  1. I know people are upset, but if we're going to abandon everything after a poor game, then we might was well bring back Hammell or Malpas and play "proper" Scottish football. Go back and reed last season's match threads if you want to see what's in store if we go back down that path. I'd rather we keep developing and bring in a few more players that fit in January than go back to Kettle-ball.

  3. A typical Hampden performance from us. Oh how I hate the place. The seeds of that disgrace were sown before kick off with an odd line up. No Welsh or Slattery. Presumably the latter was being kept fresh to come on later and help us defend a one or two goal lead? We were outhought, outfought and outplayed, although 4-1 flattered Saints. Robinson had our gameplan well and truly sussed. Not one of JBA's best days. Only passmarks go to Hendry and Slattery. That game ranks alongside semi final defeats to Airdrie, and will remain in the memory of many for years to come.

  4. To these people saying we need to abandon the style play , you are talking nonsense. What we need is to replace players with guys who can do it and that's why the January window will be important. I'd rather watch us playing like we do even if we lose than watch the utter shite Kilmarnock fans are watching when they lose.

  5. that was a strange one, were far better with him in the team and offers something none of the other midfielders do.welsh for me should also have started,he's came from a club that wins almost everything going,we could have done with some of that experience of getting over the line in games likes this.

  6. Let's no go over the top here gents. A disappointing performance no doubt, but their first 2 goals - what can you say really? First one awful defending - thats nothing to do with our style. Second one they get a break and their forward scores probably his best goal of the season. After we got our goal back, St. Mirren did dominate and we crumbled at the back - but we were chasing the game and desperate at that point. What needs to change for us? It's been said a million times but Ap Stam won't cut the mustard. Hopefully Hendry can fill that gap but it's 50/50 right now whether he can, although I personally think he's much better than Ap at least. Crossing diabolical and what's even the point when we have nobody with any real threat from headers? JBA will be aware of this - we've made great progress so far this season but don't forget JBA has been here less than 6 months. He will need some windows to identify weaknesses and plug gaps. Robinson has been with St. Mirren and good while and has optimised his team (and they're still shite). A perhaps necessary lesson today.

  8. If Slattery was fully fit he would have started today. We have to remember that was his 3 rd game in a week after a return from injury. The manager has to manage those situations carefully. The game is won and lost on fine margins. The first, the referee helped to tee the corner up for Saints. The second, Just was unlucky that the ball hit off him and landed as it did. It was a great finish none the less. The 3rd could just as easily have been a great save but the ball looped into the back of the net For me the first goal set the tone and St Mirren managed the game very well from that point onwards. When I take a step back from the obvious disappointment of the evening, I would still rather be watching our brand of football than St Mirrens and I believe by seasons end we will still finish above them.

  9. i get why we came into this season with stama as our number 9 but he ain't the answer.the issues we have in defence are completely our own making,we didn't need to keep both O'donnell and mcginn on,it should have been one or the other or ideally neither and the wages used to try and improve an already shit defence, gordon was a part of that shit defence last season but yet we go into a semi final with him and mcginn,it just won't do,Johnny k is a bit part part player at best, not the solid right back that we're crying out for, longelo has been a good signing but today and the livi game, he was awful but we don't have another to come in and give him a rest for a couple of games.throw in a piss poor keeper and it's a recipe for disaster.its going to be same old same old while the likes of mcginn and gordon are here,if any good comes of today it should show the manager that the defence needs ripped up and starting again.

  10. I'd add a left back to that too. In essence pretty much a new defence.

  11. That one was on JBA. He has the January transfer window to show he can make this work, but my confidence in him is starting to waver. It doesn’t help that his number 9 and central defence are completely useless.

  12. Just back in from the game (finished too late to get ferry home) and I get rewarded with a night in a Prem Inn in Greenock......the good news just never stops today.... Starting Said instead of Slattery was criminal and to a slightly lesser extent, but still a mistake, not starting Welsh. Too much footering when a shot or a proper cross was required. Just had a golden opportunity to score and tried to tippy tap a pass instead. Said was just pish and so was Longelo. Just all round bad day at the office. St Mirren certainly negated us by not pressing too high, knowing we can't create around a crowded box. Thoroughly pissed off this evening !

