Aye, its time to lay off MJC and Steelboy. Everyone is different and there are extreme pessimists and extreme optimists in our support, and all shades of opinion in between. I often disagree with them both but at times they both write a lot of sense. Please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater folks. Lets get back on topic - by all accounts theres plenty of activity due later to occupy us.4 points

Given that Livi have got about 20 fans they are all probably in a group chat with Martindale.3 points

I get that and I know that in modern times it can be hard for fans to fork out their hard earned week in, week out to go and support the team. Life happens. But I’m not ‘having a go’ at fans who for whatever reason can’t go to the games. I’m more meaning those who could go but choose instead to spend their Saturday/or whatever at the pub or the bookies, or the bowling or the golf…all of which costs money too. I know a fair few Motherwell supporters who fall into those categories and I dare say others do too. Semi Finals? Cup Finals? European ties? They’re there. But run of the mill games against Kilmarnock on a Saturday and Ross County on a Tuesday night? Forget it. Like it or not we just don’t have a very good or loyal support with the exception of the small, faithful band of regulars.2 points

That's correct. You are right. I think what we can take away is they spent 1.4 million less than us in salaries. We lost a million, they broke even and just wait until we publish 2023 in line with them. 2 manager sackings and panic buys to stay in the league. That for me is why they are stronger just now and we are tightening up the purse strings. The board cant lose 7 figures two years in a row of "our money" in some ways. So get used to our new tighter squad whilst we work towards Break Even.2 points

Well that doesn’t bode well since we know both Jack and Jill got injured!!2 points

I think we may look back on not getting Van Veen as a bullet dodged...2 points

So buddies could be signing KVV and we have signed Jack and Jili !! I'm here all night 😜😜2 points

From being a project , Bair is now the man we need to save our season. Come on Theo.....make yourself a legend1 point

I know we've obviously tried to sign another striker, but the club has let strikers go before replacements were in the door. This is very poor. We needed options up front for these next two crucial home games. To think of all the special players we have had up front in the past to be going into the remaining games with a project player, an untried player and a player who is always injured is shocking. Scunnered to say the least.1 point

I would happily take Brophy, as I would Simon Murray. .At least they have a reputation at this level.1 point

I suppose you could ask Groningen if they got their money's worth. Kilmarnock can tell us in May.1 point

It might not be our fault he was recalled but it will be our fault if he isn't replaced. And by ours i mean Kettlewell.1 point
-
All those achievements were prededed and followed by seasons with poor league finishes and cup results. We haven't managed to maintain a credible challenge over an extended period for nearly a century.1 point

I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't sign another striker tonight or in the next day or two but am keeping my powder dry for now.1 point
-
I don't think it's been his choice though,is it not a loan deal, therefore it's down to groningen to accept the best for them1 point

In regards to both Moult and KVV, we should celebrate the fact that for both of them, the most productive spells in their career were with us. I don't doubt that KVV will be a good addition for Kilmarnock but I will be very surprised if he hits the heights of 12 months ago. Tony Watt possibly falls into that category also. We look forward now to unearthing the next hidden gem.1 point

Not meaning to be critical but Louis doesn't play for us.......let's focus on current situation1 point

He goes into the dressing room where everyone knows he's on 7k a week while they're on less than half that. Not exactly a motivator. Killie will probably be in the top 6 on current form so we play them on Saturday then don't have to give him a second thought after that.1 point

I agree, I don't think we should deviate from our wage structure (albeit I have no knowledge of what this is) for anybody, just personal opinion. Spittal has been an excellent signing, quite an underrated player I think. Good luck to the new signings - if Devine can play on either side that gives us some good options in wide areas. I'm quietly optimistic for the remainder of the season, be good to get another forward in before the deadline..! One more would give us a 1st team squad of 23 presuming nobody departs. As others have mentioned, Kettlewell and co. have done a pretty good job of trimming the squad down.1 point

They don't they stopped that this season. OF only get one stand in Paisley.1 point

We'll still have between £2.5-3 million a year to spend on players. We have money to sign players that better than Obileye we just don't have a manager and head of recruitment who can get them in.1 point

Jack fell down and broke his crown......and Obika tripped over the bucket!!1 point

We are long over due it but doesn't mean it will happen. We just need to get the club stable again. Get some decent money for Lennon Miller and get ourselves sorted out. If we come through the next 6 months there's no reason to think we can't put the shambolic last 2/3 years behind us.1 point

Most on here can't see the bigger picture with vale, stats show games played, goals scored and assists,...how many chances did he have before he got his goals, how many assists has he been involved in that his team mates couldn't convert, what's his pace like, what's his link up play like, what's his movement like in the box, unbelievable that a player can be sussed out after only starting 5 games for a very average league one side by what they read on a website1 point

Mcginn is a RCB in a three, and maybe a right back in a 4, but we're not going to a 4 any time soon. He could definitely function as a wing back, but we are obviously looking for more pace there. SOD looks like he's moving into that RCB role as well, and he fared a lot better out there, so I can see why we want cover at wing back, especially when we expect them to be all action, so having options on the bench is very useful. Also, someone is totally going to get injured.1 point

If Van Veen is playing for Killie at the weekend this could be a belter of game. The guy was having meltdowns 5 minutes after getting back to Holland good luck playing in front of the East Stand.1 point

I wouldn't say it was an embarrassment. Not much club can do if Blackburn boot us in the baws and KVV goes to a club that are willing to fork out wages on a par with their early 90's when they had victor, Archibald and Tomas Stickroth. Let's just wait and see how things develop1 point

19 years today since Marc Fitzpatrick fired scored a last minute extra time winner against Hearts in the League Cup at Easter Road. One of the greatest nights I’ve had following Motherwell.1 point

James Forrest looking to go out on loan to get game time? I think I’d be happy getting a hold of him til the end of the season. He’s 34 but he’s still managed to get a few goals this season having only played a couple of games. Might also stop the wee fker scoring against us.1 point
-
That's a separate issue, number of starts. You said two goals in fourteen games like he'd started every game. But when you're called out on it, you move the goalposts. It's now not about how many goals he scored, it's about how many games he started is why he's 'shite'. Which is what you're talking...1 point
-
If Hearts are in for him too I think that's where he will go. All that matters is money all the misty eyed pish that gets talked about players is not worth a fuck. It's a difficult one , rarely do returns to Fir Park work and it's strange how it's all gone tits up a Gronigen. I think as an individual he may be "hard work" however is it worth a gamble if we can afford it for 6 months ? Yes it is because relegation is a bigger financial threat.1 point

Read someone saying that while he's still technically on loan with us, we will pay nothing while he's back at Celtic and unavailable to play. No idea where they got that info from or how accurate it is.1 point

The arse end(s) of Ally McLeod were a toss up with Watson but aye, pretty horrendous stuff. If forums and Steelboy existed at that time, it would have been a right laugh 🙂 On the upside, Hay coming in gave us the best section of a season ever, 7-0, 5-0, fucking over Hearts to stop them coming up.......but was it worth the crap that went before ?1 point
