I thought he would really push for starting slot but midfield looking strong.   Naysmith knows him so hopefully a full season really benefits him and us in long run

Club website states his contract expires May 2026. Hope he's signed an extension otherwise he's gone.

Yup that's wrong.  If it was correct he wouldn't be at the club.  He signed a new deal

He has not signed an extension...from what I can gather I dont think hes overly pleased at being loaned out

If his contract expired May 26, and hes still at the club for us to loan out he must have signed an extension.

Surely the player needs to agree to the loan, so he must have said yes, if hes really not happy about it then he needs to move on as he is not going to get regular game time at Fir park.

The official website said Whyte extended his contract in their end of season squad update. Doesn't say for how long.

Olly must have a contract until at least May 2027 otherwise he would be someone elses player. Given he is going out on loan, I would hope it was a 2 year extension so we are protected.

I can understand why he would be disappointed. With the game time.he got in the early games he would be thinking there was a pathway to the first team. Especially when Oscar got injured. Unfortunately the signing of Dylan Levitt has blocked that path.

He is still a young man. Best thing he can do is knuckle down, give everything for Ayr and gain as much experience as he can until May.

That way he should be able to demand a start next season.

I know it has been heavily rumoured recently but I'm a bit disappointed with the news on Olly White. Thought he has done well in his appearances so far and offered a more physical option in midfield I'm not sure we have a lot of.

Hopefully the step up to Championship from League One will improve him and benefit us when he comes back to us.

Whyte's a great prospect, but I trust the coaching staff if they think he'll progress more quickly if he goes out on loan.

He definitely signed a new contract. The issue is had he stayed with us who would he replace in the team. How much gametime would he get?

I think we have selection headaches now, which is good, Whyte would have to be better than Lennon Miller to get into the midfield ahead of Hodge,Fadinger,Priestman

I assume then, that we'll continue to pay his wages until his contract expires, unless he finds another club in Oz. Only difference now is that he'll be in Australia and not available for selection?

Perhaps we agreed a once and for all pay off that totals less than what he would have earned under contract. Which in turn lets him head home free to sign on with anyone he can agree a deal with. Saves us money long term and gives him a chance to rebuild his career. I imagine he will be keen to get back playing rather than being paid to sit on his backside as his career stalls even more.

Australian window open ahead of season start but in any event he can sign with anyone, anywhere as a free agent. Increases his options.  Hence the timing?  Win win? And common sense.

I highly doubt we'd let Stama go on a free we paid a big fee for our standards for him. If the bid we allegedly turned down for him last summer was real it was a really bad decision to have rejected it. Worse comes to worse he stays as a 3rd choice ST. We need to get Mikey Booth out on a co-op loan so his development doesn't stall as well but he'd still be available to us if we get injury problems same with Wilson and Ross to be honest

Lets be honest he is brutal and is never going to get any game time going forward, nobody is going to make a bid for him, so it makes sense to cut your losses and agree a deal re his contract to release him and free up a wage, it should have been done at the end of last season.

He was better than Jordan White and Jacob Blyth and scored more league goals than Ryan Bowman or Curtis Main.

He certainly didn't make the transition the way we'd hoped, but not the worst we've had by any means.

I have no problems keeping through the summer to see what Alfred made of him.

Ill give you white and Blyth, they were brutal but not Bowman and Main, Stamas league goals mainly penalties.  Main and especially  Ryan elbows Bowman put themselves about, knew where the goals were and generally read the game well.

Stama was never where he should have been, his reading of the game was shocking always reacting and never anticipating so he was never able to make the most of any potential chances.

He arrived and was full of promise, scored a few pens but never kicked on, after his 1st child was born he was not interested always injured and generally looked like he never wanted to be in the shire.

He was never the standard we needed and never would be, sent back to Sydney on loan and even they did not want him. So releasing him was the only sensible option.
