We do need to be tighter at the back, and sharper in our passing. The addition of Lowry will, hopefully, give us a bit of guile that can open up opposition defences. You're right. In fact I just checked the UEFA website, and apparently you can register 2 in that window as long as you maintain the minimum quota of 8 "locally trained players".
