  3. I think the doom mongers from earlier in this thread need to come to terms with the fact that if Kettlewell sees something in a player, thats better than some fans not being excited by a player. Bair and Wilkinson won't score at this level. Well, they've both scored in 50% of league games they've played in. There's not many Motherwell managers can say theyve lost 2 in their first 20. Let the guy do his fucking job and stop greetin' about everything.

  4. BBC Scotland were looking forward to Hibs' mouth-watering forward players at 2.30 today. Must have a fair drouth on them by this time.

  6. Theres a difference between speculating and deciding its all doom and gloom. You used to he one of the more balanced posters on here but this season, for some reason, you have decided that Kettlewell has signed sub standard players and we look to be in trouble. Thats fine and its your perogative. I just find it strange as you are normally the one telling everyone to cool their jets and give the manager time. You could well be right in respect of this seasons signings, and I will put my hands up as being the happiest of clappers, but forgive me if I wait until September to decide if Bair, Wilkinson, Souare et al are any good or not. More than happy to offer opinion and debate their progress though, just so we have something to talk about. 😉

  8. Picking up 4 points, including the important first league win, while still having plenty of room for improvement isn't the worst situation to be in.

  9. Just home from the pub after an enjoyable result. Not the prettiest but hey the SK revolution continues. Loads of positives and Slattery excellent but Biereth could be the gem to light up our season. All in all a happy day and bring on the buddies

  10. Which is why criticism of Kettlewell at this stage (from some on here), given his stats, seems quite perverse. He has actually quite a threadbare squad in some areas yet hasn't lost an away game and has only lost to The Hens and (unaccountably) Dundee Utd. at Firpers. Interesting match coming up in Paisley.

  11. I don't think it's any coincidence that since SK took charge a lot of our opponents have looked poor. We've found a shape that restricts most teams we've encountered.

  12. Only one team in this league has beaten a Kettlewell Motherwell team, we should be going into most games with a positive mindset, we tend to come out of games with one.

  13. Not a classic today by any means, but feel I got my money's worth by the end of the 90. To start with the negative stuff, we were pedestrian for large parts of the game. As some have mentioned previously our 2 wing backs (Souare/O'Donnell) don't offer very much going forward. They lack pace and can't do much with the ball except boot it long. There also seemed to be an issue transitioning the ball from defence to attack more generally. The central midfield seems to be lacking a reliable CM/DM (a la Goss - although himself not exactly perfect) who can take the ball in and distribute. Slattery and Spittal seem to be better in attacking positions and young Miller, although he looks alright, probably doesn't have enough experience for such an important role. On a positive note, Hibs didn't really cause us too many problems. This is, in part, because they're shite, but our defence and midfield did generally look solid. On a side note - Lee Johnson has to be favourite for first sacking of the year! Spitall and Slattery had some nice touches and should do as a turn this year. Wilkinson and Bair didn't have much to work with until Beireth came on, although they didn't look great together. Beireth could well be a find - more than anything he just looked really up for it and fought for everything, adding that little bit of quality for the assist and the goal when it counted. I hope he'll be starting next week. All in all, we look worse than the tail end of last season but, if we can get the strikers set up and sort out our ball retention in midfield, we could have a decent season. I'm not concerned about relegation at this point, it's just a question of how far we can kick on up the table, which will probably depend on whether we can find a winning combination up top. COYW!

  14. For those not on social media, you may be interested to see what the 'official representation' of the Bois have been up to lately. In my opinion (and that of almost every response), they've had an absolute shocker here, made themselves out to be the 'bedroom dwellers' they sought to intimidate and belittle, and have completely embarrassed themselves and our fanbase in general. Not liking a YouTuber is fine, but panting a target on their back like this is a disgrace.

  15. I like that it talks about 'rampant self righteousness' without any kind of self awareness. Like most I'm not against supporter groups but when they stray away from actually supporting they inevitable embarrass themselves. And far too many of them have an inflated sense of their own worth. The old geezer in the beige anorak and bunnet and the guy that takes his young family to the game are absolutely 'worth' the same as supporters of the club as any cookie cutter ultra. Just remember we come to see the football not 6th form art painted on your maws under sheets so rein it in a bit.

  16. We played well in the second half after a dire first half. Everyone was solid and I've got to hand it to Souare who was solid throughout and used the ball well. He also managed to get Spittal off a dead ball so he's my new favourite player. When Bierith created the first goal it was like going from 65 minutes of slomo to fast forward. The second goal was superb as well with Miller winning a header then winning the loose ball, playing a 1-2, then executing the through ball. Beirith did brilliantly to fight for it and get the finish away. Very similar to KVV. We still have a lot to do in improving our attacking play but we were solid at the back and Mugabi was my MOTM but McGinn and Casey strolled it as well.

  18. Delighted with that. Big three points and two of three new strikers in the scoresheet. Always enjoyable beating the Hibees. Sing it loud, sing it proud… #Hibs! Hibs are falling apart AGAIN!#

  19. Nothing could have been done about that penalty but lets just be happy our occasional dose of bullshit came at a time where it was too late. Great 3 points and debut from Biereth 🥳

  20. Despite our lack of attacking threat at times and that struggle to link the midfield and attack, we are unbelievably solid defensively. It's great to see.

  21. Spittal came into the game more towards the end of the half and Slattery was involved in a few moves but apart from that midfield wasn’t involved much so hopefully we can improve. Wilkinson didn’t do much so I’d think he could be subbed.

  22. Surely that would be a foul, players should stick to fitba and shelf that kind of thing for 90 mins.

  24. Cant argue with any of that tbf. And I will give you Theo Bair. Even I was looking at a that one and thinking "2 year deal?" He may end up still being shite over the longer term, but his performance last week was enough to remind me that I should just wait until Ive seen the player myself before I think I know better than the manager. He clearly thinks he see's something in the guy and on the evidence of last week, he might not be wrong.

  25. Well, I think I've been quite fair in highlighting the reasoning behind my thinking. It's not like I'm just posting, "he's shite! Terrible signing!" and other such nonsense we see from other forum members. I've given my reasons, and you and others can feel free to disagree, of course. At this stage, it's all just conjecture, as I've said a few times. And at no point have I said the manager doesn't deserve time. But that doesn't mean I need to sit silent and wait until we're at the end of next month before making a comment. I've said that I'm judging the signings on their track records to this point, which is what fans of all clubs all over the world do. It's not something new or unreasonable. I don't particularly like the sound of how the manager wants to set us up, and I'm not overly keen on our signings to this point for the most part. The difference between me and certain other posters is that I will take absolutely zero pleasure in being right about that if it comes to pass. I want the team to succeed, and for Theo Bair to be a resounding success. Why wouldn't I?

  26. Sorry Steelboy but there was a lot more wrong with Hammell's reign than that and I mean a lot more. A catastrophic appointment and I don't use those words lightly.
