Have fans on here not learned the lesson of Theo Bair? Can we not wait and judge what someone does in claret and amber if they sign? Am I enthused by the name Nahmani? Not particularly but Kettlewell has managed to get a tune out of someone who scored one goal last season so I'm willing to trust he might see something in him...3 points

I enjoyed this wee thread. We had some good members back then with some still with us today wouldn’t mind if they could/would return to the SteelmenOnline. For me the worst manager was Jock Wallace.3 points

It be easy to say Malpas but to add a bit of debate I will say McLeish. Some fantastic football in the season after Tommy Mclean left but bit by bit he managed to destroy that team. Also wasted monies others did not have on Roddie, McSkimming. etc. Ultimately he destroyed Tommys team.2 points

the chat on here is shite, see if were not linked with anybody, can somebody just make a rumour up so at least the normals on here can say "heez shite" " waste of a feckin wage" " he wont feckin keep us up " that would be a better discusion than wondering if liam kelly spends his top earner wages in aldi or asda2 points

That was a point I made at the weekend, our midfield with extra bodies picked up so many loose balls and played much closer to each other, and carved out some decent chances (need to do some shooting practice though!) I'm fine with 1 upfront, but we can't rely on just having 1 striker available. Obika even if fit could never show the mobility and energy needed which Bair did well. We can't rely on Theo with no back up2 points

It's also all over twitter and everywhere else on social media that Kettlewell only made one decent signing in Biereth. What about Davor and Gent? I completely understand that fans aren't happy but it's just shades of when folk weren't happy with Alexander. Like when Slattery got dropped after he went off the rails after a bereavement. Alexander was at fault for not playing him when he was more than likely trying to look after him. Same old. The Motherwell team gets announced on twitter and someone has to pick fault with something. The results have been poor lately but I personally think Kettlewell has been a breath of fresh air for Motherwell and if he goes I'll be sorry to lose him.2 points

Agree 100% Malpas was awful to watch but your right McLeish systemically ruined what took years to build Before doing the same at a host of other clubs1 point

There's no way there's a list of player wages. It'll be some Football Manager weirdo who has guessed. Weir said half our wage bill of 5 million a year goes on players so that's about 50 grand a week. We can definitely afford a player or two on 4 grand a week.1 point

maybe not, but we can reward him with a big pair of kenny everrit gloves to help him come and catch crosses1 point

Apparently it's Bill Foley that is involved in takeover, wonder if he will be bringing his comets also!! One for the older readers1 point

Kelly's currently clear in last place on save percentage in the league. We aren't getting much value from him when you add in he can't catch crosses either. He's top class at time wasting but you probably don't want to spend too much of the budget on that.1 point

I'm so glad that you're not our head of recruitment. I accept that he has been less consistent than usual this season but he's been capped by Scotland since his last contract was signed and that achievement can't be rewarded with a pay-cut.1 point

Rubbish......not even close. Kampmann ket up a team in freefall that the idiot McLiesh had managed to assemble at massive cost (around 2.5 mil was spend by the big ginger twat in his efforts to get us relegated). The following season actually started alright and the wheels came off when Boyle took over and appointed Nevin, who then became Kampmann's part time boss and part time subordinate. No wonder results went to shit and he walked.1 point

Watson's team was terrible - played 36, won 4... and I'm not sure how we managed that many wins. Although, to be fair, the slide started when Wallace was in charge. It did lead to wee Tommy taking over too, so it ended well.1 point

As some of the older/vintage fans have said, it would take a lot to beat Wallace or Hynd, although Bobby Watson comes very close 😱😱😱.1 point

You need some consistency a brand new team will no doubt have it's number of bombscares. Some of the players are fine to have about in a squad format eg Mugabi.1 point

Frankly how many of them would you be desperate to resign. For me a couple at most. This is a double edged sword. Its a bonus so we can clear out tons of deadwood and start afresh. However our piss poor precarious league position means its difficult to get players signed up because we dont know what division we will be in so the finances are uncertain.1 point

Might've changed, but the last time I looked on Pie & Bovril there wasn't anything 'definite' and the St Mirren fans didn't seem too fussed either way. They seemed more amused by claret & amber knickers getting in a twist about it.1 point

Was hoping we would be discussing new addition(s) and not outgoing at this point in the window. 😟1 point

We live in an age where people seemingly know the age and schooling plans of players kids. You think a PCA has any chance of being kept quiet?1 point

Quite surprised to read that! It hasn't been a great couple of seasons for us. Hopefully we stay in the league this year and improve a bit going forward.1 point

At the point you posted only 6 people had given an opinion including the original poster. Not one said we couldnt win or it didnt matter whether we did or not. The fact that those posters felt a draw was the most likely result is probably more down to Kilmarnock's current run of form/league position, our current injury crisis and the uncertainty over whether we will have any new signings in by the time the window closes. I know I shouldnt bite, but there is absolutely no chance Kettlewell gets binned if we lose on Saturday, far less draw. The board have backed him up until now and given him the window to help dig us / himself out of this situation. Until it looks helpless or we suffer an absolute hammering, he isnt going anywhere. Now where did I put that pint thats still half full?1 point

I would offer him a good contract but add a clause that says "Nae corner kicks allowed" 🤣🤣1 point

It's not that much of a stretch. They're similar to us as far as league and cup ambition goes, and can reportedly offer more money. Plus, it wouldn't require the player to uproot his family or take kids out of school. It's a no-brainer.1 point

Tam Courts. Paul Lambert. Stuart McCall. All far better managers.1 point
