Just not a market we have explored during the Craigan/Hartley years. I got the impression that Welsh enjoyed playing for Askou. Although he was clearly fully committed to Motherwell I'm not so sure he would want to return now that Askou is away. Would not surprise me if Welsh ended up in Toulouse

Would be a great move for him, and Toulouse could not doubt afford his wages.
Orinoco
Seems we have lost a member of the recruitment team to St Mirren. Gavin Miller. Not sure what he did for us but he is know head of recruitment.
purestate
Interesting one this. From StM announcement by Keith L ”Gavin joins the club with a proven track record of identifying high potential players that have generated significant revenue and has an extensive network across Europe and the UK.” Given the increased focus on data analytics and use of various databases/algorithms I wonder how much each club would already have same targets and how much Motherwell specific details on targets Gavin Miller takes with him. in other commercial environments there would be non-disclosure, non-compete and/or gardening leave situations when someone moves to competition. I know nothing about the realities of football situation. Interested if others do - in general if not this specific case.
weeyin
I'd guess he works for a data analytics company (or partners with one), and that data belongs to them rather than Motherwell. Given their track record, however, all he really needs is a database containing the entry "Copy what Motherwell do"

Like other industries, i suppose it depends on the level the person is operating at. If they are graduates or junior to mid staff they move on seamlessly. If they are senior management/director type level you get into those clauses. Thats my view anyway from non football industry. No idea what and how it happens in football

Hibs maybe but doubt Celtic would sell to Hearts. And he enjoys his football too much to fit into the Robinson non football approach. Aberdeen fans are in for a treat.

Based on those postcards, I'm surprised that the Rancid hasn't gone with a MCGINN IN SHOCK MOVE TO VILLA headline.

I'd rather keep Watt and Just but think we may keep Just for one more year and sell Watt surely with that kind of cash we could attract some decent talent. Well decent for the SPFL. Should we bite the bullet and sign Welsh? He's reportedly on £6500 a week and one more year on his contract. Give him a signing on fee to cover that years wages (£340,000) and agree a wage we can live with. Anyone think we should. I see Celtic have agreed to an early termination of Steven Welsh contract. Why do I get the horrible feeling he ain't coming to us.

grizzlyg
Would love to see us sign him but cant see it happening unless we can offer parts of deal like big signing on fee and maybe a percentage of transfer fee when sold. Kelly must hsve been on big wage at QPR before he signed for us.
