    One Up Front

Maybe it was the playing of a back 4 I was thinking off but I can't be bothered going to look it up.
  2. I reckon Hately has just took his chance. Jennings looked well off the pace early on and despite some improved sub showings since Hately has performed pretty consistently and not given manager much cause to make a change there. That said Forbes and Coke have been a bit more up and down so maybe Jennings not impressing Gannon as much as he'd hoped?

Think you'll find it was the Brazilians that innovated the 4-4-2 system.
  4. Wish that was the game live on the telly this afternoon. Fantastic to see Murphy bag a couple, hope he can carry that in next few games and build on that screamer against the Accies.
  5. I expect to see O'Brien move on. Hopefully not Aberdeen that would be a bit annoying but get the feeling he'll be thinking grass is greener elsewhere and he probably done enough to attract some interest outside of availability for christmas parties.
  6. Over 6000 watched Raith Rovers play Dunfermline also. I can't mind what crowds Accies got before their nomadic days but whe nyou can't muster up 2000 fans for home games how do you survive in the SPL. Just shy of 2000 isn't to bad for an away support given the time of year etc and the cost.
  7. I'd be pretty surprised if he went anytime before the end of the season. Football is a pretty short term game these days and from the early promise I'd like to see Gannon build a team and stay for a few seasons before moving onto bigger things but provided he at least stays this full season I'll have no complaints. You never know when opportunities are going to come round and like with players if clubs with more money are hovering it is because things are going well. We can change the manager every season for all I care provided it is because they keep getting poached rather than having to sack rotten ones!
  8. I think it is unfair to say it was mindless. I disagree with it but I'm quite sure he had a rational reason to do so. Putting on another attacking player and taking the game to Accies presumably. I'd argue it was to early and backfired somewhat. I just hope it wasn't based on some sort of show of power with an experienced player. Craigan won't go on forever and it is good to see we have some young centre halfs that look more than capable of coming in but on the face of it his handling of Craigan looks suspect. I felt Craigan was playing fine this season and some of Gannon's comments could be construed as scapegoating. Being in and out of the team hasn't helped Craigan and certainly didn't think he was a liability on saturday and if you are going to be as bold as he was then surely you leave on your more experienced centre half to help keep things organised rather than have two very inexperienced lads at the back with fullbacks outside them not entirely accustomed to playing there.
  9. What it means is that we picked up more points than either of the previous two seasons but it is still far to early to say how things will go longer term. Reasons to be optimistic absolutely, but as the previous two seasons show things could look very different come the turn of the year. And then we have a few loan players who may or may not be around on top the usual instability of anyone going into final 6 months of their contract. I'm basically quite happy, shame we don't have a couple of more points at least from saturday for one thing but we are clearly quite hard to beat which whether things go well or get a bit sticky is a good attribute to have.
  10. Went for Murphy for a belter of a goal. If pushed he probably didn't do a whole lot else but no one else for me had a stand out performance over the full 90.
  11. Points dropped today. Shocking defending at the goals. On the plus side we created chances and at least came away with something when weaker willed teams might have folded. Why the hell is Gannon not speaking to media though? Aye fair enough they might ask shite questions but we all want to hear what he has to say about the game. I daresay he will in due course but I want to know why he hooked Craigan at half time for one thing. I'm all for being positive and going at them with 10 men but it seemed premature and arguably contributed to us giving away cheap cheap goals. Fabulous strike by Murphy and easily a game we might have lost in the past, esp missing what seemed a soft penalty, which i heard described as a stonewaller on radio. I maybe had a poor view. Frustration is the overall feeling though, game we should have won.

    Supporters Trust?

Not as such but there was one last night.
  13. Great to be at and all that but would I ding waste 90 minutes of my life watching a replay, it was indeed a poor match!

    Loanees

I'd agree pretty much with post above. All the loanees have there good qualities, hopefully if we can extend their deals we'll see over the season them edge towards the higher end of performances more consistently.
  15. Where did we get him from anyways? Was he released by a bigger club?

    Loanees

Bloody hell, beating up women who reject your sexual advances, head butting and punching opponents, theft and fraud, drunk unisured driving, criminal damage, receiving stolen goods, spitting in another womans face, chasing another couple down the street with a belt wrapped round your fist is one thing! But stealing sweets out a pick n mix is just beyond the pale!
  17. I got no recollection of that he may well have done if he was in the side. I'm sure I remember McGrillen getting the winner after they should have had a foul awarded.
  18. I mind going most mental at goals against Airdrie back in the early 90's when we travelled over to broomfield, not least the game where it was last game of season and our win over Falkirk the previous week had relegated them. Think I had wire mesh imprints from being squashed up against the fence. The 2-1 win at Ibrox when Dougie Arnott scored twice in last 15 minutes or so after the h**s had went 1-0 up undeservedly had whole away support going completely mental! Also the first time I ever saw us beat an Old Firm team when Bobby Russell scored the winner at Parkhead, was even better than the day Arnott spoiled the party when wee fergus took over. That was pretty good as well mind. More recently Fitzpatricks league cup semi final winner was utterly joyous!
  19. Could have been worse I might have been there to witness it. I can't say I was full to the brim with confidence but getting cuffed 3-0 to a team that isn't by any stretch a cut above ourselves is unacceptable. As for 5 at the back, easy to say in hindsight I know but sounds mental and a bit like McGhees even more mental line up in cup tie last year one that has me scratching my head. Ok they have a couple of bruisers up front but I'd rather we took a more positive approach and get the ball down and play rather than man the barricades at the back. Hopefully more insightful comments from people at the game later.
  20. Aye madness lies that way if you start dropping strikers just as soon as they start banging them in!
  21. Pretty much agree with all that. Though I'm not sure the last point is 100% valid, but bloodline etc has been used to define eligibility to play for the national team for most of our lives so it does take something of a shift in thinking to change that mentality. Don't think struggling to get head round a different idea of nationality or eligibility means you living in some romanticised Braveheart past per se.
  22. I can't say this game ever crosses my mind(can't think why) but whenever it is mentioned I am instantly transported back to the moment where the reality sank in. Not being at the game it was a check on teletext in the middle of a poker evening that confirmed what I had assumed had to be a wind up. What sort of sick masochist starts a thread like this anyway?
  23. Lets face it, this all highlights how stupid the concept of nationality really is. We struggle to define it properly and whilst we might have a certain shared cultural identity it isn't in the grand scheme of things anything to get worked up about. That said I'll still cheer on Scotland, but save us the excesses of nationalistic fervour. Far as I'm concerned both players should be eligable but neither are exactly Scottish through and through. So both or none for me.
  24. I don't think we had any failures or weak links so I not gonna pick and choose players that were better or worse. Everyone got pass marks and could make a case for a couple of players for man of the match and after that we had a group of players that put in a good shift and Forbes was one of them with some nice bits of composed play and easily his best performance in a few games.
  25. No there weren't. He wasn't man of the match or anything but he looked assured and made a decent all round contribution.
