So therefore Id bite your hand off for just one more success before I die and if that trade off if eye bleeding shite for a season I'd take it.

That is not to say I don't support and enjoy what were are doing . The question of "what would you take .a great season or relegation and a cup win.." was always a hypothetical , its never an offer that will ever be presented to us.

Yeah, as you say, the idea of a trade-off is purely hypothetical. I get why folk are pissed off about the cup exits, but I'm not gonnae let them waste what has - for me - been an amazing season. Today was another absolute pisser, but nothing's over until it's over, so bring on next week.

We will now learn a bit more about the character of this squad with regard to how they react to this setback. They have been nothing short of magnificent this season and I have faith that they can collectively bounce back and produce the form they have shown for the past few months. Keep the faith and continue to learn and improve, one game at a time.

We were very poor and fair play to dundee, they worked so hard and squeezed the game, quite a few players coudnt cope with the lack of space and time on the ball.pressley set his side out with the plan to nullify us and his players carried it out to perfection, theyre the best bottom six team ive seen.

We lost our 4th of the league in March - can’t ever recall saying that before .

we are building momentum who knows how long it will continue .

I’m not overly concerned about the need to bounce back - we lost a game where the opponents took their chances .

im assuming we’ll continue to focus on what we do well and we can enjoy the rest of the season .

oddly now the pressure is off - no more talk of winning the league - be great to cement 4th spot

I cant believe some of the stuff I am reading seems to me folk cant see progress just want to piss and moan about anything christ we could win the league and Scottish Cup folk would still wet the bed we didn't win the treble.

We might not have won anything but give me this season over any season we have had recently that's for sure.
