We were doing that anyway by playing someone who might be described as an athlete but barely a footballer and definately not a right back!
-
He'd be less reviled but he'd be no less garbage!
-
Except he is useless hence why he sat on our bench. He could have the close control of Messi and the passing of Riquelme but with his hefty fat arse attached he'd still be little use to us! And thing is his technical ability isn't quite up there.
-
Why did he end up sitting on the bench for most of the time then and being let go? Oh aye coz he was pish!
-
I seriously question your vision or if not that sanity!
-
You'd think Rangers would offer him facilities, I hate club even more for not doing us the favour of keeping him out of sight and out of mind!
-
2-1 the Well. 2-0 and cruising before a late lapse to give us a nervous finish!

I don't think that is a useful analogy as in that case it was an unfair burden on poorer people. Arguably it is vice versa with the richer clubs recieving less than they might feel is due. Well I don't see a problem. All of the clubs should take TV revenue as a collective income. Now the OF's appeal might bring in the money, but seeing as they can't really play each other 30 times a season every other club is JUST as important in making up the league and therefore should get an equal share. It is better all round as it at least somewhat reduces the financial imbalance and allows for a slightly more level playing field, something which in a more competative league might even bring in increased crowds around the division(assuming the OF hordes don't disappear like snow of a dyke if their dominance is threatened). But with their larger fanbase and other commerical advantages would still leave the OF with an advantage that really should make them big favourites most of the time, but just maybe other teams might at least threaten now and again and maybe at least do better in the cups.

For me every one of those players has only at best proved themselves to an extent. Hutchison has only played about 6 games. Now off top of my head I think he has done well enough, but in those 6 games games we conceded 15 goals. 6 against h**s when he was flung in to early after being out, so will let him off there and he has also scored 3 so I got high hopes for him and ideally if he can stay fit and Reynolds moves on or Craigan then he'll hopefully fit right in and go on do us a turn. But as we seen before, there is no bigger guarantee for a players stock to rise amongst the wider support than to be not playing and seeing reputation continue grow in their absense. Saunders I think has been hit and miss, some good games and other where he just didn't look up to SPL football. And he not a fullback really which not helping him when playing there. Forbes earlier in season showed some real ability, but questionable fitness levels and nearly everyone slated his form for months now. I'd like to see him develop but looks a bit lost out there lately. McHugh I've seen very little to convince me, couple of moments here or there a decent performance against Celtic. I certainly don't see the young guys getting sidelined the way Gannon did some older players but I think a few of them I wouldn't want to see us rely on to much either. Hutchison, Murphy and Forbes definatley made enough of an impact that I'd be concerned if they weren't at least on bench when fit and getting chances but I don't think we quite stumbled onto a golden generation either.

Did you stop going to games around the end of August? I saw some psotive early signs and briefly shared that excitement but we quickly became an absolutely dire team to watch and despite the cup loss I'm looking forward to saturdays game more than I did the last dozen or so under Gannon. I may well be quickly disappointed but well used to that so I'll cope if it turns horrendous again.
-
Another huge whopping great assumption based possibly on the fact that one of the players mumping was the slightly portly McGarry? Has anyone ever had any reason pre Gannon to question the professionalism of other outcasts like Craigan and Lasley. Lasley in particular has always been the kind of player that bursts a gut on the park and not one to shirk even if he isn't the worlds greatest player.
-
Irrelevant so long as they remain in the SPL. Needs more than them to make a league, so they are the big draw but no reason for them to take the bigger share. They'd get he-haw for a league of just the two of them!
-
lets not rule out europe until it mathematically impossible either then! win on saturday and its on!

Easy to get carried away with the seeming change in atmosphere and whilst I not 100% sure Brown and Knox are the team to take us forward they certainly seem capable of getting more out of the current lot in the short term than Gannon could. I'd give them an 18th month contract now with an option of another year/2 year extension in the summer if things are going well. I don't think we can afford to say just take us to the end of the season and then we'll see, we're tying one hand behind our back regards signing players for the better part of two transfer windows potentialy if we do that. It a bit of a risk but worst comes to worst they only got a relatively short term contract to pay off and in the meantime we can plan for the future fairly steadily.
-
A definate naw! Just hope the tempatation for a relatively cheap and safe option after Gannon going wrong doesn't make him appealing to Boyle/the board.
-
Don't envy the person tasked with opening the leccy/gas bill when it comes in with the undersoil heating being on for so long!

Every support has its bangers!

Nonsense. This thread will have he-haw to do with it. Sure Slane was sitting thinking to himself, "Oh I canny decide what to do, tell you what I'll go look on steelmen online...The Bastard I'm off to Celtic!" Not least because after all the speculation if he did sign a new contract he'd be the next messiah for knocking back Celtic, well at least until next time he's linked.
-
I agree if does sign for Celtic I'd have him in every day his contract stipulates and make him sweep up. In the interim we can hardly withhold treatment until he signs a new deal. It a shite situation but seemingly one we can't do a whole lot about. I slated the club earlier for not signing him up before now, but when seemingly McGhee was trying to punt him to Celtic before he left thwarted or not it has seemingly opened a door that we now can't close.
-
I love the stand by him when he is injured line. Aye like we punt players every time they pick up something worse than a knock. He is seen as the next big thing, are we gonna release him because he needed an operation? To be fair to Motherwell in the past we have given players a further contract when they picked up a serious injury when probably if they hadn't they would have been released anyway but by and large standing by players when injured just sounds ridiculous as we hardly likely to bump talented players out the door when an injury keeps them out of action for a few months, fair enough if it was 2 years and even then we'd only be that patient if we thought we were getting a return. It is rarely selfless.
-
I don't disagree necessarilly but point 1 is a load of baws. If they do a good enough job to attack attention from bigger clubs they'd be off like anyone else!
-
BBC report was suggesting they were after £250k compensation from Utd. I cannot see him heading to us.
-
McCart just doing his job. If we rated Slane so highly we should have had him tied down ages ago. Silly boy if he does go given if he was fit he'd at worst be on our bench and playing first team football.
-
Assuming he not signing his own pre contract deal with Celtic!
-
I'd add Saunders to the list because I think there is potential there but he isn't as good as Reynolds, Hutchison, Craigan and I don't see him as a full back. So rather than U19's if he eligible still or occasional bounce matches playing regularly in the first division might suit his development better. Saunders for me has had some good games and some where he not looked the part. Only a young lad though and could well come on to be a fixture for us if we sell Reynolds and/or Craigan hangs up boots.
