Hope I'm wrong and he'll be unleashed as our new secret weapon but it was just a feeling I had. He should certainly enjoy our increase in crosses into the box. I would think he has every right to look pissed off if he was injured and then not up to speed for the teams first European game. Surely he would be in the squad if fit. Lots of supossing going on here I think.

Apparently If true would imagine its just a loan Aye looks like he signed a new 3yr deal with Bristol in April. Has 60 senior appearances under his belt though for Crewe and Swindon. Certainly fits our demographic apart from the loan bit.
grizzlyg
Are we only signing players with double-barreled surnames? Magic.......cant wait to get Ben Gannon-doak on loan 🤣🤣
wellfan
Eythor, if he is injured and all the forum speculation to the contrary is just that, deserves time once the season properly gets underway. He looks like the type of player who could do well in AJ’s system.
Motherwell Daft
Good to see Jamie coming in, looks a good addition but tbh I’m disappointed that we appear to be going down the loan route, destroys our operating model a bit. Thats our goalkeeper n new CH on loan, I’d have thought we would have been looking for those unearthed gems. Hoping to see a new attacking midfielder n a striker or two being rolled out very soon, perhaps Mas staying with us?

joewarkfanclub
Just now, grizzlyg said: I think the injuries will be a reason we have got a few loanees in. Good point. With a fit McGinn, SOD, Koutroumbis & McGhee, we probably dont really need another CB. But right now with all 4 injured, we definitely do. Hopefully we can get another midfielder and a striker in soon.....

We can afford to borrow one or two good Scottish players.

wellfan
I’ve said here before that loans should be the exception rather than the rule. The injuries might be forcing us down that road at the moment, but I do worry we’re starting to head down the Kettlewell route. Injuries aside, we’ve got the finances and the model to sign permanent players for the key roles we need. Loans should supplement that, not become the solution. I wonder if they've decided to squirrel as much money away as possible to put it towards these infrastructure jobs that we've been discussing

To be honest I don't think we will be going down that line again. We are just in situation just now due to various factors. 1. 6 players plus Welsh all left 2. 8 players out injured 3. Season started earlier due to European ties. We needed a keeper in quick so that explains Paulsen deal. Lowry one i can see being loan but with view to permanent move if he takes advantage of this opportunity for him. Hopefully a couple more permanent signings and injured players back will mean 3 max on loan

Loans do have their place, providing they're not overdone. We've now acquired 2 loan signings, maybe to cover short term injuries but I don't get the Paulsen one. We knew a wee bit in advance that Ward was likely to move on and so would likely have time to prepare. One more to cover a striker perhaps given the number of injuries/permacrocks in that department. Less so in defence and certainly not in midfield.