  13. Just in and that was awful, really disappointing and I can’t help but think we played like a team who believed our own press and thought we just needed to turn up today. i can’t stand Robinson and his team and style of play but they knew exactly what to do today to stop us and we were outmuscled in every area of that park. I thought Welsh steadied things a bit when he came on but we were poor and didn’t deserve anything today. i want JBA to continue to play his team in the way he has done but he needs to know how to manage playing massive spoiler teams like st Mirren and not get bullied. I’m sure JBA and the players have learned a massive lesson today but that did feel a bad one, a really good chance of a final blown.

  14. Its still early days. Mirren are a settled team, who on the day took their chances when the ball broke to them. You need luck to win a cup and they got plenty today. Sometimes a step back can be more beneficial in the long term. St Mirren are what we were years ago. Big bad and ugly with the odd flash of brilliance. It only gets you so far.

  15. Totally agree we don't need to abandon anything, what were doing is working to a point but to keep making progress we need some more players in that are comfortable in the system and some that can actually defend,it was always going to take time.theres absolutely no doubt though that were paying the price for having most of the defenders that were here last season,we needed a complete change in that department over the summer and it never happened.

  16. As I’ve said before I don’t really agree with the ‘no cutting edge’ theory, we’ve scored plenty goals for a team with no cutting edge. Although there may be an issue with the centre forward though. For large parts of the game we were the better team but St Mirren were more composed, when we looked nervy. Did all the street smarts and dark arts better than us, were physically stronger and gave us a severe lesson in finishing as well as defending. We weren’t at our best in any area of the pitch today but the big issue was defensively. At 2-1 we should be right back in the match with 10 to play. Instead we instantly concede a trash goal. We really need to defend better cos asking for a cutting edge that scores 3 or 4 goals is a big, big ask.

  17. Disgraceful performance. No point playing all the football and giving a team that's scored 8 goals in 10 games 4 goals. Our delivery into the box throughout the game was amateurish. To lose another two goals after getting ourselves back into it is up there with the all time Motherwell fuck ups. I'm not so sure they will get pumped. They are very good at what they do, people may not like it but they are big strong, can defend and can take chances when presented to them. All the omens before the game were good so no surprise we lost. That has been my life supporting Motherwell and to get absolutely shagged like that is shameful , utterly shameful.

  18. It's the hope that kills you. Really dissapointed. Had lots of family over hoping to see this amazing brand of football. Only to see us ineffective up front and poor in defence. Referee was very poor too. I've seen better referees at primary school games. If that's our best for semi final it's a shoddy state. Generally outfought and infective. Lots of money spent for such a shit show.

  19. Not our day. Back to league business. As well getting beat 4-1 as 2-1. well below our best as a team and individually today but hopefully that won’t happen too many games.

  20. From wat I seen. Hendry should start every game. We need strong centre Half's and need a new right back. January should provide chance to improve squad . Hopefully some Lennon money left. Surely jens must know decent players from Denmark.

  22. Did well getting to the semi final, but outplayed and embarrassed by St Mirren. Time to dump this Ange Postecogluo style football experiment , we don't have the type of players that can implement it. Oh and the goalie is rank rotten.

  23. Were a neat and tidy side with a seriously soft underbelly, were an absolute joke defensively,we have a goalkeeper and centre halves that inspire no confidence, rip it up and start again in January.

  24. Another let down for nearly 10,000 well supporters. We didn't create one solid chance. No penetration. Too lightweight and don't get forward quick enough. Supporters should get their money back.

  25. Glad I have food poisoning and gave my ticket away cause this has been a total no show for me from the team. So so poor.

  26. It was over as soon as they went 1 goal up. Our only chance today was scoring early and then adding a second to subdue them. They were always going to be too physical, too ‘streetwise’ for us.

  27. No complaints so far. That first half sums up our season, plenty possession can’t do anything with it and we’re duly punished for it by a side who can actually put the ball in the net. This will end at least 0-3.

  28. First goal shouldn't have happened, the free kick right before was moving before hit and it was also offside. We've been very wasteful in possession, too many passes giving the ball away. Stama back to his usual of being a yard short. Frustrating.

  35. Probably wont be back on here until well after the game tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great day. Hopefully we will get the rub of the green and we are not talking about VAR or the officials after it. Fingers crossed we actually perform how we can, we have a big audience watching and would be great to let them see what we've seen most weeks. In the event we do go behind stay with the team, they have it in them to do the unexpected.

  39. Start with players in the midfield that can actually tackle and win a ball. Also fed up to fuck with manger who continually only plays one up front. Take Maswanhise's goals away and we are down where Livingston are. If he doesn't score we are in trouble on any game.
