This'll be the first summer when I'm really not bothered about transfers. We may lose some important players, but they'll be replaced like-for-like. I do trust him but think at about 22 years old he would benefit from one more year as being backup. Defensively SOD & McGinn have been solid this year but age is against them so realistically replacements need to be sourced, although I think we have a couple of good options in the academy who might step up next season IF we make the group stage in Europe but aren’t ready for first team football week in week out. With Slattery leaving and probably one other midfielder being sold, I don’t think we can afford to lose another as it would decimate the the team with too many new midfielders coming in and trying to learn our system and new teammates while we try to get to the Conf. League group stage - there might be some sort of agreement that if we don’t qualify then another will be sold but who knows. Again we have a couple of options from the academy lads who played bit part roles this season and didn’t look out of place who should step up and get more game time next season to see if they will make it. Up front is where we need to be looking at urgently as with the amount of possession we’ve had this season the goal return is - in my opinion - lower than we should expect. This is not a criticism of the team but just my view as on the whole they’ve been terrific in their play and although I’m a fan of Maswanise he’s a bit hot and cold with a selfish attitude and not really a team player at times so I’d cash in while his stock is high and hope for an upgrade. Again I’d say that there are academy lads who can hopefully step up and play a part but it would be unfair to throw them in as mainstays. In all positions there’s also the possibility of loan deals but I think the club would prefer to sign our own players first and use loans if our signing targets fall through. Having said all that I’m sure the club have great plans for next season and I’m happy to wait and see. I expect a mimimum of 8 (Before replacing outgoings) - 2 x CB (1 if Gordon is offered a contract) - LB - CM (Maybe not needed if Whyte is offered a contract0 - AMF - LW - ST - RW - Then replacements for any players sold out of Just, Maswanhise, Watt, Fadinger, Ward, Longelo, Hendry, Stamatepolous (1 Striker to replace last 2 is fine) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But enough about my comedy material.........🤪 Can honestly see us losing 4 or 5 that are currently under contract but the positive would be they go more good money as no way will club let them.go on the cheap. It puts us on sound financial footing and chance to invest on more gems in transfer window. However.....if JBA stays and wants to take us to next level then I can see players staying but I would look to cash Maswanhise in and hold fire on just till after World cup.
