The (correctly) disallowed goal apart I thought we were pretty comfortable in the latter stages.

Yeah, relatively comfortable.

There was a chance very similar to Marius Zaliukas' in the play-off at Fir Park, where Tavernier blazed over from about 8 yards - Similar to then, I thought that was a sign we were going to see it out.

Not too take anything away from today, but what about this for a series of results:

Season 1959/60

League Cup
12/8/59 Rangers 1-2 M’Well     26/8/59 M’Well 2-1 Rangers

League
28/11/59 M’Well 2-1 Rangers 18/4/60 Rangers 0-2 M’Well

Four wins on the trot and all in the same season.

I can't find it now, but there was a quote on the BBC website about how the man who coached in the Bundesliga and top Austrian league had out-thought the man whose coaching experience is the Scottish 2nd Division.

That pretty much sums it up.

Yup, MW seems to have been interim manager at Stuttgart for seven games after a considerable period as assistant. Having experienced playing  against the likes of Bayern, Borussia D. et al for a long period, I hardly think he will have been troubled  much about visiting Ibrox and so it has  proved. His spell at Austria Vienna was pretty healthy too.

If he can get a tune out of our injury-depleted squad which was supposedly totally crapola after only  three games, then he must have something about him.

Hats off to the players too who have followed his instructions and dug out a great couple of performances. Their belief in the manager can only grow in these circumstances, where he has let them off the Kettlewell leash.

Es gibt wirklich einen Gott!

#In Wimmer we trust.

The gaffer says he is delighted to have 14 days to make things better...  If he can do 50% of what he wants it is going to be a fecking revelation.

Going to Ibrox and not parking the bus.  Who would have thought!

I'm old enough to remember when posters were saying we were going to get relegated.

I am normally a "happy clapper" but I had the fear this time.  Could not see this team winning.  How wrong I was

First half was excellent. You could nit pick about Balmers distribution and one or two other loose passes, but overall we were well worth our 2 goal lead at HT.

Unsurprisingly the second half was a much harder watch. Ferguson had to ring the changes and they were able to exert more pressure on us as a result.

I thought we initially stood up to it pretty well, but after Thompson missed his chance and they went up the other end and scored, I feared the worst.

I felt after Halliday and Slattery went off we lost our ability to get forward as effectively and we got a bit too deep for my liking. We rode our luck a little and Im still not sure about their offside goal despite having seen it about 20 times. However, we have been wronged in the past by decisions like that so happy to take this one.

We dug in and got the result we deserved in the end. Tonight is going to be an enjoyable one. I might even get the good whisky out!

The exciting thing is it is still early days with this manager and there is so much more to come from this squad.

Stuart who?

I didn't think we'd win this one, but I have had no worries about relegation this season.

As kack as the blue side of Glasgow evidently are. That's another phenomenal effort from the lads today. While it's still early days and we should all keep our feet on the ground we should also all enjoy the remarkable turnaround since MW's arrival. The players have been let loose with tactics and a strategy that they all understand and it's clear that each and every player knows their job on the pitch. Enjoy your weekend Well fans. I know I will. COYW SIWY

Brave on the ball, played with energy and we had a great shape about us when we didn't have possession,it's early days but the differences already are pretty noticeable.

And he already tweaked the approach with a deeper press to catch a breather every now and then.

An actual Plan B.

Of course winning the Dundee game was a big help, because players are never sure about new tactics unless they see results.

We should remember that MW has had a lot of exposure to Bundesliga football both in Germany and Austria so we should expect him to be up to speed re structure, tactics, fitness regimes, set-plays, metrics etc.

Conversely, I noticed some Rangers fan on social media saying even before this game that all he'd seen of Barry Ferguson when at Clyde was  him shouting and swearing at his players. BF's "success" there, Kelty Hearts and Alloa  suggest he is not the man for the job at Ibrox in the long term.

Think we could be on to a winner with Wimmer. I notice none of our great Scottish churnalists and presstitutes seem aware of Wimmer's pedigree or noticed his potential.

Absolutely. Coaches from the continent also tend to do more training with ball-at-feet, so hoping to see even more football in the coming weeks.

In his first interview he said one of the things that made him a good match for the club was being data driven.

I doubt they had much of that at Alloa.

A great result today, which reflects well on our new management team and ther players. I still think we have the core of a decent team there. I haven't seen anything of the game so far but am looking forward to viewing it later. MW has done very well so far in a short space of time to get his fresh ideas across and the players have taken them on board. Far, far from the finished article but its a good start and we seem to turned over a new leaf. Not only are the results improving, so too is the entertainment value. Great to see our Viking and Tom Sparrow notch the all important goals. I did think our efforts on Wednesday would have emptied a few tanks but that doesn't appear to be the case.

I just hope that we get the credit we deserve as opposed to Sevco being criticised but thats too much to hope for from our media.

Credit to Sevco for organising an Armed Services day, but it appears they didn't involve our club or Society which was was a bit remiss of them. If I'm wrong I apologise.

A great night to be a Well fan. Onwards and upwards.  Success at Ibrox doesn't come too often so lets enjoy it.
